  • In this Istria travel vlog about Croatia’s Istria peninsula, travel to Rovinj. Complete your Istria travel itinerary with this beautiful seaside town. See Istria’s dramatic Roman amphitheater and eat with the turquoise water splashing at your feet. We explore what makes Istria travel special in this travel vlog about the fantastic town of Rovinj and nearby Pula and Porec.
Rovinj sits on the shores of a large peninsula called Istria in the very north of Croatia, travel of only seventy miles from Venice Italy, across the sea.
Istria travelers in Rovinj find tight cobble stone alleys, warm colors of the buildings, and the mild mediterranean climate and sunshine. Archways and stone tunnels echo the middle ages and give Istria and Rovinj a sense of mystery and adventure.
At the at the top of the hill at the church, smell the sea, look at the view view of the glistening blue, and feel the breeze. There’s cute restaurants set on the water, fishing boats working and keeping the town alive with authenticity and town squares for gatherings and celebrations. You’l find a yacht and sailboat harbor and turquoise beaches too. Istria, Croatia has this all.
In nearby Pula we visit the Roman ruins of the amphitheater. We get another dose of history and the passage of time in Porec, just north of Rovinj where the Byzantines left behind an impressive Basilica with lovely columns and mosaics.
Back in Rovinj we take you to Maestral, one our favorite restaurants.
The seaside setting with the view - unbelievable. The food - amazing.
The travel vlog shows you a delightful Fishermans pie from Istria, with anchovies, onions, tomato, olives and parsley inside. Maestral, Croatia also makes Delicious whole fish, shrimp, and pasta.
But what we loved the most was how this restaurant shows off Istria’s most powerful draw. The warm-hearted staff - patient, funny, dedicated and grateful. Hope you enjoyed our travel vlog, see you in the next episode!

I hope to get to Rovinj off-season, and bicycle the Parenzana Trail from Poreč to Trieste. The olive oil and truffles in Istria are top notch.

A bit rude to say Pula is an eye sore. Obviously you didn’t see much of it.
