The main reason bloodthorne is strong is because it eats regen to gain vamp and spikes and it gains damage from those two. In your first game you have two heart container which you turned into heart of darkness. You don't have regen which makes your bloodthorne very weak and not viable with your current items. You could have at least leave 1 heart container but tbh that might not be enough unless you have starting regen. As someone who always play bloodthorne in the demo that was so painful to watch XD
The locklifter not touching the 3 weapons was also quite painful. Also I'm not sure but magic torch is a good scaling weapon for midgame but quitr slow for endgame. If you plan on using magic torch on endgame you would need a sttong defense or strong weapons. All scaling builds need defense or anything to counter burst builds. These can be potions, armor, or cap. For weapons with magic torch you need either fast or low cost weapons. Some include falcon blade, claws, or probably dragon. If you use manathirst you can also use hungry blade together with a regen item and probably other mana increasing items to increase the lifesteal from the manathirst, although with the nerf on the mana orb i don't know if this is still viable since you'll have excess mana.

The main reason bloodthorne is strong is also that it gets +damage for each of those buffs, vs hungry blade just getting +max damage.
The locklifter not touching the 3 weapons is extremely painful!
I don't know if magic torch is slow scaling, but there definitely are better scalers. Pros and cons to everything. Magic Torch feels viable to me (viable defined as capable of going positive in rank).
Short bow qualifies as fast + low cost in my mind, claws would be good, falcon blade is great but expensive. Manathirst seems great for it.
I missed the mana orb nerf, you mean that it no longer makes spectral daggers, or something else? So many items in this game have changed so many times (short bows costing 0 stamina for example)

@@BackpackBattlesI mean in your first game you don't have any regen at all, so your bloodthorne deals very low damage.
Magic torch definitely scales quite slow, but since it also boosts 2 other weapons it's a good weapon.
Shortbows are good but I'm nor sure if it's viable at endgame. Claws are cheap but it's similar to the shortbow. The main reason why falcon blade is good with magic torch is because falcon blade hits twice so the bonus from the magic torch is doubled. Also falcon blade boosts the speed of the magic torch so it would scale faster. Manathirst is mostly used to provide mana to the magic torch. Unless you can trigger the steal life effect from the manathirst quickly I don't recommend it as well. (EDIT: 2 shortbows and a magic torch might actually be good until endgame. You probably need some bird and armor to survive)
The random buffs provided by the mana orb only triggers once per round. In this case unless you have other ways to consume mana or have tons of mana orb then you'll have a stockpile of mana which you do not use.

Good info! I need to remember that falcon blade hits twice, probably why I don't value it as much as I should.
I didn't realize mana orb used to be able to trigger multiple times. I can see why they nerfed it, that would go crazy with some mana builds.
Bow + Claw a nice thing is the size, easy to get them early and fit them into a build. If I get ranger badge it makes me more tempted to go for mana torch (I don't know if this is good, evaluating badges feels tricky to me).
Thinking about it now serpent staff + ranger crit sounds strong.
