    Who cares about the engine size, the beauty and the feeling of freedom created by the bike is the important thing.

    I agree with everything you said, Racer. But there's one aspect you didn't mention: purity. The original "café" idea came from young guys with limited resources who dreamed of transforming their piece of junk into something totally flash and totally their own. This build captures perfectly the spirit of those days. It is an instant icon. Congratulations to Fernando, and thanks to you for presenting his triumph so wonderfully.

      Griffin Anderson. I think soooo many people forget, not only how they started, but why they started.

    • @wordsmithgmxch
      @wordsmithgmxch 6 лет назад

      You mean testosterone? -- Okay, cheap shot, sorry. But why DID they? Just to raise themselves above the hod-carrying anonymity that society was prepared to offer their kind, probably. And if they could put the wind up the parents and other assorted tossers, and maybe attract the interest of a couple of birds along the way, so be it.

    • @shaunelliott3759
      @shaunelliott3759 6 лет назад

      Griffin Anderson. Hello, every generation wants to find a way to be rebellious, Rock N Roll, Mini skirts, Summer of love, Fighting on the Beach, for me it was Punk Rock. With lads it's all about Testosterone and Imaturity I don't think I have any male friends that are over the mental age of 6. The guys in the 50's and 60's were fortunate to have ground up in a time of industrial expansion, their were plenty of jobs, compared to the generation's before they had plenty of money, and for the first time, transport became affordable. Cars were still unattainable for the majority, but motorcycles, well they were a different thing, as you so rightly say, they saved their money and bought what they could afford, then it seemed as though they collectively got a bug up their arse about doing the "Ton Up", the unicorn that was 100mph. These guys couldn't afford to just trade up every time a newer, faster bike came out, so the "Caff Racer " was born. These guys road the roads of the transportation system, these at that time were the only reasonably surfaced roads you could ride on, unfortunately these roads also carried the most dangerous vehicles of the day HGV's, that's why so many of them died, i think this, added to the gangs, the girls and the fighting pissed off the parents, and just as the parents thought it couldn't get any worse, the British government built the M1, miles and miles of well surfaced, straight road, and at that time, no speed limit, then some bastard brought out the AC Cobra, and that fucked that, obviously this didn't put off our intrepid for Father's, they were still seeking their "Unicorn". Then when the world got small, due to affordable flights for the masses, an education changed to include foreign languages, they realised that it wasn't a Caff, or even a Cafe, but a Cafè. For me I didn't give a shit how it was said, I was born in to it, before every time I was put on the tit I was given a couple of squrts of 2stroke. These guys even though they were only doing what every generation has done before, piss off the previous generation, they did it at a time that was, really,the only time it could have happened. The manufacturer's saw this, especially the Japanese, and changed the style of their respective products, and that's why we have had the great fortune to have some of the amazing motorcycles we have had. Sorry for rattling on, but for me, these fuckers are better than sex, and i mean the good kind, with someone else.

    • @wordsmithgmxch
      @wordsmithgmxch 6 лет назад

      No, Shaun, rattle on, and welcome! Sounds like you really lived the era, though perhaps a bit after the actual heyday (punk wasn't really a "thing" back then). Thanks for sharing -- and for me, it's "caff racer" from now on!

    Caro amigo,
    A moto é espetacular e sua narrativa, como de hábito, torna-a ainda mais bela. Suas observações foram muito precisas e realçam a beleza dessa notável Honda CG 125 Deluxe.
    Ainda assim, permita-me expressar minhas observações.
    Fiquei hipnotizado pelo conjunto de rodas e raios cromados, com pneus de faixa branca adornados por para-lamas igualmente cromados. Nas imagens ao sol, a moto parece flutuar nos reflexos que tantos cromados proporcionam. Além disso, o alinhamento visual entre a pequena carenagem, o tanque e os elementos da traseira que a bela pintura proporciona fazem dela uma moto esguia, ela parece querer cortar o ar. Não obstante o pequeno motor, esta CG125 tem aparência e postura de esportiva.
    Creio que o Fernando Casado soube capturar muito bem a essência original das Cafe Racers da Inglaterra dos anos 50/60 do século passado. Uma moto pequena, comum, um mero meio de transporte barato, que se transforma em uma moto visualmente impactante. Se ele optar por mexer no motor.......
    No mais, você já sabe: vibro por ser do Brasil. Não duvido do talento dos meus patrícios, Fernando Casado e os irmãos Lourenço que o digam, mas por estas bandas customizar motos é uma tarefa árdua pela falta de tradição, falta de peças e motos mais antigas e pela legislação.
    Um grande abraço!

    • @RACER_TV
      @RACER_TV  6 лет назад +4

      Pois é amigo, bem sei que é difícil de conseguir peças aí no Brasil. Mas por outro lado, isso obriga-os a ser mais criativos a arranjar soluções. Ou seja, se tudo fosse mais fácil, provavelmente este projecto da CG Deluxe nunca teria nascido. :) Obrigado amigo por partilhar a sua opinião. :) Um abraço.

      I Wayan Pardika. The majority of the stuff I've been working on is 500cc- 600cc, i chose these simply because they were what I had that I could physically manage, due to my illness (I had to sell my old British stuff, kickstart only and heavy bikes), luckily for me they are still quite popular due to the weight, speed, power, mpg and of course insurance bracket. With all the intrest in smaller bikes, i think I'm going to do one when I've finished what I have, that in its self may take some time,. I have 2 for changes, one definitely a "Café Racer" and the other, I was thinking, Street Scrambler, or maybe a Streetfighter, but I'm not sure yet, these are both in line 4 cylinder, I've also got a Gix 750cc, and a 91 FZR600R (3HE) that my lovely whife bought me, for renovation. I also have enough parts to build at least 3 mongrels, so that will keep me going for a while. I may even video some of the builds, i can't be any worse than some of the posts on RUclips, or can I?

      Is what I think sometimes as well. For me there is cafe style, and there there is cafe. Neither is wrong, and both can be fantastic. But for me, that extra bit of true to roots always adds something that cannot be carried in pictures. Sometime function can offer more to form than a focus on form. I feel that is what this one had. When a bike focuses on just trying to be heavy on the style, they sometimes seem to lose the style. This bike seemed built around a function. Instead of fighting to create something else, the builder captured the design of the bike and worked it. Carved like a fine piece of marble. Took the natural existing lines and accentuated; refined.

    Interesting observation regarding Title assigned to this video as you have used this same Title for a previous video from about a year ago highlighting a Royal Enfield Continental GT535 by Zeus Customs. If I understand your logic to describe that both machines stand on their own merits as being “Even Better” than what they originally were before the fine craftsmanship of transformation.
    Great work of passion on your part...as I am always in anticipation for your next video.

      As far as i remember, the reason behind that title, is different on those 2 videos.
      On this honda, i meant that it was even better than the Fernando casado's first project.

    So we rarely disagree, but I believe his first project is a better project overall. I think the fairing on this bike, ignores the divine proportions, and projects too far out in front. It causes the bike to look off balance. All else is nicely executed. I admire the work, but am always looking for the perfect balance. I just don't see it in this project.
    Thank you once again.

    • @RACER_TV
      @RACER_TV  6 лет назад +1

      No problem my friend.It is just a matter of different taste.
      After reading your comment, i checked the divine proportion on this CG, and curiously, it is almost perfect.
      If you measure the fuel tank with the semi fairing, and divide it by 1.618, you will get the total length of the seat with the rear cowl.
      You can check this on your youtube screen using a ruler. :) But thank you for sharing your perspective. :) Cheers.

    Although the rider looks slightly to big for this bike :)

      I did the opposite approach withy 1st ever small cafe racer project. What I did with my Honda TMX155 was to introduce very few new parts and retain nearly all of the major ones but altering only its original lenght or size and alignment but the result is to vanish the original Honda TMX155 stance and over-all look.

    Very cool, I'm not really one for small engined bikes, but once again I can appreciate the work that has gone in to it. The two bikes are of a production quality, and quality like that doesn't come easy, or cheep.i wonder, are you planning a video on the cost of building a "Café Racer ", what I mean by that is a comparison between sizes, small, medium and large, or even between classic, 80's 90's and new. I ask this because most of the bikes I used to own were British classic's, now I'm building Japanese, mainly 600cc, and as you would imagine, the perchase price for the bikes is massively different, but the suprising thing is, some of the parts are similar or even dearer, and obviously if you buy from a builder the hourly rate for labour probably won't change regardless of age. It would be nice to see a comparison of what it cost to what it's worth (financially).Once again, another excellent video.

    • @RACER_TV
      @RACER_TV  6 лет назад

      Thank you my friend for sharing your opinion.
      About what you said on building costs with small and bigger motorcycles, it is a nice and interesting suggestion for a video.
      But it would be also a irrelevant to most Viewers, because the value of old motorcycles, cost of labour and aftermarket parts is very different between Countries.
      This means that it is very difficult to get a right conclusion for a video with this kind of analysis
      But thanks for the suggestion. :) Cheers.

      Jose DeMunck. I understand that, the Japanese never used to invent, they just developed existing technology, and they did it very well for a very long time. My question was about the cost of building a smaller cc bike and a larger cc bike, this would give those that want to build their own (that have no idea of project management) the opportunity see whether they could afford a larger cc bike, I'm ok I did this for a living, why I'm interested in this is purely to see R TV make yet another awesome video, but also see if the market is their to build some smaller bikes myself, I've only ever built two, and they were for my kids (not kids any more unfortunately) so cost wasn't an issue.With what you have written I can tell you understand about costing and project management, but my thoughts were more, how much in, to how much out, simply gross margin, and whether I should build some. The one thing the Japanese did produce themselves was the awesome 2 strokes of the 70's/80's, and for that I cannot thank them enough. After writing this i realised that your comments were not directly related to mine, but I've written this now so I'm not going to delete it. Imho all your comments are valid, and just to say, i miss 2 strokes.

      Oh Shaun, that is great, I would love to build a couple for my kids. One of them is taller and stronger than me though, but the other one is a little rascal yet.
      I believe the best we can do (because I am looking for a business edge too, by the way) is to find a couple of bikes for cheap. A proper selection of paint and seat colors, to be able to reproduce the templates for the paint in your own home with a printer, that could lower the cost of the built. I am not a fan of small engines, but that is because big engines have saved my sorry backside a couple of times because of wise use of acceleration power whenever I have needed. I had a very old passola scooter with like..50cc or something, and it was not exactly an experience I would like to repeat LOL.
      I really like big engines: they last longer, and perhaps their maintenance is expensive, but in the long run some of them have proven to be bullet-proof-reliable, because the lower weight of the cafe racer built takes off a lot of load to the engine. I prefer to have lots of power, and use it wisely, to need the power and not to have it.
      But maybe it is just me :D .
      I used to live in a country where gasoline is dirt cheap so the less of my concerns was mileage.
      Hey I never had ride in a 2 stroke, they say the power output is awesome, and much more efficient than the 4 strokes.

    One thing which is important to take note in our case in Brazil is that these motorcycles are work horses, their main purpose is cheap transport and time saving that could only be achieved in a small motorcycle. So brazillians are in tune with the "motor world" and love all types of vehicles but their dream projects are not always accessible.
    Here due to laws and other issues it's hard to get a hold of a vintage motorcycle with a racing history but there are still a lot of other more desirable options for a cafe project other than the CG. So that to me just makes these projects all the more special because these bikes here are crazy cheap, so this is truly an accessible project if you have the skill set to take it on.
    Great video
