I love this!!! My Great-Uncles, uncles, dad and older brothers all dug coal, but the mines shut down in 2016, dad and I work in an underground limestone mine now!! It ain't coal, but we're still in the belly of the beast with an ear to the back and an eye on the ribs!!! God bless ya'll and stay safe!!
Thanks for the song. I'm the last one who worked in the pit after 4 generations of coal miners from Asturias, north Spain . Now all the mines are closed :(
I'm a granddaughter of a coal miner's. My mom's only brother died from the mines black lung took my pawpaw. My hero. Been years still hurts. Your song paints what mines are like. I'm WV mountain girl and know the coal mining
4th generation, 15 years underground come end of May , we fight we bust are ass , we break our backs for our family, we are brother I wouldn't change my career or my life for anything , stay safe yall and roll big coal boys !
Old miner here best times of my life I loved the work lived it will miss it when my last vision fades from my tearful eyes. A lot don’t understand the brotherhood you form the bond with family’s I’d give any and all for all my brothers God Bless every man and woman to walk or crawl a shaft or section I was a red hat in 85 a few good old boys from Kentucky took me in taught me to mine coal here in West by god Virginia those men were some of the very best miners I’ve ever known thank you boys for what you did for an old wv boy trying to feed a family I would never had made it without em. Taught me all I know thanks for an amazing song we needed it 😢😢😢❤️
Been mining coal for going on 15, would love to do something else but I honestly don’t know what I could do,nothing else seems right. Lost my grandfather years ago to black lung…watched him struggle to take every…single…breath the last couple years. He used to love to sit on his couch and have breakfast with me talking nothing but coalmining. He was a different breed of miner, hell a different breed of man altogether honestly. I really miss him very much. His passing…it’s got “easier” but I’ve never got over it…just hit me different. Love you Gawaa! Navy vet and a hard working miner man.
