Hello Freeball, thank you for your video.
As an (almost) graduated engineer, I am ashamed to ask such a question but ... Could you give me some hint on how you derived your element matrices [m] and [k] ?
This is a failry old video, I hope you will see my message and have a bit a time to help me.
    Best wishes.

This video is part of a playlist and the video that precedes it addresses the derivation of the element matrices. Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/HFkK6n7sKfc/видео.html

YOur videos are awesome. Was wondering if you could extend to 2D. How can you help out with what the mass and stiffness matrices would look like in 2D?

Sound like you are asking about a thin plate finite element (Kirchoff-Love plate theory). This is the 2D equivalent of the Euler-Bernoulli beam (ie shear stresses are insignificant). Will likely take me some time to produce this video based on my current schedule, however, in the meantime you can lookup "Kirchoff plates."

@@Freeball99 thanks for your response. The problem is I am new to programming and new to FE as well. I have written a small program for the 2D heat equation. Can you kindly take a look? Its in Python as well..thanks

Could you please do an improved beam video please, beam with 3 nodes in a element

Let me look into this. The 3-node beam element will produce a 6x6 matrix which gets very tedious when trying to do it within a short video I need to think about how to shorten this. You should, however, be able to get there by applying the method used in the improved (3-node bar element) to the 2-node beam.
