It is inaccurate to say that they disagree. Clearly we are talking about different schools of music, and while Assad is focused on an interpretive conception in his commentary, Brouwer is especially focused on his compositional style. What is more, even on Brouwer’s compositions, in the case of those which are evidently in an “accompanied melody” (like the cancion de cuna or um dia de noviembre), what Assad is saying applies with perfection. Thanks for sharing but I’d advise some more caution in the presentation of the matter at hand!
Came here to say this too. ----> Good job of the click-bait, @Tonebase 👎 Lame.
True
Exactly!!!
Clickbait...
Leo Brouwer is the one who truly wrote the intro to Diary of a Madman... He's a goddamn genius.
As someone who loves beautiful melodies all I can say is Leo Brower has created some true masterpieces - the Black Decameron and a Day in November are wonderful.
It's funny cause if Brower is saying that he does not care about Melody and then maybe that is why I don't understand and do not like his composition I see his composition as very very abstract and I just don't play it
Both are great but I do think Melodies tend to get overrated
I don't know. For me right now harmony is as important as melody. If not more so
Leo Brouwer likes to master the composition and the maths in music, to show off his mental abilities in rythms and dissonant spunds (which he said he oreferred since he started playing guitar).
🐐
Melody had primacy long before the 19th century.
Yes, however composers' standard way of learning music writing has been 3-part counterpoint (equal voices) until late 18th century. Old counterpoint became sort of a secondary thing during the 19th.
Interesting..
Los hijos de la clave norteñs
So they agree....
Buen guitarrista Assad.
Pero a Leo Brouwer tiene mucho que aprenderle.
This djents
I love them both but I think melody is still the queen that's why noone can remember Browers's works and play them by whistle.
lmao
I can, when there's a melody.
Well, I overall prefer Sergio’s music much more. Personally, I always look for a melody in music. Leo gets a little tonal for me sometimes, plus he’s a self proclaimed communist, and I can’t stand communists; even when occasionally they compose great music
Why did you have to bring your dislike towards certain politic system into the discussion of music? It does not sound very relevant though. I think both composers are great in their own way. Every composer has their own musical voice, so it is easy to see why they have different style of composing and they talk about it in different ways.
@@knd1986 i forgot to consult with you on the most proper way to comment on music. Communism totally sucks!
@@niceguitar6144 That is fine to express your personal view point. I respect it. Cheers.
@@knd1986 great. Cheers
@@niceguitar6144Dang... That sure is disappointing. Ah well..
