Richard Todd Thanks for watching, Richard! The first time I tried the strainer, I did not secure the top too well and my meal ended up on the ground. Oh well . . . lesson learned 😅
Thought about adding this for backpacking with my wife since we have a Jetboil Flash already but you convinced me not to because if it's only convenient for boiling water we might as well just stick with the Flash system and avoid the weight and bulk. I don't want to have to bring oil to cook with and it sounds like I would definitely need it with this. Thanks for the review!
The Flash is a really good stove. The Flash can hold more water than my discontinued Jetboil Sol. An option you could try is the Jetboil Summit Pan. I have not tried it yet but the reviews have been decent for it. One of my friends brings a small frypan that they got at a department store. It works really well for cooking and is less expensive than a backpack frypan. Since it was designed for kitchen use, the handle takes up some room in the backpack. If your backpack has the room, a regular small frypan could be another option. Thanks for watching, Matt!
I use the Jetboil 1.5L Ceramic FluxRing Cook Pot with the MSR Whisperlite International Stove. It boils water really quick even in sub zero conditions and the Whisperlite sits well inside the pot (with a soft cloth to protect the ceramic coating). The combination is unchallenged in my humble opinion!
Thanks for the video! I need a pot for a backpacking trip with 2-3 people. Can I cook food and not only boil water with less than a 1.5 liters pot? I want a pot that will be big enough but not bulky for backpacking..
In my experience, it works well with foods that require a lot of water such as rice or pasta. But for cooking, it’s average. There are other backpacking pans that are better than this
Yes, you can use the cover as a plate but you can't use it as a cover. I used mine once and the top cover melted. I only put the lid on after cooking to keep the food warm. It melted.
Matt.Cook.Oregon HAHA! Yeah, definitely too big for backpacking of it is just for me but if it used for two or three people, it’s not too bad. The review was done at one of the metro parks in Columbus, Ohio. Thanks for the question 🙂
I am unsure of the availability of this cooking pot in the Philippines. There are other brands that would be a suitable replacement if availability is an issue
Caywood Survival Thanks for watching! The running challenge has been on a hiatus till it stops raining and gets above 40°. After doing a few of the runs below freezing, I realize it’s not as great as everybody told me it would be 😅
Great idea with the folding cup
Thanks! It does make a useful storage area while in your backpack
Strainer...top marks for invention

Very good review. Take Care and Keep Exploring The Outdoors.
Unpaved Explorer Thanks for watching! 🙂
Nice review was thinking of getting pot but now no, will get summit skillet instead we have the minimo for water for 2 of us thankyou !
I’m glad this video helped in your decision. The summit skillet is the better option
Seems a little large for backpacking maybe? Love the background and setting for your review.

Side sleeve is for a lighter or a fork thingy ....... spoon always a spoon. Great vid thanks.
Never thought of placing a lighter in the sleeve. Piezo igniter sometimes does not work. Thanks for the tip 👍
It is available in they pilipines???

Hilariously informative video and very enjoyable! 🤓🤣👍
Thank you!! I’m glad it was enjoyable to watch 😊
Can you use it on a fire?
I’ve a actually never tried it over a campfire but I assume you could if you take off the neoprene pot cover off and have it suspended above the fire.
Nice review my friend! Looks like it works pretty good. How is the running challenge going ?

@@MarkDouglasOutside Picking up my Jetboil Minimo today. So thank you for your contribution to my decision.
Congrats you bought yourself an expensive storage bin.. lol
HAHA!! You are 100% correct!! I don’t even use it because it is too heavy and bulky for backpacking trips.
