I find it incredible that there are people that would actually give this a thumbs down. Someone takes the time to put this on the air, gives a good explanation, makes a great and easy to read video with entertaining imagery and that's still not satisfactory??? WTF.
Thank you Rockabilly88 that was kind of you to say. It's nice to be recognized for the hard work I put into my lessons. I really appreciate it. The important thing is that the lessons are helping out others, so I never let any of the negative comments and dislikes bother me. Keep on rockin my friend! DAMIAN :)
That is the sad part of RUclips comment section, Damian makes a great series of videos that ABACADABRA! will give you guitar skills in a half hour or less and somebody has to go negative. The goods news is that Damian gets 1k thumbs up and keeps making his great works with a smile!
Negative comments are likely from people who made their own inferior video lessons. This is FUN, and informative. I love swing guitar, although I'm more of a lead player - I need to learn...THANKS!!
That being said, I find comments like this odd. Out of 2.2k likes, it would be very odd to not find at least 10 drunk guys who misclicked. Elementary stats tell you that you'd be extremely unlikely to ever see 100% likes, even if 100% of people liked the video.
Many also undervalue the influence that Western Swingers had on the NYC Hardcore scene in the mid to late 1980's. Many feel that it was instrumental to its evolution.
I totally agree with you Glenn, same goes for Slayer's forays into Rockabilly !! P.S Damian is killing it on this, superb player and a great teacher ..Keep on Rockin'
This literally just solved 10 years of confusion for me. Thank you so much! I love Bob Wills and i never knew what the guitar player was doing because it's so fast!!
I have had several swing lessons, but none as well done and as easy to understand as this one. The tablature along with showing the chord makes it so clear to understand. Thank you!!
Love these (and all of your lessons). Your jazz rhythms were great and these 3 western swing rhythms are just as fun. Please keep creating more of these lessons. Can't wait to see what we're onto next!
Love this so much. Found your channel by searching for Western Swing stuff. I am going to try to tackle playing this. Thank you for making it. I hope you make more.
how have i not seen your videos before?! thanks for the tips Damian! i love that you give some historical context as well! i tried doing that for the robert johnson video i made not too long ago. i look forward to seeing your other videos now!
Damien you never cease to amaze me . Your instructional videos are great and easy to understand and your appreciation for this style of music is also A wonderful thing . Thanks for your effort and musical wisdom !!🤟 👨 👽
Thanks so much for this breakdown Damian! This is a genre of music I’ve just been getting into and to have a tutorial like this with the chords payed out is just what I need. I’m sure getting these progressions and rhythms down will help me as I learn more Western Swing and other forms of jazz.
Fantastic! As an old rock guitar player who’s been pursuing jazz for the last couple of years, I’ve found it really hard to get into most styles of guitar jazz - as rad as they might be harmonically, they just seem way too mellow, and they don’t really communicate (for me anyway) the power of swing. The style you’re demonstrating here has all the groove and swing that I’ve been looking for … Thanks a million for making this!
Thank you so much! I'm trying to learn western swing guitar and I find it difficult to find content to start to learn the basics and structure of it. So thank you for this great video :)
I love these progressions..I'm learning these 3 note chord shapes....new to me..but your explanations and your examples are great and helpful. Keep it up...! the finesse of your playing is inspirational! Good on ya bro!
Really liking your lessons mate. You break down this style of music and all the rockabilly stuff really well. It is helping me out big time. Keep up the great work. cheers
Hey Mr. Man Bacci. Thank you! This was just what I was looking for. I shall practice on my lovely old Hofner Commitee and hopefully it will, sound as sweet as you.
Damian, you’re literally my fav guitar channel. You’re so informative and fun to watch. I’m very interested in support your channel and buying some lessons from your website. Thanks for being you! - Your fellow guitar picker, JB.
Wow thats a whole new type of music to me but im the uk. but Example two reminds me of a song from an old Elvis movie Love me tender i think the song was he was singing on his porch never knew it was a full style of play. Thank you very much
It's hard to find a teacher that actually shares what's he us doing, in charts,,great find here,,he really breaks things diwn,,muscle memorie will take over in these chords ,but u got to learn slow at first if yr. Not used to moving through chord shapes....

There are a shit ton of assholes on the Interwebs, my friend. DB is one of the best guitar teachers/music educators on the RUclipss.

I played Western Swing rythym guitar professionally for 13 years, and never knew how to play these! Now I can learn what I SHOULD have been playing!
Glad you enjoyed the lesson. Thank you for watching. :)
Lmao
A lot of people dismiss Minor Threat's western swing phase, but I quite like their work in that period.
Agreed - Ian McKay was one of the great undiscovered hardcore fiddle players of the 80s.
Glenn Storey

Fun fact, Gorilla Biscuits were originally called " Walter and his Swingin city slicksters"!
This literally just solved 10 years of confusion for me. Thank you so much! I love Bob Wills and i never knew what the guitar player was doing because it's so fast!!
Thank you for actually putting the chord names and chord structures on each chord change. The only person I’ve seen do it so far. VERY helpful!
You're welcome Mark. Thank you very much for watching. :)

I have had several swing lessons, but none as well done and as easy to understand as this one. The tablature along with showing the chord makes it so clear to understand. Thank you!!

Your bike has a flat. And I love this lesson!

Thanks, what a great lesson. Workin on those chords
Hey really really, i hear a little Gypsy Jazz, a la DiJango Reinhartdt. I would like to learn this.
Angel Martinez, exactly what I was thinking...Django!
There is a lot of django in what they do, western swing was heavily influenced by the hot club of France recordings
It's hard to find a teacher that actually shares what's he us doing, in charts,,great find here,,he really breaks things diwn,,muscle memorie will take over in these chords ,but u got to learn slow at first if yr. Not used to moving through chord shapes....
Mavellous! Thankyou!
Thanks Graham. I hope the lesson is helpful. :)
Well... great lessons!!! Greetings from Germany (East Berlin)
Thanks for the lesson, dude. I'm actually using it to learn the same chords and progressions on mandolin. Really fun!
Sometimes (quite a bit) a D9 is played instead of a D7. and an Augmented D at the end of the last bar.
Damian thank you so much for the video you’re such a cool cat!!!!
Awesome and concise. 🤘🤘
Thank you Steven :)

DAMIAN

Your vids are great! Keep it up Bacci!
Am I having auditory hallucinations, or is example number two "I Got Rhythm?" I sang the lyrics over the changes you played , and it fit like a glove.
Very nice! Thank you for your effort, much appreciated. Would it be a stretch to ask what some songs would be you can use these rhythms in?
YOU'RE BACK!!!!!!! HIII!!!!!!
Love it!
Thank you Dante :)
