You know why you think this is shitty, because music on the FM radio is pushed on you with catchy hooks and repetitive phrases, thats most of what you know and believe to be good. This outside the box music needs time to settle in. It's like when I first tasted beer, hated the shit, but after awhile i was able to pick out the flavor and savor the taste. ITS AN ACQUIRED TASTE. Those are the most rewarding. Don't be a tool.

But because somebody writes about something real, even if it involves cutting or any such material that fits in with the standard definition of the word "emo", doe not in fact make the music emo. He's not asking anybody to feel sorry for him and he's not doing writing this stuff to appeal to an angsty youth. Watch him perform. It's real emotion.
Actually his dad was a heroin addict who beat him and threatened to kill his own family with a shotgun. He also made his son pull the strap so he could inject when he was 8. Cage was actually restrained illegally in bed straps and straight jackets for 13 hrs at a time when he was put into a psychiatric ward, as well as being used to test a new drug; he was misdiagnosed and it almost killed him. but yeah rich boy, good parents.
and anyone tryna say em isnt watered down cage n em was here first jus stop there ima save u the embarassment slimshady lp didnt come out till 98 while cage was on trax at 93
