I could listen to y'all through 2 tin cans and some string!! LOL I think I just aged myself... 😆😆😆
Yes! Me too. Even semaphore! I'd listen with cocoa tins and string and afterwards make them into pretend stilts! Remember that?!
Scott doesn't get to brag much, glad he did this.
Hi Mark, I’m a sound engineer and I can tell you that your setup is great and I‘m sorry to say that Scott‘s just sounds... not that good as yours. I‘m a big fan of the two of you and I appreciate your effort to sound great. Mark, you could improve your audio by putting your mic nearer to your mouth, I think it is a bit on the roomy tone and our brain needs to compensate for the roomy sound. Our brain just wants to get your great advices and no room sound. Keep up your excellent work!
Thanks, helpful insights! I suspect we are also getting Mark’s directly from his recording setup (placed into the RUclips video he will be uploading) but Scott’s is coming through the Internet. So that’s another part of the sound difference.
Thanks Mark and Scott. Simple and clear presentation from guys who know their stuff. Cheers!
Both are good sounds, but I definitely prefer Mark’s sound best. It’s louder and clearer. However, for the tune of around $50, I’d say Scott’s would be my winner being I wouldn’t want to spend around $500. Thank you!
Could be because of loudness and voice clarity.
I would have liked to see the actual setup. Ah well...
I like Mark's the best.
Thanks for the insight. Very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Other option is trial and error and that is frustrating and can add up quickly. Thanks again.
@Scott, from record producer to body-language expert. Love it!..💯💯🧨💥 I am intrigued. How did you make the transition?
Oh, what serendipity!!!! Love your guts, Mark & Scott!!!!!!! 💕
Fantastic share guys, thanks. Love the simplicity and clean sound of Scotts usb mic option. I get the feeling he is a bit more tied to desk than Mark who can move around more. Whats the furthest away you reckon that Insignia will tolerate before its too low?
Aw c'mon - let's just acknowledge for a minute the dulcet tones that are Scott Rouse
Explains why Scott sounds a bit like a DJ. ❤️ Enjoying BP
This is great information for me as a parent. Now I know the real deal about microphones lol.
Marks mic is so much better.. Forget about Best video quality, just get a better mic.
Thank you both! 😁✌️😎👂🎙️
What are you using to listen through Mark? If speakers, how are you avoiding feedback? Or do you have a discrete EarPod in your left ear?
Thank you @Mark Bowden & @Scott Rouse for releasing this insightful information on this medium. I watched this somewhere else a little while ago and then guess what, I had sound quality issues so tried to find this again without success. Greatly appreciated. 💖
Had absolutely no idea Scott was a producer! amazing!
I would say that your setup sounds more natural, with the downside being that there's more reverb due to the distance you are from the mic. His sounds quite clear, less natural, but it will better suit most people due to its low cost and ease of use.
Sound advice! 👍
😂
Excellent video!! Definitely the decisive one for my decision. Just one question, which one would be best for zoom meeting from zoom? Shure microflex mx412 or electro voice re50b?
Thank you!
I wonder if Scott ever met Phil Spector. That would be an awesome episode for Behavior Panel! Guy creeps me out
Great idea!
5.47 Mark Bowden is being very diplomatic - saying he likes Scott’s audio sound better than his! It’s completely written across his face and his body language - a great baseline.
Mark’s audio signal chain is much better. Scott’s sound suffers from a cheap mic, a resonate room (low mid box at 250 Hz ish), poor A to D and unpracticed diction.
A room sound is often easier & cheaper to fix than buying new equipment.
Thank you for this video, Mark and Scott!
Cheers Guys,
Just a question about Arm mounted mics ..
As mentioned, dynamic "Studio" mics restrict back ground noise but by their nature you need to be very close to.
Condenser style mics you can be further away and add atmosphere with background noise...
Meanwhile most Work and home offices aren't interested in XLR style mics, they are just interested in the Plug and Play that USB offer..
That said there is a big difference between Podcasters and home or office Zoomers...
If you want the distance from the mic that the Shure Microflex MX412 offers without picking up background noise that a Dymanic microphone would normally offer from the other people talking via Zoom through good aftermarket speakers creating Feedback squealing I assume a condenser USB mic would be the preference.
If a deck mounted Lectern style mic isn't practical and say a Rode PSA1+ arm is preferred and used what microphone is suggested without it being in the shot like a studio mic but affords clear speaking distance??? How do Condenser mics avoid feedback in home Zoom meetings??
💫 Thanks, guys. Putting this straight into my tech folder. See you on the BP.
Love you guys! Alway learn something from your videos.thanks so much!!
Thanks for the advice on the Insignia mike! I ordered it from Best Buy, plugged it in, and it sounds excellent! 200% better than the laptop microphone. It will improve my Zoom classes significantly. Thanks. Do you have other budget-minded recommendations for a webcam or headphone/earphone for Zoom classes?
Great info. Thanks!!
Well, Marks Sound is much cleaner, easier to understand. Scott lacks a bit of high-end frequencies. But who will complain... 50 bucks:-) Im quite happy with my Schoeps CCM41. By the way, that was used for the dialogue recording for the last James Bond movie:-)
Thanks to you both! That was very helpful!!
This was good thank you - gave me a lot of ideas
Great video Mark. Mark, do you have earphones in to hear who you are talking to, or is there a speaker in the room? Thank you.
Ty. Good info for our new Zoom way of life.
Another awesome video Mark. I'm curious, what pre-amp/compressor do you use?
Art Tube MP/C
@@MarkBowden1 Thanks Mark! I thought it might be that one. I just got one myself.
Bigfoot watching from Washington. But he vacations in Toronto...
Love both of these guys. Does anyone know what book Scott is doing a voice over for?
Scott has the most beautiful buttery smooth voice.
Sweet👣👣👣
I wonder if Mr Scott Rouse would sign my copy of his Cover "Play that funky music" for me?? ;)
love you guys!
Wow! I didn't know Scott Rouse is the Mutt Lange of Body Language.
Interesting to know, I also have a Scarlett 2i2, but only the Boya M1, and the condenser Mic by Focusrite... I really want to improve my audio quality on my Zoom meetings, I teach guitar, so I'm looking for a Mic that I can use for my voice and also for my guitar. What would you recommend?
Thanks guys
thank you guys :-)
I have a yeti mic that I bought for $80. I can use it to record videos on my Mac but I can’t seem to get it figured out for a zoom call... I just tried once and when it didn’t work, I just unplugged and didn’t go back.
Wait! Is this fair? I’m feeling like Scott just has a ready for radio voice, but I’m gonna give it a whirl...
Got a link to the Insignia mic?
Excellent.
I l9ve you guys 😊
Interesting.
Wow !!!!!!!!
@Scott. If you ever cry broke it’s your fault. That powerful voice you have.... goddamn!
Ka-ching$$$$$
Ha ha ha thanks for the tip Scott
Wow Scott you have many layers like an onion. And Shrek.
CQ CQ CQ how about it skip land !!!!!!
