This interviewer does an excellent job, what a lovely man. Vanessa is as engaging off ice as on it. Hard to understand how anyone could even think skin colour when watching her skate, totally irrelevant, she is so utterly professional, graceful, athletic and talented. I am glad she stressed the amount of discipline and dedication that has to be put into producing the few perfect minutes we see in all her performances. Such a shame that Morgan had a lapse of judgement and had to retire. The two of them will not easily be surpassed.

Vanessa, I hope you’ll se my message. Because of personal issues crowding my life- which I imagine you understand- I be been unable to follow ice skating as I once did. But I was so happy to rediscover a passion when I happened upon a colorless video of you and Morgan Cipres skating to “Sounds of Silence” in 2020 in Tokyo. It was a magnificent show of power, beauty, athleticism and artistry. I remember being taught in science that white is the absence of color, and black is the absence of light...together, this film showed the possibilities when black and white are used constructively. When seen as colorless, and used instead for their contributions, then we have a truly strong and powerful production. I was awestruck when I first saw you two skate. All I saw were sinewy bodies of moving art. Little else will ever compete with this vision I will carry in my my mind. It is our obligation to pass this colorblindness along to children, just as we teach science and beauty. It is not nearly as complicated as others would have us believe. Thank you, dear Vanessa.
