When I got saved, I sincerely prayed and ask the Lord, to help me know Him more. And how did he answer? He gave me thirst and hunger for His words, and that is the Bible. So I started reading since then, and kept reading. It's amazing how much the Holy Spirit have revealed and taught me so much about the Lord Jesus. From old to new testament, he's there. Indeed he is the same today, yesterday and forever. And the rest was pointing me to the right people like church and being part of a discipleship. That's how He helped me grow in my faith as well.

Buong sumuko kay God and let him na mag gabay sayo ang dapat mo lang gawin ay pray and be still and know that he is God. Trust lang kay God and you will overcome it. Naranasan ko rin yan
I wouldn't underestimate the health side of things. Prayer to God can help, but it is if the depression persists (it has a clinical picture) then it is more appropriate to consider medical consultation and medication. I don't know how it is in your country, but I would probably sacrifice money and time to consult a doctor or purchase appropriate antidepressants. The insidious thing about depression is that to remove or alleviate it, you have to do something, which is precisely the worst thing: do something. It's a stuck state where you know what would probably help, but you are unable to do it. It is also often caused by conditions that are very difficult to change (a negative or negatively felt socio-economic situation and its outlook, loss of a partner, stressful situations at work/company/school, etc., etc.) and it is necessary to continue to exist in such an environment, with the prospect of improvement not at all or difficult to realize... Depression could also be a signal for some other disease, some internal function in the body or brain. This, too, is worth ruling out. The medical side of the matter can also be partly supported by the individual himself, by trying, for example, some stronger vitamins (their real or placebo-effect), some natural substances that increase the serotonin level, but, again: faster and more certain onset have real pharmaceutical preparations after a prior consultation with a doctor who will establish the diagnosis... exclude or confirm the causes... probably everyone understands. It is also possible to read some scientific literature on depression etc. But again, the biggest problem is that often the individual knows what would help, or has even tried it repeatedly, but "nothing" has helped... If it has reached such a state, help from doctors is probably necessary. Simply praying to God can become a trap and even lead to loss of faith. For theologically speaking, the question: Why does God allow evil (diseases and also depression, wars, economic and social problems, etc.) is considered one of the most difficult questions, and not only of Christian theology. Therefore, to seek an answer to it in a state of (acute) depression is probably not the best solution...
