- My name is Chrome i have been living in y cargo van for 6 years now. I started this lifestyle BROKE and IN DEBT and after 11 months of living the van life i cleared my debt and started to put my life back together and build for a better future. I have turned my original van into a badass camper van that is lifted with all the toys. Over the years i went from being broke and stealth camping in the city and sleeping at walmarts... to now, living fulltime in a jacked up van and driving deep off-grid into the backcountry and living life in the dirt. WOW LIFE HAS CHANGED.
I now have a shop space to keep me busy through the winters here on Canada's westcoast. Went from Van Life to VAN LIFE + SHOP LIFE !!!!!! Come join this crazy van life journey of mine. HIT SUBSCRIBE, trust me its gonna be a WILD RIDE.

You and other Canadian vanlifers have opened the beauty of Canada to those of us who have never been ther. Thank you. It truly is beautiful.
I refer it as being an “armchair vanlifer.”
The Great White North it is!
I want to go up there so bad with my van but I don't think Canada will let me in.
Unless you're a drug/arms dealer you got no problems 😄
@@johnsparkman2007 Really?!? I had a couple DUI's in my younger days (that's it) and I've heard/read they are hardasses about it.
Always end with Cruzie! It's the best way to sign out. It was SO cute seeing him bliss out in the sunshine, floating in the kayak.
@@teresahoffman5041 I agree. Such a nice ending to see Cruze chilling.🇨🇦
Ha, it might have hurt the power production but wow oh wow your time spent in these small towns has upped your viewership production...been lovin it! Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful trip.
yep I think Cruzie is loving the kayaking vibe for sure
Great footage on the water, wow that was nice ... Cruizy loved sitting up front, that was perfect ...
3:50 Bro, nothing about the skeleton in the driver’s seat? 😆
Dude tap into the gas tank and exhaust the generator out of the box! UNLIMITED GENERATOR HOURS! And you don't have to worry about it growing legs.
measuring for it
@@jesseschmitt3332 I believe honda makes a special gas cap for this scenario.
I carry a Honda 2000 gen for the last twenty years. Never a problem. The 1000 is one of the most reliable Gen on the market. The resale value stays close to the purchase price . Go for it you won’t be disappointed! You never know what will happen to that complicated system you have in the van. This generator can be a life saver. Install a draincock on your auxiliary fueltank and have your own filling station.
that view on the lake looked like a Bob Ross painting, Just beautiful!
I absolutely love this video of all the places you took us on including the views and my favorite was the boat ride with you and Cruzie this is so relaxing.
Beautiful countryside. You are blessed to see all that beauty in person. ❤❤
Yep I think the water and kyaking is Cruzies fun spot He's in his glory out there on the water So calming and quiet 💜💚💖💙🇨🇦🦩 Stay Happy 💫✨🌟✨
Cruzie in the kayak too cute!!!
Chrome you are a spokesperson for van life ,anyone watching you is saying, hey let’s get a van and hit the road! Sold my Econoline to my grandson and his first trip was to camp down by the river!
We just returned from an epic road trip to Alaska! We drove all the way from North Carolina to Oregon then to Alaska and back to NC, covering a whopping 11,000 miles (17,700 KM) and spending a whole 3 months on the road. My granddaughter joined us for the last month of our adventure, and she’s only 12 years old! We had an incredible time exploring the Yukon, and we lived in Alaska for 47 years before making the move to NC to be closer to our grandkids (and escape the winter, haha!).
I was so pleased to see that kayak! Id love to paddleboard that lake
That lake was beautiful.😊😊😊
Man, Canada is beautiful
Loved seeing you guys on the kayak!!! Cruz looks adorable in his vest!❤❤❤
Portable Solar Panels will get the Jackery back up in short order.
I like using two set of portable solar pannels they work awesome
Better power management would help. Leaving the starlink on all the time is wasteful. You know your power needs, why wait until you’re down to 5% ? It’s like a self inflicted wound, but glad your out there having fun.
Yea!
There's always an option for a bigger alternator, or dual alternators like they use in vehicles with big sound systems.
so crazy- you and Matthew at VanLifePlus both posted videos this week about how your batteries died. He drove around Calgary for over an hour to charge up. I must say that YOUR view was much more beautiful :)
I got the Honda 2300 and never will regret it. It's whisper quiet and will not piss off your neighbors. Light weight, Starts first pull and sips gas.
Just when I think I had a favorite video you bring out the Kayak! You and Cruzie were in such a beautiful peaceful place and yes it was epic 😎 ✌️✌️Smooches for Cruzie 💋 🐾 🦴
The sound of the water as you paddle around the lake. Wow.
Love the sounds, too❤️ just chillaxin
Beautiful scenery❤ the suspension bridge gave me a little vertigo moment😮 too cool
Beautiful scenery.
Gorgeous it is, best of all the ability to go kayaking right outside your door 😍
That suspension bridge is epic, the view is gorgeous. I love the one Capilano bridge in Vancouver, but it is so commercialized. This one is perfect. I need to get myself up there. . . SOON!, thank you for giving me motivation.
LAKE LOOKED AWESOME N CRUZZIE LOVE IT TOO!!! 😍😍😍
You take us to most awesome places thsnks for sharing see ya Chrome an Cruz hugs always ❤❤
Wow absolutely breathtakingly beautiful spot!!great video chrome n cruzey pops 👊👍👌
Omg Cruzie is so awesome he loved the water❤
I don’t know how many times I’ve been down that road to Skagway. I had no clue there was a suspension bridge. Learn something new every day
OMG the view is just breathtaking I am speechless Thank you for sharing your experience with the best views!
Beautiful Country!!
It's always nice to getaway with you & Cruzie for the day!
Thanks for sharing!!
Blessings 💕
Luv the view of you and Cruz on the lake.
That was super cool watching Cruz in a kayak.
Seeing a vid come out just makes my day 😊
Glad life is holding you back enough to take time and smell the roses. ❤
Thank you for sharing Canadas beauty OMG this has to be one on my Bucket List ❤, also you two were so adorable floating on the lake ❤
Happy Birthday Amanda. Tell Chrome I use a 1000 watt Sportsman generator for his exact scenarios. Only use it a handful of times a year but sure comes in handy. Have had it for three years and has worked flawlessly. Also about a third of the price of a Honda. Depending on how big his house charger is he needs to make sure 1000 watts is enough. Again Happy Birthday Amanda and you rock!!!
Haha thanks Dan!!✌️
Cool place to camp. I love love love the beach.
Hey Chrome , went to the Yukon and Alaska earlier this summer . Drove thru white pass where you are now ,insanely beautiful . Also stayed at Kathleen lake . So beautiful,I couldn’t believe my eyes . Already planning another trip . Enjoy .
I have a suggestion If you get a generator and you wanna go with 1 a little bit bigger you could always mount it to the top of a box And get a cover for it Just a thought
Look at the Bouge RV flexible solar panels. I have two of them. Virtually indestructible, lightweight, and you stick them (tape is on the back) to the top of your cargo pod, therefore you don't need any more space.
HOBOTECH did a thorough review of them, even shooting them multiple times, and they still worked.
Thanks for the info 👍 😊
$600.00USD for a panel, they are proud of them
@@bobtailedtrucker2521 😮
So glad you continued south on the Klondike HGWY. It truly is one of the best drives. When you go back to Whitehorse check out Miles Canyon. Stay safe and have fun.
I've got the Honda generator in my box. Keep the gas in a rotopax mounted where your table is. Need to find a charger that puts out high amps to charge the batteries as fast as possible.
Yes! Take the ambo build to Alaska.
I did not know you have the boat and the life preservers how super cool😊
A small generator would be a great backup for when you can't maintain your batteries from solar and is a more economical option then driving your van everywhere. You could run it during the day time to boost your batteries to max and then shut it down for the night. If you have the room to store it, it would be a great option for you. A lot of those small generators run fairly quiet as well. I am enjoying this seasons adventures from you. It almost makes me want to travel to those places as well. With my rig I only get about 7 mpg and would cost a small fortune to get out to where you are right now. So, I guess that I'll have to stick to northern Michigan and the upper peninsula for my outdoor scenery. Love your videos!
People in Australia hinge panels to the side of their vans and pop it up when parked. I going to do it on my coaster, but decided to sell it. Honda is the way to go as they're the quietest, my 2kva has an eco switch on it which cuts down on fuel consumption and also makes it quieter
Are you giving us words of wisdom in your underpants?!?!?! ...excellent
Hi Chrome this is the perfect time to have a small quiet inverter generator like my 2500 watt. Very easy on gas and hardly makes any noise. With it you CAN stay put in a beautiful lakeside camping spot and still charge up your system in times when the solar gain does not quite do the job. I realize that part of your problem is the level of power that you require as a heavy content provider. There are times when using a "genny" and being able to remain stationary is the desirable plan. Great scenery and Cruze seemed to enjoy the kayak more this time. Have a nice day. Tom in the Maritimes at the NB-NS border
I enjoyed this video. Beautiful area. Thank you
I find that most lakes you have shown are way nicer than all the ones I have been to in USA so far.
You carrying Cruzie like a suitcase 🤣
Chrome I live in Ontario and just visited Kelowna BC for the first time ever and all I wanted was to see a bear. I never did see one so I will have to live my wish by watching your videos 😂
Have you thought about converting the Starlink to 12 volt? There are kits available to convert/replace the existing stuff. This will reduce the overall power use. No inverter needed.
y-e-a .....so I'm on holiday in the van watching you on my laptop on holiday in your van, and i'm thinking Damn ! your holiday looks better than mine. lol Some of the camp sites you are visiting are just stunning!! I'm on holiday with my dog too but he's only 8 weeks old so could a while before we go kayaking together. lol
The kayak seen was cool !!!!
Mr chrome , you have the left paddle upside down in the one shot.
Adding more batteries isn’t going to fix your issue of not being to charge them. What you need is to manage your loads or adding a better DC to DC charging.
I highly recommend looking at a ecoflow generator because your issue is going to be transferring power from the generator to the batteries.
Because the issue will be Honda generator is AC and then converting that back to DC
Great once again!!! One Adventure at a Time is in the process of showing Alaska this Summer up to Oct. If I were you ...id adventure more into the Yukon. Most everyone is adventuring n filming Alaska....but not the Yukon. So next Summer I'd like to see more of the Yukon please.
Skagway itself is a bit of a tourist trap since it's a cruise ship port. The White Pass scenic rail to Whitehorse is scenic but pricey for sure. The best way to see that part of the World is how you're doing it, over landing in an RV/Van.
A generator would be a great idea it could also allow you to help others if needed too
Consider a propane powered generator. Cleaner burning. Runs longer off of a 20 lb tank. Propane can be used by other appliances. Propane never goes bad. Gasoline does require stabilization for storage. Hondas can be converted to run on propane.
That's what I came hete to suggest. If you never run gasoline in the generator, you never have the issue of gas fouling the engine. Very clean.
@shurd9798 if you use propane and not gas for these generators do you still have to put oil in generator? Just wondering.
@judyhanning5690 yes, you still need oil to lubricate the internal rotating mass. It works the same as a gasoline engine.
I do love your Vid's. Been watching for years.
We take a Harbour Freight 3500 generator when we go out in the summer with the 6 dogs. Having ac running while camping in the south eastern part of US is a must given heat and humidity .. i have a portable AC unit that I pack in for those weekend trips and can run the generator all weekend on roughly 15 gallons (56 L) of fuel and it not only runs my ac but also puts 560watts into the Bluetti if it is needed.
Only 8 freakings and 8 epics…getting better!
Not nearly enough "Let's go!"s though!
Enjoy Haines Junction & Kluane Natl Park. Epic mtns! I spent 32 in SE AK Took the ferry many times to Prince Ruoert & Bellingham. PR is no longer an option. Bellingam, WA to Skagway (or Haines) takes approx 3.5 days. Highly recommend traveling one way via ferry. Relax while viewing beautiful scenery!
UPGRADE your alternator to a PowerMaster 200 Amp. Bypass your Victron DC-DC charger and wire directly with a beefy solenoid(with time delay for engine warm up). You’ll get 130 amps at idle too. This will max out (safely) the alternator and maximize charge speed, which should be within spec of the batteries. This is how our Pleasure Way Sprinter RV was wired from the factory. The batteries charge fast on short drives.
Try converting your Startink to run direct from DC power, bypassing the inverter will be more efficient use of your SOK battery.
Another epic video !! 👍😎
Consider a propane conversion for the Honda. You will not have to work about the excess gas going bad from lack of use.
The new solar panels output more power for the same size.
I really love Liard Hot Springs!!
I love that van it's my favorite one of all of em your and forest forest van he has a wood stove big seller for me.
We bought a generator it’s a duel fuel, I’ve heard running it on propane is better for the generator, it’s cleaner than gasoline. We’re not on the road, we bought it to recharge our Bluetti’s during a power outage.
Only thing i can say is slowing down and taking in the blessings around building memories. Is epic
What a beautiful location ❤
Loved the scenery and kayak. Hope you figure out the power issue.
New to your channel but liking what I’m seeing! I love you get out of video every day. Keep up the great content.
That is a nice camping spot on the water
Let's carivan to Alaska next spring. Let's go!
It was a great video bro loved it as I’m stuck on the bed still
LiFePO4 batteries can be charged at a very high rate. Depending on the battery specs and the specs of your charger, you may be able to charge 80amp/hour with a 1000watt generator.
Hi Chrome, I don't know much about them, but I believe they make a dual fuel generator which also can use propane .
The 1100 Honda generator you can expect maybe 8-9 amps of 120v power. Not sure the amp draw of your system. If you have a 40amp draw system you are needing a 4800w generator. Something also to think about. Hondas are nice generators.
Doul fuel generator? Thanks for sharing your travels. Amazing. Both of you.
I’m working on finding a van. Hopefully e series 350 etc…. Anyone in Nevada got one for sale?? Lol sorry 😂this isn’t the platform for that. And yes I love that we get to see beautiful Canada through chromes travels. Thanks Brother Chrime
Thankyou for your clean mouth. Much appreciated. Many sites are deleted due to profanity.
CHROME ‼️👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Another option for power conservation is to pick up a Starlink Mini. It draws less than half the power as the Gen 2 dishy you have and it runs on DC, so there's less power loss from the DC to AC to DC conversions. It also can be flat mounted on the roof and still gets great speeds. I'm getting about 120mb down and 15mb up even while driving.
Generator is a great idea though! I have a similar setup and I struggled with power a ton last spring. I might just pick up a generator to have a backup plan.
I love your videos! I used to live in Alaska, and Canada looks just like Alaska!! ❤
My generator sucks gas from the gas tank. Besides the limitless power, it runs my window A/C plus my microwave and coffee maker. The only downside is noise and that’s why I have a power box too.
Hey Chrome, what about those folding, free- standing solar panels that look like a portfolio case? You could be stationary, parked in the shade, with the panels out in the sun. You can angle them too. Btw, I love your inflatable kayak! I gotta get one of those.
Best choice krome a small honda super quiet generator for back up
Get a high output alternator and run a bigger power wire like a zero gauge wire from your alternator to your battery banks they will charge wayyyyy faster also it will keep you topped off more often
Here's a thought for your channel! Winter is Arizona and do some van tours!
That lake view 💙
Hi Chrome, we have the small Honda generator and the bigger one and it works everything in our rv when we go away. You cannot go wrong with them.
