- You most likely have met LinLin as the lesson coordinator here at Tone Labs, but did you know that she is also a renowned Erhu performer who has toured internationally? We took the opportunity to invite her into the studio to record a beautiful tune we heard her perform recently and the experience was simply phenomenal!

@tintin snowy the Erhu replicate the sadness of human voice that the violin can't.
Because the Erhu is similar to human voice so it can express more feelings that the violin couldn't.
It's not the instrument . It's the player

With no exaggeration, I will say that this song from Laputa saved my sanity and relationships many times. It has thus become one of the most emotionally charged songs in my life, and the expressiveness in this version blew me away! LinLin, your performance here was stunning!
非常动听的声音，没有过多的炫技，现在很多二胡大师拉二胡容易犯的毛病就是炫技，使得演奏失去了二胡的嵌入灵魂的声音本质，喜欢你这样的演绎，比较完美的表现了二胡如泣如诉的特质。

So sad and beautiful at the same time. The Erhu can replicate the sadness of the human voice that the violin can't and only using 2 string.
Sorry, but I have hear similar from a violin. This erhu is just as good as that violin cover that I heard.
@@kennyljs you can push the string down further down to produce a deeper tone, that sound is enhance when sliding to another note on the erhu that you can't never do on a violin; hence produce notes the violin can never generate.
Why the violin can never replicates it?
It is because On the bridge of the violin, you can only goes down 0.5mm at the most while on the erhu, you can go up to 2.5mm+

Erhu has deeper and penetrating sound / atmodphere / vibe than violin , even in its highest note its doesnt hurt the membrant of the ears, its transition between note to note so delicately elegant with power of gentleness ,

I am currently totally stunned by this performance. Never saw this instrument before, but it sounds amazing. It is such a warm and covering sound which goes directly into your heart and soul. Thank you very much for this performance. It gave me a feeling of "everything is good" in this hard Corona times.

Oh my god, I used to watch this on an old battered recorded vhs tape everyday, and I mean every day, when I was a kid, so much so its still mentioned in my family to this day. It was called 'Laputa : The Flying Island' back then, it took a few decades for me to rediscover it as 'Castle In The Sky'. It was like reuniting with an old childhood best friend. I watched it recently and it was still amazing. This performance does it justice and brought back some great memories so thank you. Thank you very much.

Wow beautiful in Erhu
Listening to this, watching this and how passionately she plays...makes me regret ever dropping my violin just because the teacher made it nearly unbearable to play...I could've gone so far with the violin...but I dropped it because I felt like I was suffocating in that room. Sometimes I wonder if I can go back and start to play like how I used to. But that all takes money and the time I'm not sure if I can even commit myself to. Why bother with something if it's just going to end up being a waste of time and money.
Besides what I loved about the violin was not because the violin itself. But I just simply loved to play with the group, I never cared what chair I got, in fact I wanted to be at the very back! (Even if those people weren't always on beat and sometimes I messed up along with them). For me it was just how much fun it was to play in the concerts no matter how bad we played (and we played terribly because no one practices even me, only the few try-hards practiced as we called them). I had fun and man do I miss the times when we played together.
Ame Stinnett your post made me sad. I m not musically inclined but what you convey is a sincere desire to continue. I hope you do someday. This world needs more people who keep trying even tho they don’t feel they measure up. Wishing for you some perseverance in something you once liked. This song is reason enough to press on.
