Love the video. I'm an NYU alum ('06) and this was a nice walk down memory lane. To be honest, not much has changed (except Hayden- Lipton, wtf?). NYU was one of the best times of my life so enjoy every minute that you're there, you will look back with very fond memories, I'm sure!

Hey Sophie, I really appreciate your NYU videos! I am currently a Senior in high school and am thinking about going to NYU. Everything I have read so far about it sounds great, but the only thing I am worried about is that it is not like a real campus where there are only college kids that can just meet and hang out. I don't know if that makes sense, but do you feel like that is the case? Because the campus seems to be incorporated into the city pretty well, and it doesn't look like there is a real college campus, mostly individual buildings scattered in that area of NYC. Thank You!
it's true that it isn't a typical college campus. it isn't walled off; it's very integrated into the city. however, the buildings aren't scattered much, they pretty much all surround washington square park so it feels like a campus in that aspect. the buildings are all like next to each other though for the most part. there are plenty of places of campus to meet and hang out :)

i visited NYU this summer and before going i had been watching tons of videos about campus life so when we were walking through washington square park and came across pigeon man i got really excited and my aunt actually questioned my sanity

join clubs you are passionate about!! that way you can meet people with similar interests. also study abroad, you become really close with people then :)

Heyy, i just wanted to ask if it's like 'hard' hard to get into nyu?
It has been my dream college for like years and i've been hoping to get into stern.
I got a 1350 on my SAT (the new one) which is equivalent to like 1910 of the old one and im v confused if this can get me in...
I'd really appreciate it if you could help me out.

yes, it is hard to get into stern. it's one of the top business schools in the country. but it's not only your SAT score that matters. i didnt even send my SAT score to nyu. they look at your application holistically, so if you are strong in one area but weak in another, that does not mean you won't get in!

when i was around 4 i wanted to be an author, live in new york and wanted to go to yale😂 but i was looking at what colleges which were better for authors and found nyu, which is exactly where i wanted to live and i decided it is where i wanted to go! i've been watching all of these day in the life's and everything looks so fun!

i would recommend living on campus as a freshman. i really think dorming is super important :)

what type of computer do you use? Ive always wondered which one would be the best for college
i use a macbook pro with retina 13 inch. definitely recommend 13 inch otherwise they can be to heavy to lug around to classes, but if you are not in a field that deals a lot of photo/video retina might not be necessary. and if you don't need a lot of storage and such the air works too!
For how many hours lectures are scheduled in a day and for how long is it?Is it that there's no time to sleep?
you can schedule your classes however you want! i have some days with 1 course and some with 3, but it is totally up to you :) (also yes no time to sleep haha)
I'm in Second Yr bachelors of Mass media and planning to do my masters so what are the basic requirements to get into nyu?

not quite sure what you are studying, but you cannot receive your masters from NYU prague. it is just a study abroad site.

you pick based on university requirements :)
then that gives you more freedom in picking your breaks etc?
do you mean holiday breaks? because those are the same for everyone. if you mean breaks throughout the school day then yes, you get to organize that yourself

I'm so sorry for asking this but what does nyu look for in freshman students? I really want to go there but I'm still deciding wether I want to go there or go back to my home country
it's hard for me to know what NYU is looking for. i can only reflect on my personal application. i would say they focus a lot on extracurriculars. like if you know what you want to study, it would be great if your extracurriculars reflect those passions. also, in your essay, make sure you highlight why you want to live in NYC. it's certainly a tough transition for some students and NYU wants to make sure you really want to live here. of course they want great test scores and such as well, but they look at applications holistically :)

ACT: 34, GPA: 98 (weighted out of 100), but everyone's ranges!
How did you get on the newspaper staff? I applied to nyu and am extremely interested in going and being a part of the news staff
during welcome week freshman year i went to the newspaper open house, became a contributing writer and then applied and became a staff writer, then i became the fashion editor and then the social media editor! we are very welcoming :) good luck!

GIRL! What's that "fake math" class actually called?! I'm shit at math lol
LOL it's called "cracking the code: understanding research in health and development," it's in the steinhardt nutrition department! it's the first semester it's being offered!
I see omg haha is it a requirement or are you just taking it? lol i feel like NYU is like that school to have random courses like these hahahah
i am required to take a math course and this is the least math-y one that counts! lol so true i might take a psych class called "love actually" next semester, only at nyu haha
hahaha FR there's a class called love actually?! lol my will to get in gets stronger by the day, I'm coming to the open house soon and I'm beyond excited! Lol the major I require needs math too, and chances are you'd find me in the fake math one lolol hahaha
Zahra Hamim ya! there are a bunch of classes under the major "child and adolescent psychology" and there are ones called science of happiness, twenty somethings, love actually, etc! hope you enjoy the open house!
