Never forget the first time I saw Benny Hill. Had a very bad day at school one day in 1980. That night, Benny Hill came on and I laughed and laughed. Healed some wounds. Miss the late, great Benny Hill!

Yeah, hollywood has been getting duller and darker for a long time. Good thing there are thousands of old tv shows that are funny, so I should be good for the next few decades on bingeing.
Benny was the "baseline" for all comedy around that era! The two Ronnies "stole" his ideas, and made them into their own he was THAT good! Don't get me wrong, I loved the two Ronnies, but half their material came from Benny Hill! ITV/Thames Television made millions from Benny's show, and then ditched him in a flash..... which lead to Benny's depression and, eventually his death in my opinion! I was born in 1984 myself, and aged 38 now, I appreciate Benny hill over many other comedians. Also loved Freddie Starr, another naturally born entertainer and unique in his act! RIP Benny & Freddie!
I really enjoy Benny Hill when I was young the way that they would speed up the music and their movements that was the funniest thing no one can ever come close to Benny Hill miss you very much
Film critics with an eye toward history always seem to say that the silent comedy era of the 1910s and 1920s produced three legitimate geniuses: in no particular order, Chaplin, Keaton, Lloyd. I believe if Benny Hill had been born 30 years earlier, there would have been an acknowledged fourth one. His no-dialogue sketches are clearly informed by the best of silent comedy, and they are screamingly funny. (Of course he wouldn't have had the leeway in the 1920s to be as raunchy as he was but so what?) His sketches with dialogue are great but I will argue that Benny is at his best when doing his own brand of "silent comedy."
Actually, he would have by the twenties, as that was Pre-Code Hollywood, which generally was starting to have a very liberal bent, including sexual situations and even occasional breast flashing.
The Benny Hill Show still makes me laugh out loud. It's not just a bunch of ladies running around in their underwear. I have subscribed to The Benny Hill Fan Consortium.
Benny's show harkens back to the good old days of vaudeville. It's not possible to say how many laughs be brought to me and my parents. (And it's because of this show that I know what the River Thames is.) ❤️

@@DavidTaylor-yl3yw I can, and do, without your permission, just like I did at the old SNL sketch with Celebrity Jeopardy when the Sean Connery character said "I'll take The Rapist for $200" when it was "Therapist." That ground around 1:55 was where the 'Word of Sport' segment of the ladies' ball tournament (with Benny as Mrs. Cartwright picking up a bomb that exploded her face) was filmed.

Why does Benny Hill NEVER get old?
Humor was alive and well back then. Now it has 8 different cancers and cataracts.
I miss the good old days with real humour, when you could scream slurs and never be disagreed with. :(((
"MR. E.Y. TOAD, THE RAPIST"
One of my all-time favorite Benny gags.
There was actually a website called Findtherapist.com - it closed down.
Makes one wonder if that was his opinion of the psychotherapy profession.
Also, he repeated that gag in "The Loser" sketch of Jan. 7, 1981. Only the therapist who was so skewered was a Mr. Drunge.
I used to love these re runs as a kid in the 80s. they'd always come on tv late night.
You just know they must have had a blast making those fast motion chase scenes at the end!
I loved watching Benny Hill in my childhood in the 70's & 80's. The chase closings alone were well worth it.

As an American, I must say, what a wonderful British export. Love this show.
The Americans knew exactly what the Britons had. Took the Brits a long time to understand it.
You cannot get better than this God bless you and laughs and fun you brought into our homes💖💖
