Mamba X Esc. It can up to 6s. I also recommend running getting a bec. It will help with those issues you are having with laggy steering and other electrical gremlins
I have replaced my ESC on the Maxx through Traxxas and was covered under warranty. That part is on back order though, I have been waiting since 4/6 for them to send one.
@@RCKnockout Yes, the electronics are covered under warranty for covered replacement. The only time (3 total) it was not covered they charged me $65 for a new ESC instead of the full cost.

I just replaced the rear and center diff bearings regreased and put it back together, lasted 30 seconds and the esc gave up......super stoked. all the wheels turn normally so god knows why it decided to die. I guess I will need a new one.
Had this happen on my xmaxx, luckily it was day 26 of owning it at the time so they replaced it free of charge and I sold it as soon as I got it back and got me a max6 and had great luck since! I like those batteries, great value for the price! Got 2 for 94 on ebay a while back!
@@RCKnockout I retired my old ones into a electric gokart battery with 3 3s and a 4s in series, 2 of the 3s packs were 4s but a cell got damaged so I removed the bad cell and resoldered the wire back on, wouldn't recommend it to anyone tho lol
My esc just did the three lights of death. But when it went it took the motor with it. Locked it up solid, any idea why that would of happened? The truck is only a month old. Only been driven a few times. Thankfully Traxxas seems to be taking care of me.
Maybe or maybe I’ll try something different….I might try contacting Traxxas to see if I can send this esc In to get reprogrammed….we will see….cause when It was new it worked fine with no complaints
If I do go with the v2 chassis I’m definitely probably gonna want to run this thing on 6s…..which might be good but also more likely to encounter breakages lol
Hi Nolan, I put the esc from my xmaxx in my maxx v2 and it made it run a lot better. that being said, traxxas esc sometimes arent all that great. when the 8s esc goes out i will probably put a hobbywing max6 in it. looking forward to see what you go with. will say running it on 6s is a lot of fun and havent broken anything on it so far and i bash pretty hard.
@@RCKnockout no I’ve gone to steel drive shafts and aluminum c carriers and hubs.. but it is pretty much bulletproof now. I haven’t broken anything since upgrading. I’ve done that to both my Maxx’s and they are both bulletproof now. Love them and the X Maxx. Hope to get a sledge down the road to add to my fleet
I am running the Traxxas drive shafts, tried some aftermarket steel ones on my v1 first run they broke so I paid the Traxxas price. Ugh.. but will say they have held up great, no issues at all.

@@RCKnockout the stock motor is great, I definitely would not switch to something bigger it adds too much weight to the maxx which was what I found. Funny enough I'd probably put a Mamba X with a Cappack to it or a MM2. It's not necessary to use a sensored system for the maxx but it definitely needs a better esc with good PWM rates so it runs smoothly.
@@RCKnockout typically happens with traxxas esc's. Honestly not a fan of the vxl systems besides the vxl3s. That little monster could pull 200amps no issues which is wicked.
