In 1988, my first year at university, I had a political science professor who brought Shirley Chisholm to give a guest lecture -- I was (suppose I still am) a country club Republican and asked her a few pointed questions -- Ms. Chisholm was witty, gracious, direct, thoughtful, kind -- she's an important part of the American story and I"m delighted she's getting a biopic.
OMG. What am important subject in American history to have these three gems do together. Regina is superb, and having Terrence back on the scene again is a real treat. I’ve also never been disappointed by a Reddick performance. God rest his soul.
They will not give a black woman an Oscar unless she played a slave or a maid and than she will only get best supporting Oscar. There have not been one black woman that won an Oscar for best Actress.
I can't wait for this movie! I met Rep. Chisholm in undergrad, at Washington National Airport, of all places. She was so gracious. Regina King is such a brilliant actress. She looks like she has embodied Chisholm' s essence. She could be nominated for all the acting awards again next year. God bless her for how she kept keeping on.

@themagicians1122 Why do you have to compare her to the Vice President? Why do you try to lift one person by denigrating another? People like that are dangerous. They are from two different eras, two different paths, two different geographical places. Each woman can stand on her own accomplishments without having to compare them. They are both series. No need to have a philosophical battle about it. What would it solve?Smh
Oh that's right. He passed away in 2023. Shirley started filming at the end of 2021. Reddick has one more posthumous film release this summer. It's a John Wick spin-off titled Ballerina. I tapped out of those movies by the second installment. I am definitely going to watch Shirley.

Powerful statement bc girls today do not have any heroines to look up to. They think influencers, reality stars, and celebrities are people to emulate. It's so sad.
I'm thankful for this movie about Shirley Chisolm. I was a little black girl when she was running for President, and though I didn't know about politics to really know what was going on, I did see her as a powerful black woman, and knew she was out there. This movie filled in so many blanks about this great woman for me. Truly loved her hospital visit with George Wallace. That I needed to see. She indeed paved the way for many others to follow behind her. And I think she would have made a GREAT President.❤ Great movie❤
Regina King - we all actually watched her grow up on screen, from "227" until now. I'm seriously "WOWED" by this. She is simply brilliant. Looking forward to seeing "Shirley".
@@clarkclarke I’m old enough 😊 to remember her when she first was elected…it was wonderful to see her rise. Glad there’s many videos and media available. Thanks for letting us know.
I think my kid (Gen Z) has learned more about her than I (Gen X) did, which is great! Several good picture books about her out there, and her picture is one that I've seen up on a walls of a few classrooms. So, a bit good news!
It good to see regina back in action it good to see her face again so sad about her son loss but we definitely miss her it good to.see her back to work
My aunt was a friend of hers and I met her when I was 8 years old. I remember leaving her house and my aunt said to me, "You just met someone who made history! Never forget meeting her!" To my dear aunt who's no longer with us, I haven't forgotten.
I’m definitely watching this movie. I heard of Mrs. Shirley some years ago and I was always interested in her. I knew she was smart and strong and she was just never given the recognition she deserved. I am so happy to see her story brought to life ❤
I know very little about Shirley Chisholm so I’m excited to see the movie. Regina King is definitely a force and she’s not even trying which makes her so great.
No it’s not force. Regina King come from time where you suppose to sound like the person so hearing living taping & self recording. Regina King did 5 movies plus doing this listening how Ms.Shirley talk, walk & move so it’s not force she trying to do her manners.
I am so happy a movie came out telling a historical event where a Black woman paved the way for other African Americans. Shirley Chisholm made her mark in America!!

There is a beautiful state park here in Brooklyn named after Shirley Chisholm. I remember watching her on tv with my grandmother when I was a kid. She was strong, fabulous, and fierce !
