Primitive Skills: How to growing floating rice on a raft in a pond, Floating Rice Farm (ep 172)
- I use bamboos and tie them up into a floating raft in the pond. I put a layer of leaves on the bottom so that the soil does not fall to the bottom of the pond and also as fertilizer for the rice later. This is my first time growing rice this way, I don't know if I will succeed. Anyone who has grown this way can show me.

Primitive Skills I know your a busy man so would it be more convenient for you to meet up at Ha Giang on the 1st Nov.
Can one of us like.. Mail you a shirt, I'm serious.. ytou can upload so you must have a post office nearby or something.
Also your paypal link doesn't work.
cool aquaponic solution . thanks for the videos. how long do you expect the bamboo to last in the water before it rots? are the rafts buoyant enough the weight of the rice plants will be a lot which is fine for the first half of the growth cycle but how will you make it dry for the second half? and when will you make the sawmill? and how will you transfer from the wheel to the saw? i know the methods but cant decide which way you will use.
@@primitiveskillsexposed2391 i am pretty sure that if he wanted to break character he would have
And here I was thinking he was building a pond/pool like all the other “survival” channels and this man here is showing us next level actual life sustaining skills! Dude you are AN ABSOLUTE LEGEND! Keep these great videos coming.
so glad you're always here
@@PrimitiveSkillsnet There are lots of us always here. Most of us don't comment lots! :)
Thanks for your content. Always enjoyable!
Yeah he’s got a whole fish nursery/farm going on and now he’s using it for rice too which is cool

This guy is one of my almost-three-year-old son's and my favorite survival channels. Everything you see in this video, except for the torn shirt and his shorts, he made from scratch out on site from harvested materials there or from the surrounding wilds, with tools he made the exact same way (including the iron/steel tools which made his own anvil and from smelting local ore-bearing rocks using rocks as anvils and hammers, and an ax that he made the same way previously). While I've seen other people do technology progression, this guy does it while hunting, fishing, gathering, and using subsistence agriculture and aquaculture to sustain himself. In other words, I agree with @J K , the guy running this channel is an ABSOLUTE LEGEND for doing all of that while doing a brilliant job to catch it with adept cinematography and editing. I hope more people see all the videos of this channel. It is impressive, admirable, encouraging, interesting, and soothing to watch all at the same time.
You don't think he made the tools himself do you ??

All you’ve accomplished is amazing. I love watching your channel.
Woah this is amazing! I always know something cool is coming when you don't post for a while. Well done 🙌
I'm busy with work, it takes more than 1 week to complete them
@@PrimitiveSkillsnet I appreciate your efforts and always amazed how much you can achieve in a short time on your own.
This was seriously impressive. Awesome to see your agriculture turning full circle again.
Hope your foot is ok and you can take care of yourself
You motivated me to build a house. Thank you brother. I respect you very much and always look forward to your videos. I bought a plot and only while pouring the foundation. From Russia with love friend. Keep making your unique video.
I would consider looking into the Mexican equivalent of this, called Chinampas. They use reeds for flotation, which might be a tad more stable over time. They're also known as some of the most productive agriculture out there, with highly fertile soils. Interested to see where this leads!
You might check out the origin of Mexico City and how it started. Very similar process, it's pretty interesting.
Mexico sure is a wonderful place historically, sucks nowdays it is filled with bad things tied to it like violence and drugs.
Which isn't really everywhere but it is there more often than not.
Also I'm from brazil and I went to mexico for 3 months just to travel and consider maybe living there and as brazil being for the most part known for the same things, mexico is actually just slight better, at least economically and culturally while brazil lacks everything else or just does it poorly.
Mexico is growing and becoming better and better, that is something I saw clearly there.
I would never have thought of creating a garden barge to grow rice in a fish pond, but it makes perfect sense when you see it completed. Sustainable growing beds in a limited space.
Once again I was right there with you. I could feel the heat of the day, the humidity and smell your cook fire as well as the decay of the vegetation. I could feel the rain hitting me and enjoyed the swim when you took a break. Thank you for such an interesting video and taking me back to your land. I look forward to your next video.
*This is fun! Today, this video will make me happy. thanks😊👍*
Oh man this is such a FREAKING COOL IDEA!😳 You're such a legendary legend of legends 😎
A tremendous amount of work but it still doesn't compare to the 5 foot tall, 1/4 mile long Roman concrete retaining wall you built for that magnificent pond. Truly amazing!
Using primitive, well formed concrete blocks of course.

My favorite long lasting primitive survival channel! Your ideas are so originals and well executed! Congratulations
I was thinking of this the same but use plastic bottles that people throw away, set them up as a raft and plant the rice. Now u did it for me.
God bless you and all the success in your endeavors
! Siempre esperando el siguiente cap.
EXTREMELY HYDROPONIC STYLE, WELL DONE 👍…kindly post soon again please 🇨🇦
*How to grow floating rice in the pond is very good 👍👍*
Another great video. Well done my friend. You’re a true inspiration. By far the best survival channel. You created two islands 👏👏👏👏👏
maybe dredging the dirt underneath the pond, since im sure that the build up of fish poop and decaying matter would be very good for the rice plant.
Sou sua fã, acompanho teus vídeos desde o primeiro 🤗

You keep blowing my mind. I've been watching for a long time and I've said there have been favorites of mine been this is my new favorite from you. You making those rafts remind me of water world to be honest and I absolutely love that movie. The scene @31:05 looks like an absolute vibe and I loved that scene enough to make it a background. Thanks for posting and I love your content! Much love! Thanks!
amazing technic to grow rice like that. this could be an example for the whole world. keep going. And I am curious about the "new thing" coming in the next video.
I really think you should make yourself some bamboo chimes.....on a windy day it would sound so nice.
It is great to see that mixed in with all of your hard work, you take some time for a little fun! 😃👍 That makes life more enjoyable.
Kudos to the camerawork. It was already amazing at the beginning of the channel and has somehow progressed to phenomenal levels. Every single moment is such a serene shot and immersive experience as well as storytelling. Seriously, kudos to whoever is directing!

oh you baught a traveling, that's so cool !
You should try using wood for shingle roofing in your next building. It looks really nice for something that’s just made from thin slabs of wood and definitely something you’d be able to do now.
Your shirt finally wear off. And I am looking forward to seeing your new clothes' arrival.
Beautyfull location 👍❤️

Your AWESOME! I know your going to keep working on this project for awhile. When you decide your done you should rent it out for those who want a once in a life time chance to experience. I bet you could make A LOT OF MONEY doing it. It's absolutely beautiful what you've done. I've watched you since your beginning and your 2nd channel as well. You always impress me with your skills, I'm not your mother but I'm still very proud of you.😃
Please consider making a sheath for your machete/heavy knife (dao ru'a ?). A belt-carry, or shoulder strap sheath.
It would free up your hand to steady yourself or the load you are carrying. It would also guarantee that you would always have it with you (no leaving it behind because you forgot), it would not get lost/misplaced in all the underbrush/forest floor debris ..... AND, less chance of you stepping on it with your bare feet !! Injuries in jungle climates can get infected quickly.
Potential future video topics: "How to treat injuries in the jungle" - Primitive Medicinal Plants of the Jungle.
wonderful!!
what an amazing ideas you always give us knowledge that are not imposible to have farm like what you present to us your a genius men!!! you can do everything pls. take care of your health bye!!!
Good work men, I love your contet, keep going!! Greetings from Argentina.
Clever idea to make the best use out of the space you have. Also the rice needs to be hydrated a lot, so on the water is the best option, i'm sure.
Ouch!! 😬 that looks like it hurt mate! Hope it heals up quickly and doesn't give you too much trouble.
