I think they are blowing everyone away, and i totally called it. Metallica were sick and tired of napster and lars drumming and ahhhhh fuck here listen to this booom!!! and now we are here listening with this look on our face 🙂
James voice sounds much better here than the original record imo. For me his voice sounds like his '90s voice (but a little bit different) anyways it's just awesome!
it'll sound better on vinyl too. too much info is lost when they press it to mp3 and CD. FLAC is as close to the original cut as you can get too. But personally i enjoy vinyl because it eliminates the bass and you get that raw crunch the way it was meant to sound
yeah, it's got the same formula as trapped. when it started though, i thought they were covering a Slayer song. I cna't name it at the moment but i can hum it. heh.
They opened with this song at the Toronto concert and it was almost like a transcendent experience for me, it was the most perfect, and strongest opening they could've done for the show.
This genuinely sounds so good I love that the bass stands out on its own and doesn't get drowned out in the mix and James's vocals are getting better and better
Yep ... If you add the new stuff from Megadeth, overkill and Anthrax you can listen how old thrash is coming back :D ... Leave Slayer alone they've always sounded the same so they don't count ... Even repentless sounds the same and they have Gary Holt playing it ... Lol ...
The start? Every other of the big 4 has new albums plus new albums from Testament, Suicidal Tendencies and Death Angel among others... if anything Metallica is late to the new wave
Crusty Farts It is not about new albums or else, it is about the fact that all old bands did a very little good records in recent times, with zero new ideas and changing their style to match modernity, while new bands just copy from the old thrash. Now there are new ideas and a modernized thrash, ready to be followed by other bands. I hope in some new stuff.
This is the song that made me aware of this band. It's the first of their songs I have purchased. I now have 15 and counting. At 65 and just retired, all I knew before this was Napster and their bass player died. I'm enjoying my education.
lol if he sounded like the Master/Justice/Black days now that would be goo, sounding like load/reload is average, i wish James hadn't lost his voice :(
It takes a lot of energy at that age to keep banging out songs like this. Absolutely Awesome! They still have it it just must be hard to maintain after months of touring. It's a gift that they keep doing it.
my name is juan carlos Gonzalez...proud to be latino..from el salvador..i came into the United States in 1986..was 17 years old...i didn't speak English at all...however when i heard master of puppet i went so crazy about mettalica even i didn't understand a word what they saying but eversince mettalica is my number one ever and for the rest of my life...i toll my kids that when I die on my coffins i want a ear phone with mettalica music and illbe happy to go wherever i llgo
Wow! That was better than I expected. They are sometimes a little sloppy in situations like this, but not here. This is Mettalica running on all cylinders.
The bass mix on this set from the Howard Stern Show is so fantastic. Makes me want to have them go through every song they've ever done with the bass cranked and with that amazing Warwick Bass tone.
Does anyone else think James' voice sounds great lately? I do. To me, he sounded terrible the last (almost) ten years. He was getting hard to listen to. But, he sounds so much better in the recent live performances I've watched online lately.
Lars sucks at keeping a tempo. You can clearly hear it in this one, too. He just randomly speeds up or slows down at random moments in the song, that’s what makes him so bad. Also, every drummer is constantly under adrenaline because the drums are probably the physically most challenging instrument out of them all. That’s no excuse for a man who has been playing them in the world’s biggest metal band for almost 40 consecutive years
Metallica still maintain until now..great and nice music..i hope my favorite band Metallica bring new song and great song..i to speak Congratulation my favorite band Metallica..rock headbanging never die...🎸🎤🎶
Robs choice to do 8th notes underneath the guitars 16th is so smart, it gives those fast parts such a bigger bass sound than they would otherwise. Also gives it a Cliff feel.
Also on Moth Into Flame at Webster Hall...great performance but no double bass...i really wish Lars would explain himself so the fans wouldnt have to argue about it constantly.
Watch Metallica's FULL 2016 interview now: siriusxm.us/MetallicaHSS16
put the whole interview on youtube
Kirk's solo is a postmodern minimalist parody of his other solos. absolut genius
lol
lol :D
Absolut vodka?
hinjurock aaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahaha !!!! no.
Yeah , okay ......
2:58 - thats 80's James right there!
yes!!
I think they are blowing everyone away, and i totally called it. Metallica were sick and tired of napster and lars drumming and ahhhhh fuck here listen to this booom!!! and now we are here listening with this look on our face 🙂
MrDemon3d oh yes
AAAHHH I just love the way he "sings" this line!
Lol no, that's not even 90's James
James voice sounds much better here than the original record imo. For me his voice sounds like his '90s voice (but a little bit different) anyways it's just awesome!
Yeah, he sounds alot like the Justice days.
maybe cause they play half step down
it'll sound better on vinyl too. too much info is lost when they press it to mp3 and CD. FLAC is as close to the original cut as you can get too. But personally i enjoy vinyl because it eliminates the bass and you get that raw crunch the way it was meant to sound
RickGrimes41 CORRAAAAL
I totally agree!
Holy crap its played so fast!!!! It sounds even more amazing
they're timeless legends
It's really amazing and the whole recording is just ear bleeding(in good sense). Nothing can beat studio recorded sound.
SO fast that they used alternate picking sometimes
Would have sounded even more amazing if Lars had played the fills before the chorus and the db parts but....
This band will be famous one day.
Lol!
irony i wish ^^
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA killed me xD
lol
yeah i see a bright future for them if they stick with it
The older Lars gets, the more he reminds me of Emperor Palpatine. He will show you the dark side of the force... \m/
the dark side of no live double bass.... (insert generic laugh)
lol this is the best comment I have ever heard of Lars ever!
jajajajajjajajajajaj the dark side of the music.
duuuudeeee you are so right
Oh heck yeah... and every year he loses a drum! In a few years he'll be playing a single snare like he's back in highschool band.
Damn...this sounds even better live.
Hell yes !!. 10x better live
Cant wait to see them Aug 16 in Edmonton . GA floors...should be a blast
Stern has an amazing audio guy or whatever they call em, I can hear the bass hella fine
They're a professional live band before they are a studio band
Yes I heard it live and it was amazing
"We're so fucked, shit out of luck". Great line.
Ya, Tenacious D's "Beelzeboss" is pretty badass.
Literally on that tenacious d record
I actually think it's the worst line from the whole song, sounds like they couldn't come up with a better rhyme
James is so fucked,
shit out of voice,
hardwired was not good choice.
tedGEGI Very appropriate for the times.
So it took 8 years for the album but they can write a song like this beast in about 2 weeks 🤔
That's exactly what I said ... Those MF know how to make me love them and make me hate them at the same time LMAO
lol. on point
Mikew8095 Hopefully we'll get something like All Nightmare Long for all of the 8 years of waiting xD
It's not that the album took a long time.. they're just lazy
Escape from Ride the Lightning was like that a last minute thing James considers it filler and hates it but I think it's amazing.
James' voice hasn't sounded this good in 20 years.
J totally agree, he’s turned a corner
Its a studio version
It's unreal how good his vocals are here.
Mega props to the mixer for making this sound great unlike most live streamed sets.
I see Rob is looking more Vertical these days
😅😂
Hahahahahahahahahahaha
He doesn't have space to crab walk there lol
Howard Sterns life definitely does not suck lol. It's like Metallica performing in your living room
I would love to see Lars play like this at every show.
last time i came this early my girlfriend left me
Fuck you all retards with your early jokes, seriously
yes upbote a bad joke
dude.. lol
I am sure your pig doesn't think of herself as your girlfriend.
Fidde F how original
James voice is owesome in his 50, nothing said.
53 I mean.
THIS IS METALLICA!! And Justice For All and earlier...awesome...and sounds great live!!
Yeah, at their best.
I agree. Alot of people say the Black Album. But, I'm "Justice" and earlier.
The boys are KILLING IT right now! Can't wait for this album to finally come out :D
holy shit robs fingers are fast
Mouaz Chikhani "No one's played that fast since Cliff" -Lars, 2003
if i was a woman, I could only imagine what those fingers could do to me
That's what she said...
He must have a lucky wife
This song reminds me to Trapped Under Ice
yeah, it's got the same formula as trapped. when it started though, i thought they were covering a Slayer song. I cna't name it at the moment but i can hum it. heh.
Exactly what I thought.
Same band
thats like the best compliment you could give it
Just a little bit
They opened with this song at the Toronto concert and it was almost like a transcendent experience for me, it was the most perfect, and strongest opening they could've done for the show.
James´ voice on 2:58 are so AMAZING! WOOOW
The sound and mixing in this is just so perfect! Super thrashy. James sounds amazing
This genuinely sounds so good I love that the bass stands out on its own and doesn't get drowned out in the mix and James's vocals are getting better and better
Now this could be a new start for the old dead thrash metal. Something like a new wave.
Yep ... If you add the new stuff from Megadeth, overkill and Anthrax you can listen how old thrash is coming back :D ... Leave Slayer alone they've always sounded the same so they don't count ... Even repentless sounds the same and they have
Gary Holt playing it ... Lol ...
Yeah, especially considering that the rest of the big 4 have released good stuff recently too. Plenty of new, amazing material.
Luca Del Vecchio dystopia definitely could have a big factor too
The start? Every other of the big 4 has new albums plus new albums from Testament, Suicidal Tendencies and Death Angel among others... if anything Metallica is late to the new wave
Crusty Farts
It is not about new albums or else, it is about the fact that all old bands did a very little good records in recent times, with zero new ideas and changing their style to match modernity, while new bands just copy from the old thrash. Now there are new ideas and a modernized thrash, ready to be followed by other bands. I hope in some new stuff.
But we'll never stop. We'll never quit 'Cause we're Metallica.))
james voice😎😎😎
Lars is slowly becoming Michael Keaton
thebreatho So true 😂
John Lithgow
thebreatho he's more like anthony hopkins
lol "I'm... Batman!"
thebreatho or John Lithgow
How can anyone "dislike this"? You sad lonely creature with an internet connection. Tallica is BACK.
They're the same people who have been throwing fits since 1991 because Metallica hasn't put out Master of Puppets clones for the subsequent 25 years.
megadeath fans lol
Röadhed tallica is always there ;)
This is the song that made me aware of this band. It's the first of their songs I have purchased. I now have 15 and counting. At 65 and just retired, all I knew before this was Napster and their bass player died. I'm enjoying my education.
avlisk Congratulations, but save yourself some money and just get Spotify or listen to them here on RUclips.
the guitar tone is brutal. Brutal as fuck
Sounds amazing. Het really sounds like the Load/Reload days again. Fuckin killer \m/
hell yeah it does!! this shit sounds pretty convincing this is going to be a great album
Your ears need urgent cleaning.
Not quite as good as back then, much better than the Death Magnetic live recordings though! Still incredible after all he's done and been through.
lol if he sounded like the Master/Justice/Black days now that would be goo, sounding like load/reload is average, i wish James hadn't lost his voice :(
A big fuck you to all the people who thinks he lost the grit in his voice.
Metallica is back, baby, as if they ever left.
It takes a lot of energy at that age to keep banging out songs like this. Absolutely Awesome! They still have it it just must be hard to maintain after months of touring. It's a gift that they keep doing it.
Nice sound on Howard Stern Show!!
Great!
охрененно звучат! )
I'm so fucking impressed...especially with John lithgow on the drums.
OctopusVolcano ha ha ha
jajaja Lithgow good one
OctopusVolcano I SEE IT
it seems they're in a very very good shape again.
Metallica is in a Gold shape...tallica is back baby
yes, they truly seem to be in a good place right know.
30+years and still putting out straight fire!
my name is juan carlos Gonzalez...proud to be latino..from el salvador..i came into the United States in 1986..was 17 years old...i didn't speak English at all...however when i heard master of puppet i went so crazy about mettalica even i didn't understand a word what they saying but eversince mettalica is my number one ever and for the rest of my life...i toll my kids that when I die on my coffins i want a ear phone with mettalica music and illbe happy to go wherever i llgo
Why the fuck was your nationality and the fact you're proud to be latino needed?
My name is Pancho I work in the rancho i get 10 pesos a day, I go to Lucy to get some poucy & she takes my 10 pesos away
Emil Jantzen Seriously
diiiiiiidddnnnnt reeeaaad
+Emil Jantzen
It was very much needed. If he didn't tell me he was a proud latino I would have assumed he was a giraffe with self esteem issues.
It doesn't get better then THIS !!! :)
Thx Howard :D
I can see this band going places!
Yeah they may just make it
I can't tell if you guys are joking or not
All g jus joking
They'll never make it
lmao, maybe they can't open for megadeth
Looking pretty good for dudes in their 50s
Especially good for dudes who has done drugs :P
and whit a few billions on top
Chuck Fukin Billy St Anger for that matter :P
Lars looks old...like, grandpa old.
cocaine !
the voice sound Great and all the band amazing!
Wow! That was better than I expected. They are sometimes a little sloppy in situations like this, but not here. This is Mettalica running on all cylinders.
Sounds great.Im buying the new album. .i heard it on a sacramento rock station.the bass sounds bad ass also
I'll buy it too. Metallica kicks ass!!
The bass mix on this set from the Howard Stern Show is so fantastic. Makes me want to have them go through every song they've ever done with the bass cranked and with that amazing Warwick Bass tone.
Damn James is sounding so good !!! can't wait for the album !!
Does anyone else think James' voice sounds great lately? I do. To me, he sounded terrible the last (almost) ten years. He was getting hard to listen to. But, he sounds so much better in the recent live performances I've watched online lately.
I’ve only been listening to Metallica for a couple of years, but these guys are AWESOME 🤟🏻😝
damn this sounds soooooo good!!!! mixing done right, loud bass, heavy, fast, crunchy riffs, THIS is metallica
I always love it when they did a little live show such as this...
I cannot think of any Metallica song more appealing to me than this.. Simply awesome! God bless the band!!
James's voice sounds really good here.
This song is so good, it would be another classic if it were released back 1986.
Metallica rules!!!
Great performance and tone, finally mixing guy did his job.!
Great Metallica "Sound'!! Can't wait to get the new album. This sounds awesome!
Man. Hetfield's voice sounds awesome.
Oh gosh this is epic !
I can imagine im running in the circle in the mosh pit .....
wait... IV'E SEEN YOU BEFORE!
Ghost and metallica 2 of my favorite bands .. Papa love your music \,,/
Not as good as Battery or Blackened as the opening song for the album. But pretty much close.
Well those are legendary and it was in their prime. This is more like Hit the lights to be honest if to be compared to openers.
Can Coşkun They have reached their prime decades ago. But this album is promising. Could be their best material since Black Album.
Hope so, We'll see.
Fight Fire With Fire?
they're 53 years old
What are you waiting for
They simply love what they are doin'! This piece marches on!!! 🤘😁👍
Figth fire with fire met Metal Militia at a slayer's Diner. Here is the baby. I don't know who did the mix but it sounds WAY better than the CD.
My favorite song. I love these short fast great songs.👍👍👍👍👍
This song is fucking brutal! Love it.
Hard to ask for any better from these guys. Bravo, excellent track and album.
Lars can play GREAT when he's not full of adrenaline. He just rushes his accents and fills when he's playing in those big stadiums and arenas.
Not quiet your tempo hu?
Lars sucks at keeping a tempo. You can clearly hear it in this one, too. He just randomly speeds up or slows down at random moments in the song, that’s what makes him so bad. Also, every drummer is constantly under adrenaline because the drums are probably the physically most challenging instrument out of them all. That’s no excuse for a man who has been playing them in the world’s biggest metal band for almost 40 consecutive years
It's freaking amazing!!
I cant believe one band can make every single one of their song this good!
When I very first heard this song I thought it was slayer...then I was like holy shit...thats Metallica!! They impressed me with this one.
Love this song
James is such a master
Holy shit the mixing on this performance is great , james voice is on point
Whatever JH is doing to maintain his voice...it's working. p.s. Just bring the wah back bro. You know what I mean.
Metallica still maintain until now..great and nice music..i hope my favorite band Metallica bring new song and great song..i to speak Congratulation my favorite band Metallica..rock headbanging never die...🎸🎤🎶
amazing performance!!!
Robs choice to do 8th notes underneath the guitars 16th is so smart, it gives those fast parts such a bigger bass sound than they would otherwise. Also gives it a Cliff feel.
The live tone is fucking brutal !
This Should be the "official" video for Hardwired! Absolutely KILLER!!
I know a classic riff when I hear one, and this is it
Going to see them LIVE in Copenhagen February 3rd...and again the 7th... YES!!!
Why not let the video go a little more for howard's reaction smh
Yea lol
WOW, JAMES SOUNDS FANTASIC, AND SO DOES THE BAND LIVE ON HOWARD STERNS SHOW. LOVE THIS SONG.
They nailed that!
Gotta give these guys props. They are the kings of modern metal. And they're sounding better than they have in years. Kicking ass again!
GIDDY UP!!
ĸramer! :-)
at 2:04, when James shouted "hahah"... so fucking awesome!
Good to see Lars without anything in his head
Aldo Brändli Jr I know. He is so self conscious about his balding
Literally nothing.
yeah anything at all!!! ha..
I like Lars, but only if he could work on that double bass and toms, we would have a brilliant drummer in him :(
Niranjan Pawar
dude.. he's been recording w/ Metallica since very early 80's.. if he hadn't figure it out by now.. he's not going to
Being a Metallica fan for 30 years, they NEVER cease to amaze me! SO FUCKING AWESOME! G.O.A.T
Are you kidding me. This sounds so good 👍 they should just record their albums in howards studio
Sin lugar a dudas, los más Grandes del Rock!!! Larga vida al TITÁN METALLICA!!!
Holy shit. This new stuff...
I just love the fact that these songs still hold up soo good even today. and they are more metal than most bands out there. without even trying.
Everything was sounding great, but c'mon Lars! Why'd you leave out the double bass bits?!
is that a serious question? did you even see his drumming? its atrocious, he gets progressively worse every year
Im pretty sure its there, just the sound aint that good
He looks like he playied ,its just double bass is really low in the mix?
0 stamina dude :////
Also on Moth Into Flame at Webster Hall...great performance but no double bass...i really wish Lars would explain himself so the fans wouldnt have to argue about it constantly.
何回も何回も観てます
サイコーです♪
I'm watching this on Feb 4 2020 and it's only 3 and a half years later but James looks so much younger here.....
This and Moth Into Flame have me hooked. HTSD is the first Metallica album I've been really excited about in a long time. :D
2:52 "wooohooo"
Love it, and u can tell james is really proud of it when the kick in at the start
Anyone else waiting for them to do Lux Æterna in the way? 😎😁🤘
Howard Stern always has the best sounds in the studio for music!
Lars looks just like John Lithgow (as Dr. Dick Salomon) from the 3rd rock from the sun :D
Metallica music will never die i love them so much
METALLICA!!!!!!!
