Thank You! Thank You! Lollipop DESTROYED my Nexus 7 2012 ... Been fighting with it for well over a week ... Your Video Was PERFECT and I am So Very Appreciative :-)

By far the best walk through I have found on doing this. Downgraded the wife's Nexus 7 (2012) from Lollipop to Kitkat and it was a breeze following your guide. Thanks a million!!

After lots of "Googling" I eventually came across this video (and the Android Studio one). Followed all your great instructions and now have a Nexus 7 that works just like it did when new. Thanks Jamie great job.

You are an absolute star. It may have taken me 2 days to get to this stage but I now have my beloved Kitkat back on my Nexus. Why Google wanted to turn my tablet into a brick is beyond me and they need to know I will not buy a new one just because they outdate mine with new software. Thanks Jamie

Thank you so much for taking the time to make this detailed video and including all the necessary links as well. After receiving the Lollipop update on my Nexus 7 (2012) it became virtually unusable - crashing every few minutes and mind-numbingly slow. Thanks, Google - you took a perfectly adequate device and bricked it, essentially!
Your instructions gave me the confidence I needed to attempt to downgrade my system to KitKat and it worked flawlessly. Now my tablet is back to normal - here I was about to drop a couple hundred bucks on a new tablet thinking that was my only option. Keep up the good work! I sent you an e-mail as well thanking you. Thanks!

One thing, Jamie.....I'm coming in from "out of the blue" here....and when you get to 3:37 in your video, you say "....platform tools, and you should be familiar with that....."
You lost me! Why should I be familiar with that? Where did you get them/it? Where do I get it?

    Hi Jamie,
Just reverted my Nexus 7 1st gen 2012 Nakasi from Lollipop back to KitKat, as, like a lot of people, I have found it slows it right down.
My Nexus 7 2nd gen 2013 is fine with 5.0.2, but I wanted to help a friend who I'd recommended an old Nexus 7 to two years ago.
Your instructions were very clear, even for someone coming from this side of the pond, here in the UK.
I feel a lot more confident now unlocking the Bootloader and installing different versions of Android. I could have saved myself some money too, had I waited for this, instead of buying one of the remaining 2nd gen Nexus 7s left in Europe.
So thanks a lot, and keep up the good work.

I hope I'm case your device got restart. You have to manually put your device in boot mode. Please follow step , hold power button and volume down button for almost 10 second boot mode will appear and that's it.

Thanks for a very clear and informative video. I have an early 2011/2012 Nexus 7 device and it has never really worked well with Lollipop, even though the 5.1 update improved stability a bit. I tried following some instructions for downgrading to KitKat 4.4.4 and got stuck, this video made the process much clearer and easier to follow. Hopefully I can get a bit more use from this tablet before I have to replace it! Thanks again.

WOW Jamie.....I followed your tutorial to the last word, which was extremely helpful, although I was a bit nervous to be honest. The first time I tried to flash, it seemed to fail due to being unable to transfer. Then I thought shit I've bricked my Nexus 7, but unplugged and then tried again. This time it worked....I am WRAPPED dude, because after 5.1 my tablet was so horrible to use. Now it's back to working like it should on KitKat. I can't thank you enough mate..I've learned alot about Android in the process too.....

Been trying for a week to downgrade my Nexus 4 to kitkat and there's loads of stuff out there telling you how to do it but I seemed to hit a brick wall with each one I tried. Files were missing in downloads, couldn't get a command prompt to appear (eventually had to go into the registry and set it up manually) and various other things. Your tutorial was the only one that was clear enough to follow and IT WORKED!!!
I hope downgrading helps with the issues that I was having, time will tell.
    A BIG thank you.

Great video. Saved my bacon this Christmas. My daughter wanted Lego Fusion. Turns out it only worked on certain devices (not the phones we had, of course). Got a Nexus 7 (2013) (one of the few that are compatible). Had the Lego Fusion app working on prior android versions last night, but the OS did a final update to Marshmallow this morning and the app quit! Had to figure out how to get back to Kit Kat, and this video was key! Thank you for the clear and thorough instructions.

Jamie Wagner I forgot to change my Play store settings, and it auto-updated all the google-based apps, and ruined my phone again. Thankfully I didn't delete the folders, and I did a reset and re-installed again, and this time immediately put it in airplane mode and shut off the auto-updates. My camera now works again! Can't thank you enough for this video. 5.1.1 killed my 2012 Nexus 7 WiFi Tablet. It's back again with 4.4.4 !!My only niggle I encountered was as follows:1. adb reboot bootloader worked fine2. I then got a "waiting for any device error" after doing the fastboot oem unlock command. This was infinite.I noticed in device manager that I no longer has a Nexus portable device, but a Generic Device "Android" with a exclamation mark indicated a device fault. I updated driver using the stock Android device USB driver and the device was repaired. The oem unlock command then worked and I was then able to Flash-all. This maybe of use to your viewers. Thanks Again! Much Appreciated

Although I had a hard time to get the ADT Bundle (could only do it downloading by torrent), all the process worked just fine from 5.0.1 to 4.4.4 and back to 5.0.1 once I confirmed the problem with my Nexus 4 is on the hardware and it seems like a huge coincidence, for that issue (touch screen going completely crazy with ghost touchs and all that) being triggered right after update my Nexus 4 from 5.0.0 to 5.0.1....
Sad to have to buy a new phone, happy to have learned all that process on your videos very well detailed and explained.

Your instructions for downgrading Android 5 to 4.4.4 are absolutely wonderful. Google has made it so much complicated and extremely difficult that I had no idea of how to do it but your instructions made it possible.
I've had a 2012 Nexus 7 for about a year and it upgraded to 4.4.4 several months ago and worked just fine. When Google gave me the option to upgrade to 5.02 a few days ago, I took advantage of it. However, in a few days, I found that 5.02 did not work well with my 2012 Nexus 7. So I decided I should then downgrade back to 4.4.4.
Wanting to downgrade in recent days, I spent around 10 hours, trying to follow other instructions that I found on the web, to downgrade from 5.0 to 4.4.4, from at least four or five providers, that had put the instructions on the web in recent weeks but ALL of them were not successful. However, when I found your youtube and followed your instructions, it worked just fine.
I should add that I am a retired electrical engineer with about 35 years experience with PCs and several years experience with both Android and Apple tablets so I can certainly follow instructions that are capable of being successful.
Your instructions were so good and helpful that I'd like to send you a payment of appreciation. So please let me know how I can do that.
The only part of your instructions that gave me a little trouble was being able to find what was needed in the "platform tools" folder. I would suggest that you provide some text explaining how to obtain the things in "platform tools".

Do I follow your tutorial exactly apart from downloading the Nexus 7 KitKat image?
