@@kenwaugh7 To be honest I have never really thought about it. I have always felt that we were fine with having a king. These days I'm not so sure. Nah sorry Warren you lost me there mate. It’s still a divisive insult to Australian citizens to have an aboriginal political activist welcome us to our own country. A welcome to country isn’t even being used as aboriginals intended. It has been weaponised by those whose goal is for the so called colony to fall. Therefore I turn my back on it as Pauline has called for. It’s a bloody disgrace these people happily hold their hand out for tax payer dollars they happily take advantage of all of the great things our ancestors have provided to our country while calling for the state to fall.

Its a time to remember all of our achievements. A time to get together as family, friends and the community to enjoy a great day. In recent years, there has been too much debate about the political correctness of just about everything. You can't please everyone all the time, so let's go with the majority rules.
As for Mt Kosciuszko, just leave it as it is. It has worldwide recognition, it doesn't need changing.

Yeh well I’ve had a welcome to country
Whilst camping at a free camp near Innisfail in Queensland
A group of first Australians arrived (30) and started yelling it’s our country and banging on caravans and pushing tents down
More than half of the campers left in a hurry
    Luckily people called the police
That finished it for that night but it continued for 5 nights
I’m a elderly man with more titanium in than an aircraft ( both knees prosthetic, 4 spinal fusion’s, total shoulder reconstructions ) and I have to be subjected to this crap
Luckily my dog a Labrador size dog became protective of me
So next day with my dog tied up they put 5 smaller dogs onto my dog
Then more blacks arrived with bull mastiff’s
What was I to do , take out my rifle and sit there with a firearm
That would concern everyone, and certainly not what I would want
So I had to leave under yelling
    It’s our country
    Bullshit

Like it or not, every country is a mix of indigenous and immigrant citizens. Virtually every country on earth has been subject to invasion and “colonisation” at some time in history. Smart civilisations adapt and accept the best that both worlds have to offer.
Political Bigots have no place in meaningful ceremonies like “Welcome to Country”, spreading hatred and division.
Warren Mundine - what a wonderful Ambassador for both Aboriginal people AND his immigrant forefathers. We need more people like him to bring ALL Australians together as a one, diverse people NOT a divided people.

I don't believe the length of time they claim to have been here anyway. The first people, Adam and Eve , were only created about 6-7,000 years ago according to Bible family history facts. When they say multiple thousands of years, I wonder what they were meant to be DOING all those years? Not invent the wheel. Adam and Eve's sons , just one generation down , built cities .

If they change it to a 'welcome to country' for Captain Cook and there onwards, I'm in, otherwise it's my back you get. It should be about the oldest Australians (aboriginals) and the First Nations (Aboriginal and Settlers) people, united, as one.

I was present at tbe Auckland marae when Stevie wonder was welcomed ! Lovely and appropriate! We can learn mutch from their grace and wisdom and the way they conduct suthch matters. It was warm and close friendly, not flash for the public but intimate for Stevie and the children.

Shame, shame shame … multiculturalism is negative for this reason. As tucker carlson recently stated … “they want you to dislike this country, so you don’t complain when they take it from you” ** broadly speaking **

Youre wrong, Warren. The welcome to country and other random modern Aboriginal inventions do need to he banned from public events. They are what's causing division. We're all Australians today, and having these random people, especially on nationally televised events, telling us we're welcome in our own homes... Thats offensive. Tge implication is that we need to have some stranger give us permission to be in our own homes, in our own towns. I don't need that bloke's permission at all.
The only exception is if its a specifically Aboriginal event, where you're going in knowing that's what it is.
Otherwise, why stop with just the aboriginal bit? Why not include a Christian coming to pray and give a little sermon before the football or at the kids school assembly? Why not? It would create division to leave out the Christians, wouldn't it?

If you go to Arnhem Land maybe you could get a welcome to country, but not in the city, as most of us are Australians, and have live here all our lives, plus this is only a very new concept, as it was not around in the last century, well this is just another imposition put on us by Gough Whitlam, who gave as the Aboriginal Industry, and Multiculturalism, and are past their use by date...!!

Aboriginals named places to identify what and where they were talking about to others, Europeans did exactly the same, for the same reason.
