I do own a tele lens like that and live in a rain forest. It indeed is very common to get soft video and stills when you are in a rain forest with no light even during peak mid day. The slow aperture in the end focal lenght often let too low light for the camera to find focus in the same speed and precision it does in good light conditions. And sometimes you stay a whole day for a species like that to feel ok to return to the nest and have few moments where the subject is gonna be on a good spot to shoot. People often think it is different from that because a lot of Pros publish super sharp content... BUT they go to places where everything is built to capture a good photo and have so much feeders for so many decades, that several generations of the species are already accustomed with humans. Countries like equador, Costa Rica and some spots in Brasil are like that. But it is very different from walking through a forest. In fact i sometimes work with a friend that only works guiding Pros from outside Brasil... and it is always to places with good photo conditions. When it is away from those.. people rarely use camera for more than 5 minutes. They keep on with binoculars.
