In bakers defense, before Baker got to Cleveland a player like desaun Watson wouldn't even pick up the phone for the Cleveland browns. Before Baker the browns went like 1-31 in two seasons. Not saying Baker is a top 5 qb in the NFL and desaun Watson is but bakers story of walking on and starting for two big time schools and then being part of turning the Cleveland browns around is underappreciated by most. Baker has always bet on himself and it usually works out for him. Let's not forget Baker was compared to Johnny manziel coming out of the draft, to winning a playoff game for the Cleveland browns, first in 26 years? I believe. Baker also had to deal with playing for the laughing stock of the NFL, new head coach and offensive coordinator every year. I get the NFL is a business but like I said before Baker came to Cleveland a player like Watson would never even consider playing in Cleveland and now browns just hold on to Baker, drag him through the mud and basically doing him dirty.
You are absolutely right..Browns treatment of Baker Mayfield is appalling.. even suffering with a painful left shoulder and other injuries he kept playing.. the Browns should have at least given him the chance to play after his shoulder surgery healed.. hope that whatever team gets him will appreciate Bakers skill and charisma.. he gave Cleveland so much and they treated him terribly.. would love to see him take whatever team he ends up with to the Super Bowl.. he deserves far better than the treatment he has received with the Browns.. Baker is my hero.. I believe in him and that he will be successful in a huge way if given the chance.. no matter where he ends up I am his fan forever💙🌹💙
Yes, Baker deserves a shot somewhere and I hope he gets it. But it says volumes when (soon to be) former teammates remain silent as per his situation. Baker was a good QB who was PART of a mini-renaissance in Cleveland. He wasn't the only reason, even if Bakerphiles insist it was so. The 1-31 advanced an overhaul for the club, of which Baker was a part. But put Brady on those clubs and you're looking at a title, or very close to it. Baker was and is drama, which he has to own his damn self. He ain't Aaron Rodgers level, so teams are dubious. As for Watson, he had absolutely no intention of ever signing in Cleveland until Haslem broke the internet with that inane contract. That's the only reason he signed in Cleveland, even with all the talent that (Surprise!) Baker was actually surrounded with.
Baker just gave his career some new life, with that 10 seconds remaining go-ahead TD, 48 hours after landing in LA. Might be something, tis Baker as a Ram thing!

Good video, only inaccuracy was bob stoops never said at the beginning of the 2016 season that it was going to be his last season to the public, we didn't find out til June 2017 he was retiring
I see a nice connection with Okla coach and now current USC coach Lincoln Riley... Riley took Mayfield under his wing and counseled him with guidance. Mayfield went on a Heisman candidacy for 3 years and winning the Heisman his final Senior year. Lincoln Riley in Los Angeles and his former pupil now in Los Angeles.. I like this. Hopefully they will see each other often.
This guy deserves another shot to be a starter , he’s better than a bunch of dudes who are starting right now , if not for his injury I feel like that season looks a lot different, they’re probably back in the playoffs and his stat line would be looking way better.
Lincoln was already Baker's QB coach and Stoops retirement happened at the beginning of his senior year, he announced his retirement June 7th 2017 handing off to LR.
I always felt like Mayfield was the pinnacle of a “competent QB”. He’s no Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, or Peyton Manning, but he’s a guy who will be consistent enough for you to build a team around and maybe get a few wins.
I've been listening to Colin Cowherd on the radio. And he speaks about Baker Mayfield as if he was one of the worst QB's in the NFL. I always looked at him as a better version of Johnny Manziel. Johnny Manziel conned the NFL and especially the Cleveland Browns. But although I'm not a Browns fan, I always felt that Baker Mayfield was one of the fewest QB's in Browns history that took ownership of making the Browns a better franchise. I could be wrong, but he apparently made a lot of Browns fans believe in their beloved team again. I hope he gets an opportunity to play again. I still believe he's good enough to play QB in the NFL
@@bennyb44875 You can arguably say more about Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota and a few recent Jets QB's that I can't name and glad I don't know their names because that's how bad that franchise has been. No way is Baker Mayfield possibly worse than Jameis Winston right now. The guy continues to underperform, and he still gets awarded because of his size and potential. Sorry, IMHO, Winston is the worst QB1 in the NFL. He should easily be one of the best - morning glory QB.
@@toddsands6000 I'm a Browns fan. And Baker came in and acted like he was some type of messiah. There are stories that were coming out of the locker room (I have a great friend that works for the Browns) that Baker defiantly would call audibles out of the run dozens and dozens of times. One of the reason Hunt's dad called Baker out. Main reason the defense started to become divided from Baker. His camp leaked that Baker was demanding a trade to Mary Kay, then Baker denied it and called out Mary Kay. He is a spoiled punk that will be out of football because unlike Jameis...Baer is small, doesn't understand defensive coverages and cant get the ball past the line of scrimmage. However...Jameis isnt that special either.. lol

Baker is Cleveland. Not just cuz he played here . His underdog story and everything he is... I wanted Allen But I love Baker.. I will be a fan of the team he goes to.
A lot was covered but the key is missing- why did the Browns say they needed an adult in the room? He had injuries which led to a bad 2021 season, most teams would have continued with hims as qb in this situation- if not for that, which seems to be the key issue.
Stoops never said he was retiring before the 2016 season started. He told them in the summer of 2017 and said Lincoln Riley will replace him. Bob's choice. At the time it seemed like a good fit. Until the 2021 season happened.
There was always a problem with Riley, we saw it first with Iowa State that season, we went up 14-0 at the very start, and then Lincoln went into his game managing mode and we lost because of it, then against Georgia in the playoffs, and then every year had a game where he built a big lead and tried make it to the next week without having to give a full game of effort

@@JustFootball You're welcome. Keep plugging away at this. There's tons of competition on RUclips. Don't get discouraged, take criticism graciously, don't let jerks get to you. Above all, remember,it takes time to accomplish your goals.
Let me start off saying that I was living in NYC but was Cleveland fan back in the days of Jim Brown and wore his number in Pee Wee Football... later Leroy Kelly, Fare Hooker, Bernie Kosar and Milt Morin. Baker was a naturally gifted athlete that didn't want to work, which is why he didn't get a lot of attention going into college. Oklahoma was not the place to develop a great QB with Baker's mindset. Yes, the coached built a system around his natural ability but he was inconsistent ... he was inconsistent in part because he didn't do the work ... but more so because he didn't believe in the "system" ... he was above it. His off the field behavior didn't exactly endear him to the public ... and , I expect, his teammates. With the Browns, it was still about about Baker ... but it always seemed as he wanted to win more than he wanted the team to win. When Odell came in ya just knew it was over.... the stadium wasn't big enough to hold both their egos.
Progressive should make a commercial where Mayfield was sleeping on a bed insider the arena and Watson coming in a asking him to leave his room and Watson sleeping on the bed, with Mayfield rolling a mat on the side of a corridor.
Just came from the Bengals timeline video. Was shocked to see that you only have 1.8k subscribers. The quality is there, keep grinding out videos and you will be able to make this your career if you so choose. Just subscribed myself.
I've seen enough of Mayfield to know he's one hell of a competitor, a tough kid, but he is not a guy who can fully carry an NFL team on his back. He is only as good as the sum of the team's parts, and if he has a decent supporting cast, he can be very good. When he has to constantly do more than he is capable of, then he gets in trouble. I do think the sports media has taken some unwarranted shots at Mayfield, but he's not done himself many favors. Add to it: the Haslams have Jerry Jones Disease: they want a Super Bowl win before they die, and have thrown all their chips down on Watson, who may not even play the first part of the season. I think Mayfield is the insurance policy in this case; but he could still be worth something on the market. The right team that can support Mayfield, and keep him from taking chances with the ball, then that would work. But what team will that be? I don't see one this season.
Baker Mayfield is no different than Jim Plunkett and Archie Manning. All of them were/are talented QBs who never accomplished anything until they had a decent team around them.
I don't think he is a competitor or tough. He may be physically tough and competitive at times, but he lacks mental toughness and a real competitor wouldn't always be looking for excuses and a scapegoat for his poor play.
Stefanski tried to put Baker in an offense where he'll take less chances, problem is Baker doesn't play like his size and athletic ability and doesn't have the right mindset. He went out and got hurt (it doesn't help he tries to run when he isn't a mobile QB and takes a lot of unnecessary hits in and out of the pocket) and he blames the play calling which tries to get him to take care of the football. We don't know if Baker wants to be a gunslinger or game manager because his play is so inconsistent and he doesn't trust the people around him.
I'm not a big fan of Baker, but It might be a little premature to do a Rise and Fall on him yet. I mean he's making 19 million this year. With how many starting QB's go down or underperformed early in the season. I'm pretty sure he'll be picked up. So he wil get another chance to prove himself this year for another team. Although it probably won't last is long if he underperformed this year. I'm not kocking your video. It's actually well done. I'm just saying it might be a little premature since he hasn't fallen that far at all...yet.
@@VictorGarcia-uu1hl Yeah...stick a fork in him. He's done. He won't even be in the league next year. He's regressed from even being able to be a serviceable back up.

I am not really that in to foozball but if it's on I will watch it. Over the last decade I only watched a few QB's that I was impressed with. 1) Willson, He showed up on a team that had a ton more talent on the D side but still did very well. 2) Derek Carr, Showed up on a team that was well on its way to being a contender and hung in to every game. 3) Top of my list is Mayfield. I watch the game where he played for the first time and was in awe at how he hustled and took control of an offence that seemed to be totally lost, or at least out of step. He stayed with it and always seem to do the best he could and was surprised they were not in the Superbowl this last season. He seams like he might be hard headed and has made some mistakes but I think any team that could get him would be payed back in full.
Baker just wasn’t good. He was just good at promoting himself, an average player with a lot of heart. Heart doesn’t make you good, talent does. Any average QB could have been inserted into OU’s team taking on garbage big 12 defenses and do good.
Great job on the video. You should be a history teacher! Baker is an absolute warrior. Injuries suck and can derail anyone. If he gets truly healthy, any team would be lucky to get a leader like him.
I think the kids proven he can ball with the rest of em just as good as the rest of em. It just depends on his mental state and dedication to the game. He's the most successful browns QB in 30+ years. And that's on the BROWNS. where good players go to die. He's a ball of talent and with the right coaching staff, he could be something special. Or with the wrong staff he could fade to memory. We will see. I hope the Giants or the Panthers go after him. He could shine in those houses
@@dexterroberts631 As much as we talked about how bad baker is we can all agree that he is when healthy or unhealthy would be better then a health Daniel Jones
LMAO, what are you even talking about? The Browns had a top 5 roster last year. Their only problem was Mayfield. He's an average QB who will only continue to have more and more health issues as the years go on. He's not going to "shine" on any team.
@@TheSonicVoid Top 5 roster my ass. Trash receiving core, great o line, great running back, one good pash rusher, decent linebackers and decent secondary is not a top 5 team. The ravens, bengals, rams, packers, bucs, bills, chiefs, colts, titans, cows, saints, cards, 49ers and hawks all had better rosters.
I really enjoyed Baker with the Browns. He was a hard worker, a team leader, and a good player. But his whole game is based on emotion and the chip on his shoulder. Ironically, that's what cost him. That's messed up, but everyone knows the NFL is cutthroat. They don't care about your feelings. 😢
Baker's career is far from over. I think he's going to make the most out of the opportunity his next team gives him and he's going to play with a massive chip on his shoulder and play very well.
When did he play very well? You mean when he torched an nfl record worst bengals defense twice, and beat listless jets/falcons/panthers in 2018? He's never done a single thing of note as far as individual accomplishment
Baker has been the best QB at the Browns since Kozar.......QB's go to Cleveland to die! When the title says "Fall" it gives the impression he burned out like Manziel.......Plenty of football left in Mayfield I believe and as a starter. At this point he looks a little better than the early Drew Brees.......people slept on Drew Brees for a bit too!
@@alphasports3743 nobody is saying Mayfield did it all on his own but y'all act like you didn't spend 20 years being a bottom dweller with what 2 dozen starting qbs? How many of those teams also had good players but still failed time and time again
@@UnholyWrath3277 Did you ever think that he was successful because management changed? Did you ever think that if another HEALTHY QB had played this past season they would have made the playoffs. This new management is looking out for the team and not catering to one person. Did you know that Baker didn't start in his rookie season because he couldn't comprehend Todd Haley's offense? Baker knew and he blamed it on Jackson. It was Jackson who asked Haley to use the OU offense to help Baker but Baker mouth did so much damage along with Haley's refusal to do as Jackson said Jackson decided to do it himself. I guess he said if they were going to fire me fire me on my terms. So Jackson and Haley was fire. Kitchens ran the offense close to what Baker did at OU for the remainder of the season. You would think he would stay with the foundation but they signed OBJ and now it would mean more passing. Kitchens coached at LSU and he has seen Landry and OBJ in action and LSU use a run heavy offense and both WRs put up 1000 yds with a QB who could throw but couldn't move to save his life. However Kitchens went away from the run heavy offense where Chubb carried 20 or more carries they won. After Kitchen was fired the management had to go too and they hired a front office who knew how to use their personnel and they went 11-5. So back to my question since Baker was injured; Did you ever think that if another HEALTHY QB had played this past season they would have made the playoffs? Case Keenum is known to be a viable backup when he has a running game. He was never given a chance because of Baker. You might blame it on the coaches ... I suspect if they had sat Baker more drama would have happened. So now we are here and they will not let Baker control this situation because he's no longer the starting QB. If he was quiet it might help his but he keeps showing his a@@ every time he opens his mouth.
When Brees was traded to start over in a new city, the league in general was much more forgiving to young QBs. Now-a-days if you bomb as a rookie you may never even get a second season, let alone a second contract to begin anew somewhere else. I mean shit… with Peyton Manning’s rookie season, he wouldn’t have ever made it to his second season in 2022.
Baker should sit out 2022- collect his 18MIL, then come back in 2023. I'm not all in on Baker but his mistake was trying to play through his injuries- hurt his stock big time. If he can get past being a 1 read QB and actually SEE the field- he'll be a very serviceable QB for a team like the Jets, Carolina, Detroit... even Seattle and possibly Pittsburgh.
That's not his mistake...that's the mistake of the Browns organization. He did his job and grinded without complaining. That's a huge bonus for A LOT of teams, not a negative. 100% he'll just bide his time. Rumor is several teams wanted him but the Browns wanted a 2nd round pick. If he had a long contract then a team would bite...but the Browns are letting him go end of year anyway. So to waste a really good pick for 1 year is madness.

The fall... is a bit early to call. But I do think he will make a better coach. He undoubtedly has the right energy and the right people seem to elevate around him
In my opinion he still got time to revive his career, he just got bad luck that he was fucked due to his injury last year, but when he is healthy he is a top 15 quarterback, a team like Panthers should take a low risk trade, if he doesn’t work they could still draft high next year
I mean it really just comes down to one stat : interceptions. He throws them, the throws them more than he throws touchdowns . You just can’t succeed with the amount of picks he throws
With all the head coaching changes he had to deal with in his first 5 years, plus the injury in the last year. Now instead of being able to play football with his new team and learn the playbook, how late into the season will he get that chance, so that's another thing that could hinder him from having success this year...

And today in his Rams debut he crushed the Raiders with a couple minute long 14 point comeback late in the 4th. Say what you want about the guy but cheers Baker, rooting for you, on the rise again

Baker is my hero.. I believe in him and that he will be successful in a huge way if given the chance.. no matter where he ends up I am his fan forever💙🌹💙

@@duanehole3390 you are absolutely right.. my hope is Baker finds a team that appreciates him then leads them to Super Bowl!💙👍💙
Dude thanks for saving me from all the typing.
Baker just gave his career some new life, with that 10 seconds remaining go-ahead TD, 48 hours after landing in LA.
Might be something, tis Baker as a Ram thing!
The Browns did him dirty, I mean the guys had 4 head coaches and 11teen OC...I wish him luck, thanks Baker for helping us get to the Playoffs 💯
His last two seasons he had the same HC and OC so that isn’t an excuse.
@@janconner2087 He got dropped into a team that needed a QB and had a wounded RB and a WR core that was under par...an OFL that was the reason they needed him...if ya don't like him that's ok to say, but he can get it done in the right situation 💯

Have always loved this guy! Followed his college career and was glad when he won the Heismann and was super excited when he came to Cleveland! Baker Mayfield did a great job for Cleveland.. as a Browns fan I feel bad how he was treated.. even though he was seriously injured he played on and on..he is full of courage, skill and perseverance.. he did not quit.. ever.. believe Cleveland is making a serious mistake.. much like Detroit did with their quarterback cutting him loose after 12 years.. so what did he do? Led his new team to the Super Bowl! Hoping Baker will do the same! He has the skill charisma and courage to accomplish this.. wherever he goes the hearts of his fans go with him and wish him well always.. by the way this is a great video.. very entertaining and informative.. he has a great voice and the editing is excellent.. thank you for doing this!💙🙏💙

This guy deserves another shot to be a starter , he’s better than a bunch of dudes who are starting right now , if not for his injury I feel like that season looks a lot different, they’re probably back in the playoffs and his stat line would be looking way better.
the team he was on was stacked and he couldn't make it happen
ND he would of still got traded desean way better
You need to change the title to "The Rise and Fall and Rise Again of Baker Mayfield".
And now he made an amazing comeback
He literally is the worst QB1 in the league
However...Jameis isnt that special either.. lol
@@bennyb44875 Since you're a loyal Browns fan, you make a very strong case and know the details of stuff about the Cleveland Browns much more than I do. The Browns giving up on Mayfield and signing Watson to a completely insane contract is why the Browns are the Browns.

Rams debut went pretty well
Baker is Cleveland. Not just cuz he played here . His underdog story and everything he is... I wanted Allen But I love Baker.. I will be a fan of the team he goes to.
Me too!!!💙🤗💙
A lot was covered but the key is missing- why did the Browns say they needed an adult in the room?

@@davidlafleche1142 Plunkett and Manning were actually coachable.
He is done
I have a feeling the rest of his career may well be a backup role going forward. Unless he has a crazy comeback moment somewhere

Absolutely agree with you.. let’s hope Baker gets on a team that will utilize his potential and appreciate him💙✨💙
Baker just wasn’t good.

As a Giants fan, no thanks
@@dexterroberts631 As much as we talked about how bad baker is we can all agree that he is when healthy or unhealthy would be better then a health Daniel Jones
@@Just1nmusic not so. Give Jones the team that Baker had, jones would have taken them further.
Correct it’s far from over, but I do not think he will reach the heights of his early browns days every again
When did he play very well? You mean when he torched an nfl record worst bengals defense twice, and beat listless jets/falcons/panthers in 2018? He's never done a single thing of note as far as individual accomplishment
NFL Europe is back he should go there a few years and humble himself.
The Browns go to the playoffs and its because of Baker? SMDH
Congratulations to just football for reaching 1000 subscribers

And today in his Rams debut he crushed the Raiders with a couple minute long 14 point comeback late in the 4th. Say what you want about the guy but cheers Baker, rooting for you, on the rise again
Browns have had 31 starting QB’s since 1999.. almost 1.5 QB’s a year. 😂
😅 it's actually 0.77. so that means no quarterbacks on average finished full season
It's funny. The clips of Baker playing are half rushing (can't rush like that in the pros with how slow he is), and at least a quarter of his throws off and being caught by his receivers. It tells you everything you need to know. He's fooled everyone with his Rudy schtick. But now he's with the big boys and can't hang without an all star supporting cast.
Baker is pretty good, and still has more potential. If he can keep that chip on his shoulder in check and swallow his pride a little bit, I think he can find a good spot and beat whoever is ahead of him.
