- National Scholarship Holder in Kathak from Ministry of Culture, India ; Graduate from Arya College, Ludhiana, Punjab and Nritya Visharad in Kathak from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh. Presently pursuing Masters in Music Vocal from University of Mumbai. A disciple of Late Shri Sita Ram Ji of Jaipur Gharana from whom trained under traditional Guru Shishya Parampara for 6 years. He is researcher of around 20 Folk Dances of India and Performing Artist of Kathak (Jaipur Gharana). He has choreographed many performances in Indian Television Dance Reality shows like DID Super Moms, Jhalak Dikhla Ja-6&7, Boogi Woogi, India's Got Talent-5, DID-4 etc. He has recently performed in various shows for Living Legend Mr. A R Rehman with very talented performer Shakti Mohan. Apart from that Kumar Sharma is also a singer and he has sung title song of show "Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya" on Zing TV.

Kumar Sharma Dear Kumar, I normally don't leave any comments on videos, but to not leave a compliment for you, I think would be an insult to your talent. I have watched your video several times now & each time I have been mesmerized by your flawless execution of every bhaav & every mudra. You exemplify why dance is considered worship in our culture because frankly your talent is simply divine, you have been blessed by both Ma Saraswati & Shri Shankar. Do you have stage performances? When are you performing in Delhi next? Do you hold classes?
+Kumar Sharma I really liked your energy, the centring of your axis while doing the chakkars, you have a masculine style which is very refreshing. I wish you could add a bit more aggression in your closings of each tukda, a greater 'snap'. If you can manage more leaps then that might add to your overall male style.
The costume is very well thought out. It is a pity to see a lot of gifted male dancers with weird costumes, over involved jewellery, excessive make up etc. One recommendation I would make here is that you keep your hair shoulder length and simple, but without the 'beauty parlour' look. That would just make them 'girlish' and reduce from your stage presence. Just simply cut hair, not treated or straightened but natural and neat. They would add a lot of movement to your dancing.
It is great that you take care of your body and dont have a big belly, loose arms etc.
I think you will do very well as you go on.

I have only recently learned about Kathak dance but I have been listening to Indian music on & off for quite a few years, both classical, folkloric and popular, especially as I also enjoy Bhangra dance. I was glad to find your video and enjoyed your performance very much. Thank you for posting it. I loved your energy and beautiful hand postures. I learn a dance form (just in a regular evening class) so I know how much effort and discipline that goes into learning even the simplest of choreographies just on the basic level I dance at.
Cannot stop watching this video .....you the the first male ever who looked so dignified dancing in an Indian style ...every word of shantakaram was emoted to perfection .....you are a treat to watch my 7 year old girl said she wants to dance like you....

I am very delighted to see a young guy performing and keeping up the ancient, traditional dance form. I hope this heritage is never lost. Spread it further.
There are a hundred Kathak performances taking place around the globe every day. But the best performances are the ones where the artists fades away and Kathak takes over. This is one such performance. What a mesmerisingly beautiful conjunction of aggressive gymming and intense Kathak. This is an extraordinary guy with lots of intelligence, lots of art and lots of grit!! Three cheers to Kumar!!

I'm so crazy for Indian culture too bad there is so little campaining for it.
This is just a one of many classical dances. In east specially in india and china we have much to give to world but problem is that west is so dominating that no one cares about it. But we never worry just like we were practicing yoga for 5000 yrs but Today at last world came to us for yoga similarly we have our own theory on creation of universe to starting of life to Ayurveda, geometry, economics etc.

I have been learning for a little while with Guru Urmila Nagar of the Jaipur Gharana and was just looking for performances by other people of Jaipur Gharana when I came across your video.
This is really beautiful..you certainly have a style of your own and are building on it. I don't know if you're interested, but if you can learn from Urmilaji, you should try it out. She has a very delicate and yet powerful and very expressive style. She retired from the Kathak Kendra but still teaches at her home in Delhi.

I have seen many Kathak dances: live shows, movies & youtube videos but never seen such enchanting dance and that too, on youtube. For about 9 minutes, my eyes was Glued to my monitor and than I watched again and again. Tried to download this video but couldn't since youtube has disabled all downloads.
Most of the Kathak dancers, so far, I've seen are either old or out of shape or just ugly thus their dance performances doesn't look so appealing or interesting. Whereas, Kumar Sharma is young, energetic, good looking and most of all he has a good physique which is vital in any Indian classical dances. Because of his physique, all his movement, gesture and stance look so gracious & divine. I hope, he'll keep it up with his physique and Art.
I wish him all the best and hope to see him a lot; perhaps Bollywood or Hollywood movies or at least on a big dance concert.
