Stories like this are so breathtaking. I met a white guy who knew so much about my Jamaican culture and language, I was speechless. He is not from Jamaica but was taught a lot of things by a Jamaican lady who worked for his parents. Loves his jerk chicken and rice and peas. Awesome 😊
I am not Jamaican but I lived down the street from a Jamaican restaurant when I lived in New York City. I was eating that food ALL the time. Jamaican culture has exquisite cuisine. 🖤
This happens in some African countries too. Where nannies took care of white children like their own, pretty much have a strong bond with caregivers than their parents. Some parents were busy at work or not emotionally invested in parenting. So such duties were passed to the nanny. A lot of grown-up white people have that bond with their caregivers. Wish we could hear these testimonies more often.

My maternal grandmother was like that. Her neighbors down the road had children & would come to her house & blend in with her children, eat & play. They looked at Grandama Rachel as their mother until she passed. It was because she spent time with them & loved them!🥰

@@AvecPoesie yes they do..and they embrace their African heritage alot

My grandmother was a "Katie Bell" She worked for a rich Doctor in Chicago. They wanted my grandmother to live with them indefinitely because they loved her so much, but my grandmother didn't want to leave her family. She knew we needed her more. RIH Catherine Hines! I love you..
Great story. I had an auntie who was housekeeper in a white household. The children loved her beyond measure. When she died, they attended her funeral because they “couldn’t not” and cried as much as her real family if not more. When love sees no colour it unites more than divides, is so beautiful to see and you feel blessed just to be a part of it 💝 🙏🏾
They loved what she could "do" for them. Love is comparable
Mammy
My grandma babysat for some white kids. Their family came to her funeral. Same type scenario you described. As far as how they acted at the funeral
I remember seeing Skip talk about Katie Bell on Undisputed a few years ago while Shannon patiently listened and nodded in agreement. I realized how the two have bonded over the years…. Ms. Katie Bell, apparently was one heck of a woman. Thank you Skip Bayless for sharing your love of all! 🌹
Glad to finally hear someone white say this. Our families have told us their experiences for years with the white children they raised
This all very weird

My maternal grandmother was like that. Her neighbors down the road had children & would come to her house & blend in with her children, eat & play. They looked at Grandama Rachel as their mother until she passed. It was because she spent time with them & loved them!🥰
Man, my eyes sweatin!!! Not only was that a beautiful story, it was absolutely heartfelt. On so many levels Skip understands what being a human being having a human experience means. I'm not really a sports fan so idk why it popped up, but I'm glad I watched. This was an honest love story, between a kid and his other mother. I'm glad that someone took him under their wing and made sure he was loved and cared for despite the situation. I know there a lot of "Katie-Bell's" out here. Kids are just kids. They need love, patience, discipline, and understanding. It takes a village to raise well rounded little one's. I'm glad he had that mother figure to help him along his way and shaped and molded him into the man he is today. That was a beautiful story.
