    Jonathan, keep the Cornbinder and sall the Shaker. Power steering, and a big deal, a reman motor that looks like it hasn't got a lot of miles. Yep, she's the keeper, it would make the most sense. With a little TLC, and a good scrubbing, the Cornbinder aka International would be a good truck for you.

    Porter greetings! 🤩 Another cabover for ya! 🥰 I’ve never seen the frame setup like that on the back, except on a hydraulic lift unit. Someone had some good reason to put that on the truck! A good safety feature! Cool old truck though. An old cabover that still has style and character…Oh Yeah! 🤩 At least it’s all straight. Needs some new wheels and a major cleanup, but sounds good. Lowboy: You know that there’s more than one way to fix a trailer…roll it over. Lol. At least you could roll it on its side. Ok now…you have TWO cabovers…you are lucky!!! I bet you might have some interest in one of them. I like them both. Maybe I should make my way down and check this one out. 🧐

    The Fruitliner has the cool factor and maybe looks a tad better style-wise. But that 9670 lit right off (good pump) and power steering is good, especially in your business. If the clutch is decent (?), I'd prolly look to keep that one.
    Take the biggest air source you have an tornado out that cab, then look her over again.
    I'm a big fan of white or light gray bed-liner as a cabin top material. Keeps em a bit quieter and waterproofs the old tops.
    The outside is chipping and flaking, so maybe spray it in your livery and roll on :-)

    I drove a 9670 for a couple years and owned a 78 FL. I liked the IHC a lot better. Never touch the throttle on a diesel until the clutch is out all the way. If you are loosing air, find out why before you even try to move it. Major safety issue. Sounds like you have a blown brake pot. Very common. Have fun with the old girl. I still like those. FYI, those tires likely got rubbed on the underside of the trailer on uneven ground or something like that. Maybe some kind of real rough driving surface. If you are around big trucks enough, you will see a lot of that stuff..

    Jonathan, that tire may have been a " ban-dag or " band-aid" tire where they heat the gold tread and apply a new over it..i have seen them separate and it looked similar to that, as if they didn't heat and melt the old tread properly before adding a new tread.
    I'd forgotten how confined those cab overs were compared to a conventional ( long nose)
    Back when I drove long haul we referred to these as:
    International=cornbinder
    Cummins= come on you can make it .

    Detroit's= road oilers
    Passenger side= jump seat or shot gun

    Can't figure what happened to the tires. In a way it looks like someone was playing around and doing burnouts, or trying to anyway. I didn't see any rubber stuck to the fender however. Maybe if they WERE "pharting" around, there wasn't enough wheel speed to fling the rubber on to the fender.....I don't know. It's a mystery. Anyway, Jonathan said he wasn't going to use them so, no worries. I like that little hop he did. Like, "I did it, I did it. Hee hee"! Enjoyed this one too, Jonathan.

    Those tyres look like they have been used on 3 inch ballast logging roads.

    Amazing how those Cummins engines fire right up without a problem even after not being run for long periods of time.

    Excellent video Johnathan :) those International trucks last long time my dad had lots them also on Fire department he was with had them in 3 to 9 ton tanks with flat face ones and long noses ! I remember fire department had1980 flat nose cab with sin bunk plus 600 gallon tank single axle in Desiel motor 6 cylinder cab lock open on them so had make new lock mechanism with angle iron 2 inch × 2 inches and be weld on back cab triangle shape with heavy duty tow chain to frame bolt up when need took chains off frame ! But if need tilt had use floor jack with 4×4 24 inches blocks with circle metal caps on top also bottom one on left and right too get cab open up was quite interesting but worked if saw it and chuckle about! Cliff friend of family was fire department he was one thought that ideas!

    The internationals are well assembled rigs and parts are not bad for they still manufacture them in Canada. I will admit glass for that freightliner is flat glass and much cheaper to buy or install. I don't have much to say on three hundred cummins but inside them are all the same cubic inches of displacement. I am quite sure that there are a few who know how to turn them up and get more power out of them. I know I started driving on a cummins engine and it only had 165 horsepower... I liked that I could finally drive with the others and in those days most trucks didn't have so much power as it was in gears they got speed out of them. It just seemed to me to have more room to move around in the cab in the international truck. All in all, good times ahead in fixing one up and driving it till the wheels fall off

    I like that International. Both of them look like pretty good tractors. I agree with you on the way they look. I like the patina. You could spray a couple coats of clear on them. Just to maintain it.

    Cabovers are great for city deliveries where they can get into tighter docks than a conventional, but they're also deathtraps - they can't take a side impact.
    Because of the cab lock design, a side impact can break off the lock on the impact side of the cab, and allow the forward momentum of the impact to twist the cab enough that the other cab lock is pushed out of alignment. This allows the cab to be tipped forward, ejecting the driver.
    It happened to me in 1992. When I was hit, the seat belt broke and I went through the windshield. The fractured skull I received blinded me in the right eye and ended my career.
