I’ve ridden Goliath so many times! I can tell you (just like most RMCs) the first time you ride it you almost have to get back in line because you almost don’t understand what just happened! They throw elements in one after another with their non-stop pacing and airtime… I think that’s why I love them! There’s a reason a RMC is my favorite manufacturer and why my #1 is an RMC

Here we go. Six Flags Great America is my home park and I absolutely cannot decide between this and Raging Bull. One day I like this more, some others I prefer bull. I absolutely love Goliath, yes it may be very short, I'd I'd it's almost kinda ridiculous how short it is, but every element it does manage to pack of the few it has are fantastic. That first drop is complete free fall in the back. The furs turn had amazing near misses. The speed hill gives very strong flojector airtime. The dive loop is an an amazing element. It's full whip and positive Gs with near misses the entire way down. And of corse that stall is probably in the top 3 best stalls in the world. I didn't even get much of a hangtime falling sensation, but just the fact you're upside down that long. I will say it is a rather large downside for how short it's length is. But the elements are all so good.

I absolutely agree with your praises and critiques of the ride. However I personally have outlaw run as the "worst" RMC I've ridden. While yes it's a longer ride, it just didn't deliver on it's elements as well as I feel Goliath does. Regardless of ranking though, I think everyone wishes Goliath did one more loop around the layout. Yet at the same time I can understand that RMC and Six Flags could've been more focused on records, price, hourly capacity, and pacing instead of delivering a longer experience.

  • @willt6970

This was my first RMC and I've only ridden one other (Twisted Cyclone) but it's my #1 overall. The length really doesn't hurt it too bad for me because of how relentless it is from drop to brake run, and the sequence of first hill -> dive loop -> zero-G stall blows me away every time. I'm excited to ride more RMCs and other elite rides from various other manufacturers, but this Goliath will always be special for me as my first RMC and (at least temporarily) a #1 coaster of mine. I defend it at every turn and I think the moniker of "worst RMC" does it injustice in the enthusiast community, but of course it can still be both the worst RMC and an incredible ride.
I really hope there's a coaster club event at Great America in the near future so I could get the chance to have ERT on Goliath. The lift hill would hardly be long enough to catch your breath before going back around. I live 6 hours away from the park these days but I'd hit the road at 3 in the morning for Goliath ERT if I needed to.

Dude that whole park is underrated for some reason. I don't think many enthusiasts have actually been there. I was guilty of this as well until I visited, I was aware of the coasters there but for some reason in my head it was still like an average Six Flags park with maybe 6-ish coasters. But heck no! It's like double that and the lineup is pretty great. I think some parks are like that for some reason, I feel the same about Busch Gardens Tampa. I'm aware of what they have but still imagine it having like 3-ish coasters even though that's totally not true.

I have it ranked above 3 other RMCs, many B&M Hypers, GCI's, DC Rivals (that some say is top 20 in the world and usually features on bucket lists). I've only spent two days at SFGAm and I had the time of my life on Goliath. Got 14 rides on it, some at night in the rain. It blows my mind that some think it's the worst RMC. It seems to be quite common too so who knows what's going on. The most common excuse is "it's too short". Look past that and it's elite.

Ohhh if it's RMC I'm tempted to just give it 10 out of 10 no matter what, on ride quality and elements..., I personally am one of those people that sees them doing no wrong with refurbished wooden coasters. I guess I'm a RMC Stan lol. I live in San Diego & I really wish our iconic, century-old "coastal" coaster (Giant Dipper, Belmont Park) would get the RMC topper track treatment. And maybe some improved elements. Could be a new smaller kind of project for them wonder woman coasters are a bit on the smaller scale too but that's another story. Yes the Giant dipper coaster is a historical monument but come on now. That shit is so rough we need RMC to make it better. So the fact that it's RMC and the elements and everything are there I give Goliath nine out of 10, they lose that point for the short ride.
That's the sole issue I have with Goliath @ Great America; the same as Goliath @ Magic Mountain & also, realistically, the Wonder Woman Lasso coaster w raptor track!! I've ridden some short rides but less than a minute?? Yeah I was def annoyed that day. And if it's less than 45 seconds…Basically half a minute? Dude. I'm not gonna be waiting in line until it's less than 30 minutes waiting!! F that! Ha! What a hopelessly inefficient, pathetic way to F up your day. Everybody else wanted to wait in line and I was like screw this, I would much rather wait for another time. We didn't have enough money for a fast pass.

Goliath has an outstanding drop, 2 outstanding inversions, and 2 good air time moments. NTG didn't have anything stand out for me. Pacing was also an issue with NTG a little bit.Joker has a great stall and the first drop is quite good, but the pacing isn't as strong as the pacing on Goliath. Twisted Cyclone is the RMC I have right in front of Goliath. Again it has a couple of real good elements and keeps it pacing. I think it's underrated, I prefer it over Outlaw, Twisted Cyclone and LRod, but LRod would beat it if the launch wasn't nerfed and didn't have the potholes. Goliath is smoother then shit when compared to the bottom of LRods valleys. But the stall is my favorite element on any coaster, I like it even more then the Quad Down, even though that is a close 2nd fav element of all RMCs. I only rank Steel Vengeance above it but I haven't ridden any others not listed yet. Also Goliath's stall is superior to VelociCoaster but overall VelociCoaster is better with all it's elements and the Roll. Speaking of which, ranking RMC's best elements (and coasters they are on) may be a good video if you haven't done something like it already.

I've never had issues with the roughness on RMCs myself, but this is smoother than the other Topper Tracks.

I have to note that Lightning Rod was converted in 2021, it was all wood in 2020.

I can’t call this the worst rmc. It’s just so intense and every single element is good nothing is wasted. Despite that it’s so re rideable. Nothing bad about this ride.

i really wish someone would tell the truth about this ride for once. i literally laughed out loud when you were like omg the laterals leading to the chainlift (aka practically the same turn into the lift as iron wolf). omg the one airtime hill is spectacular. and the most underrated part of the ride is the brake run. lolwut? it's literally maddening how my homepark can have a 6 element rmc (2 of the elements extremely weak btw) but still claim we can have a gazillion b&ms but only one RMC. i'm at a loss for words especially since this video was uploaded in 2022 and you KNOW how incredible an RMC can be. this ain't it chief.
