  • Well Peeps! Mia is back home with her family after two weeks of building a solid obedience foundation that will set her up to becoming the everywhere dog her family wants her to be!
Although Mia is still a young pup, training EARLY is essential in staving off all of those unwanted behaviors that tend to bubble up the older a dog gets. Thanks to her wonderful family, Mia has learned how to function and behave in the human world, and it’s now up to them to follow through, stay consistent, and establish a dependable routine. Remember - behavior is formed out of repeatedly practiced habits. Those habits can either create a reliable, stable, respectful dog, or fuel the opposite - manic, aggressive, disrespectful, or hyper-reactive.
We talked about how when a dog clearly knows what it is you are asking, but may still willfully make the choice to ignore your wishes, that it is in that very moment, we need to step up, and demand respect before our dogs quickly learn that they can bulldoze right on over us, making rules that serve them alone.
Dogs are at their best, most stable, healthy, and comfortable selves (just like our kids) when there is structure, routine, boundaries, rules, and accountability at play. A small shift in each one of these areas can work miracles. All it takes is your attention, follow though, and commitment to making it happen.
Mia is one lucky girl - her Grandma is a total rockstar, and has provided her with the foundation needed to be her most balanced and true self!
