I am from Jammu and when I was a kid, my father used to sing this song. Those were the days living in this beautiful city of Jammu and growing up. I have very fond memories. Now I dont live in J&K anymore as life moved on but life is not the same anymore. I really miss my childhood.
Once upon a time in the Indian Navy there used to be a cadre known as Artificer Apprentice who used to undergo 4 years of marine engineering training at INS Shivaji,Lonavla.They were divided in to different groups (Division) and there used to be annual competition among art an other trainee (including Officer cadre) and sailors on sports,cultural programmes, Quiz etc.The competition was very very fierce among divisions (Something like do or die type competition).This song was used in one dance sequence where 17-18 years boys mostly fair skinned conducted this group dance after weeks of very hard practice . Make up, costume and the foot work was so perfect , and meticulous that next day people from other division complained that these guys used outside professional girl dancer in this sequence so should be disqualified but later came to know the truth..Off course no need to mention they got the first prize in cultural programme that year. 36 years down the line it is nostalgic to hear this song.And no sir I was not in that division.
Very melodious song. I heard this for the first time from a Dogri friend. since then have been looking for the same. Our local languages are so rich in terms of music and dance that one can spend hours listening to these.
