I live in the Southerntier of New York State and I have camped at Wellesley Island State Park many times. Our destination spot when our children were growing up. We stayed in a cabin one Christmas and hiked the trails. My son is vacationing at Wellesley as I type!
This will be my 56th year coming up to Wellesley Island State Park.... All the great memories from being a small kid fishing and camping with family and friends.
I love Wellesley SP, my father is the head chef at the Wellesley Hotel (Leo) so its a great excuse to go out camping. But If I had to pick a favorite spot in the state, it'd have to be the lean-to's at fourth lake in the daks. Only accesible by boat, theres a ramp on the road side of the lake. They're massive and there is 4 so even on a weekend theres no trouble finidng yourself a spot. The swimming is a1+ and the fishing is as well. Best part is since its a backcountry camping area theres no registration or payment required.
