Diese Violine - ein Trauminstrument mit einem überirdisch schönen Klang, gespielt von einem meisterhaften Solisten. Ebenso Spohr`s einfühlsame Melodik. Ein Hochgenuß !

As Brian Knapp noted, the influence of Beethoven can be heard throughout this lovely concerto.

The first movement has many similarities to Beethoven's violin concerto.

Spohr stole the theme of the second movement from the slow movement of Beethoven’s quartet op. 18 no. 1 in F. I mean stole, not just “influenced by.” Definitely a lawsuit if it happened today, and I can’t believe no one noticed it then. Amazing to think that Beethoven himself was writing his late quartets while Spohr was plundering one of his early ones.

Oh and a note about the piece Spohr stole from: Beethoven stated that it was inspired by the tomb scene from Romeo and Juliet.

Ha-ha! Beethoven himself used melodies and motives from different sources. Nobody cares. The main goal is to create an interesting musical piece.
