In the second location the "pole" is not an electricity pole. It is used to hang attractants away from animals while you are sleeping or away from the site. Many places use trees for this, but when there are no trees oftentimes you will find these "hangs" near huts or other shelters.
Fun fact - at 2:25 the quality of the picture is so good, you can see 3 largest galaxies from the Local Group: The Andromeda, Milky Way and Triangulum. It's most certainly long exposure, but probably not too long either. They're so nicely captured because of exceptionally clear skies in a valley with hardly any lights around.
15:35 im from the faroe islands, if you ever see any flatness like this its never faroes its all hilly. so thats one way to tell faroes apart from iceland and other places
@@smallwisdom8819 It's to keep bears from finding seeing humans as a food source. If they get comfortable coming back to a place where there is consistently food from human, they can become habituated to humans and it gets quite dangerous. Unfortunately in those situations the bear usually needs to be killed, which is why it's so important to keep the food away from them.
The iceland radar station I visited last year. I'm always excited to see locations I've visited before. You are right, those mountains in that area have a different look
Wonderful locations! Only managed to beat you in the second round - scored an unusually high 15k. Kicked myself with the first round with the stars - been near there at least a dozen times - never knew that exact place existed. BUT the beach after that one I've actually been to, so I was able to nearly pinpoint that one (just chose the beach north of it). Thanks again for sharing these!

The pole in photo 2 is installed in many Canadian parks so that people can hang their food bags and prevent bears from getting the food.
I wonder if that is a good idea if the bears are hungry and grumpy then? But I really don't know much about bears.
