Love the involvement of your son, he's the star of this show. Quite knowledgeable, fantastic.
Thanks for the kind comments- I will pass them along to him!
Mulberry trees are great producers and stain everything. A true native Floridian tree.
Man, thank you for posting.
They are awesome and they are messy for sure! I’ll take the mess for the yummy fruit! Thanks for watching!
I love that you and your son share the same enthusiasm for all your plants! My dad used to try to involve me with gardening, and while I fought it at first, I eventually found love for it. 😅 Now we share it in common, and we buy each other fruit trees 🌳 🍊 🍋
That is awesome! As a dad I can tell you that your dad is probably very happy to be able to share his passion with you, and you both will make memories that will last a lifetime. We just subscribed to your channel- keep up the good work!
@IslandsnHighlands Aw, thanks. New subscriber here, I'll be following your journey, too 😊
Its great that you are teaching the children to love the garden and treasure its perduce wonderful
Thanks for your kind comments!
One of my new favorite channels 🤙.
Also, this kid is going to grow up to do great things with the knowledge you’re passing along. I remember always going to a buddies house in highschool where him and his dad grew so many plants, he started a landscaping business after highschool and is probably one of the most successful people I know from school.
Keep it up guys! Killer property
Thanks for the kind comments! Awesome your friend was able to take hos passion and turn it into a living. Its great if you can find something you love and call it work!
Thank you so much for taking the time to do these videos! I absolutely love your garden tours and learn something new with each one. It's amazing how much Teddy knows!
Thanks so much for the kind comments- I will pass them along to Teddy. He does try hard to learn and help out!
Such an epic yard guys. Your kid is going to grow up to be an expert in all areas of nature. Including climbing trees hahaha Yall doing a great job 👏🏼
Thanks for the kind comments! I will pass them along to Teddy- thanks for watching!
Những ngôi nhà và khu vườn thích quá.🎉
Thanks for you kind comments!
Always blown away by Teddy. I love how he loves it too! Can’t for the life of my get my kid to participate with me 😂
Thanks for your kind comments- I will pass them along to Teddy! And of course never give up trying to get the kids involved- they pick up so much, even when they act uninterested :)
Wow Super support 👏
Your son really enjoying the garden 😀
Please do not climbing on Moranga, stems are not that strong. Take care 👍
Thanks- he tried hard and picks up on things quick! I will tell him to be careful climbing the moringa :)
Such a beautiful space, you could use all that dried coconut to make your own coconut oil.. your son is so smart.
Good idea! And thank you for the kind comment- I will pass it along to Teddy!
Love your videos and your son is adorable. Miracle fruit and fish😂.
Thanks for the kind comments!!!
Paradise ❤
:)
Beautiful
Thank you!
You has fantastic garden, and you has a smart son. Congratulation.
Thanks for the kind comments!
Try putting a piece of rotting fruit or fruit scrap under the sugar apple to encourage flies for pollination. The flowers are too small for bees to pollinate.
We will give that a try!
I love your plants! My banana plants are struggling to fruit due to the cold season. Where is zone 10a? I'm also from FLORIDA. I pruned my moringa trees last winter that's why they are now bushy.
Some of Florida's barrier islands (from central Florida down) are zone 10a, as well as much of south Florida, which gets to 10b in the southern reaches. Though USDA just updated there zones to include much more of Florida (even up to Polk and Osceola counties) in zone 10a, I can tell you for a fact more tropical plants like coconut palms, lychees, etc will not make it through most winters in there areas...
Asome organic garden..!!
I am growingup the tropical island in south Asia .. and I familiar bunches of this trees & plants ...! ❤
Awesome- we get a lot of inspiration from Asian gardens. You live in a beautiful part of the world!
Thank you very much for the tour
Your welcome!
Love the music :)
Thanks- tring to keep it tropical!
Impressive, Teddy!! 🎉
Thanks for the nice comment- I will pass it along to him!
You should grow some passion fruit
I know- we have a KILLER huge vine that gave us literally hundreds of fruits for about 3 years, then died :) We have 2 more planted but they are just starting off...
You home is so beautiful; I love the red brick! Where in Central Florida are you? Im looking for videos for people similar to my location near St. Pete.
Thanks for the kind comments! We like the brick as well- it contrasts well with the colorful tropical plants. We are on a barrier island in Brevard county... St. Pete is a beautiful spot!!!
@@IslandsnHighlands Brevard County here will u be attending the Downtown Melbourne Botanical Fest on Sat, April 13th 2024??
You have quite the collection! How often do you have to go through to trim and clean up the plants for new growth? I am just north of you, coastal Volusia Co, so I enjoy seeing what is able to thrive in our climate.
While we like to work in the garden as often as possible, we have found one big day a month is sufficient to keep everything looking good (of course this does not count mowing the lawn, picking up palm fronds, etc which has to be done weekly or even more often). You should be able to grow almost everything we can, especially if you are coastal...
Grow jack fruit!
Yes! We have started many from seed (probably 10-15), but the bunnies keep eating the young plants :(
@@IslandsnHighlands; Eating bunnies can help solve problems! 🐰 😅
Have you eaten the root from your variegated cassava? I was told that it was not edible. Idk I couldn’t find any information about it online. Mines ready to harvest as well. Everything is looking good 👍 Thanks for sharing
Yes you can eat it just as you would eat the common green variety!
Thank you!!
I noticed you have an elephant ear, also known as taro! You can harvest the root of it and boil it and eat it like a potato
Yes- we have never tried it though. I know the Hawaiians make Poi out of it (I've never tried that either)...
@@IslandsnHighlands I heard it's similar taste to a sweet potato, I used to have some but gave the plant to a friend
I thought taro and elephant ear were two different things?
@@anoceanofideas nope!
Just curious, when were you all able to get this property? It also looks like a multi-family property as well. Haven't seen anything like it unless it's common to the area. Pretty huge in general and being central coast in Florida it's perfect for gardening.
We purchased this property in 2019- it is a single family home with a small detached guest house. We owned two other homes in this neighborhood before purchasing this one- we love gardening here!!!
How big is your property? I love all the eatable’s
Thanks! We have approx. 1.3 acres.
Amazing job. And even better you have the entire family involved.
Did the passion fruit come back?
No it died completely. We ave 2 more vines planted up front- just not much to look at right now...
Was hoping to see a vegetable garden.
I know- vegetables unfortunately dont do very well on our island and in our soil (sand). We do have some perennial leafy greens planted (Malabar spinach, Lagos spinach, longevity spinach, Katuk, etc).
11:14 is that a malanga?
I am not sure exactly what cultivar that is- we found it in a landscape debris pile on the side of the road.
Do you guys do private tours?
No not at this time. We are a registered FL nursery and will probably one day have a retail location / garden open to the public. Thanks for checking out our channel!
Have you ever planted a Surinam Cherry Tree? Very delicious fruit. I bet they would grow well there.

We have two black Surinam Cherry trees we grew from seed and one got fruit this year! They are delicious to eat as is but haven’t found any good recipes for them yet
waitingforpruningVEDEO
Gotcha- we will do one later this year when the trees are not in bloom.
