I was so amazed when I visited the Tretyakov, especially the old one, Russian paintings are so impressive and filled with emotions... I was wondering why their names are not as famous as so many other artists from other countries, then my husband (he's Russian) told me it must be bc most Russian art remained in Russia, so it didn't spread around the world. At least we can see all of them and have an incredible experience in Russia or in a RUclips video like this :) thanks for putting this together!

That's can be a reason, why the names of Russians painters are not famose. One of the most famous painter Polenov was about to load his paints on the Titanic. But the burocracy slowed down the process with documents, so, he was late for this shipping. Shortly after he learnt that Titanic drowned. He was shocked and never again wanted his art travel anywhere. Though in his case, after his death, Soviet government sent his about 70 pictures to USA for exhibition in 1960th. All those pictures disappeared, none were returned to Russian.

It is because of the American doctrine of "American Exceptionalism". Why acknowledge the greatness of any foreign artists (especially our cold war enemies) when it is a foregone conclusion that American artists are with certainty the greatest in the world? Eventually, American Exceptionalism will reside in the dustbin of history. Hopefully, sooner rather than later.

Not a fair nor reasonable answer to the question. Artists from many nations and many eras are treasured by Americans: The Renaissance masters, the Dutch School, portrait painters from many nations throughout history. Most of our museums are filled with masterpieces from many nations, especially Europe. Your answer exhibits more about your politics than your knowledge of the American art scene and history.

@@peterpuleo2904 Paintings from other Countries go around the World many times over ,exhibited, sold and bought at Auctions and in Galleries. There is a lot of fanfare over the most popular and what is "In" at that moment in time. And who the Artists know ..their connections plays a big part too . In Russia ,their Art stays in Russia thus they will never be widely known with few exceptions like the Great Ocean Scenes painter Eugene Garin . But even he , moved to California where he became quite famous . If he had stayed in the Soviet Union, Odesa, Ukraine (which it was called at the time ....he would be probably unheard of today.

Beautiful pictures, beautiful music and fantastic artists BUT I do find the sudden transition from one picture to another simply doesn’t match the mood of the slow music. As I drift into one of the images, being transported by the music, I find I am suddenly jolted into another image which spoils the magic. I feel the video would have been better if the images had been faded in and out rather than a sudden jolt. But hey, that’s only my opinion.
