Laodikeia, which was destroyed as a result of the wars between the Seljuks and Byzantines and especially the waterways were deteriorated, started to be abandoned in time and the settlement started to move towards Ladik, Denizli, where there are abundant water resources, starting from the 11th century. The city suffered great damage during an earthquake in 1702-1703 and was later rebuilt. Denizli, which is located on a natural road leading to the interior from the Aegean coast, became rapidly crowded as a result of the development of this location and the agricultural activities around it, especially after the improvement of the highways in the 1950s, and its population, which was 22,000 in 1950, has increased approximately 25 times in the past 60 years. Denizli, which has a very developed industry, tourism, trade and service sector, is one of the most developed cities in Turkey. He is the head of the Anatolian Tigers. It is among the most important capitals of textile in the world. In addition, Serinhisar district meets 85% of Turkey's need for chickpeas and chickpeas products. Denizli is among Turkey's 10 largest economies. Kent has a good reputation in the USA and EU markets for towels, bathrobes and home textiles. Its weather and nature reflect the averages of the Aegean Region. Pamukkale is on the UNESCO world cultural heritage list. Karahayıt is also an international thermal center. The name of the city is mostly referred to as “Laodikeia on the shore of Lykos” in ancient sources. According to other ancient sources, the city was built between 261-263 BC. It was founded by Antiochus and the city was named after Antiochus' wife, Laodike. B.C. In 130/129, the region was completely connected to Rome (first the Republic, then the Empire). The city, which has one of the first 7 churches of Christianity, became a religious center at the metropolitan level during the Early Byzantine Period. Arapapıştı Canyon is the canyon formed by the Akçay river feeding the Kemer Dam located in the Bozdoğan district of Aydın. The length of the canyon is 6 kilometers and its height is 380 meters. A part of the canyon is located on the border of Aydın, Denizli and Muğla provinces. It was opened to tourism by Aydın Metropolitan Municipality in 2017.
