  • Many people think Artificial Intelligence is the key to winning the blockchain war but it is not. In this episode, I explain the three elements that make a protocol successful. I also provide the reasons why only these three elements will result in market success. All I ask is that you misfit consider my words seriously.

I don’t disagree with your thesis. However here’s something to think about: VCs, tech companies, name brand companies and even Dfinity have access to data and metrics that the average person does not. Hence, the estimated Ai trillion dollar market has been forecasted. Furthermore, the blockchain that captures the Ai utility will have enormous value when considering how much money will flow into this space. Ai on blockchain solves a major problem and fulfills a need when it comes to cybersecurity and transparency. Therefore, Bobby’s thesis is a solid one when looking at Ai utility as a whole.

It will definitely help to burn cycles. I think Dom is aware of the hype ( i seem to remember seeing him mention the hype specifically in a video ). Dfinity’s biggest goal is to encourage large compute to happen on chain to burn more cycles to increase the profitability of the network. It therefore makes sense that they have been improving data processing features like f64 operations and increase in canister heap memory. A.I. Is just the largest compute task around at the moment so if your chain can support ML operations then your chain can support encoding large videos etc

I could be wrong. But I don't think you're disagreeing with BobbyO. You're agreeing with him. I agree that developer friendliness is one of the keys to ICP adoption. My understanding is that AI will help in this regard. AI will be able to write code for applications widely used by the ordinary person today. AI will be able to write code for your CityXcape app so that you don't have to, freeing up time for you to study more the target audience of the app. So that you can improve the app so that it better serves that target audience. Maybe my understanding of AI is wrong. Anyway, I like your work and respect the way you went about expressing your opinion. We need more of this kind of civility.

AI cant write apps. There are too many grey areas when building applications but it can help speed up productivity of skilled software developers depending on the task

    • @oloac
      @oloac 10 дней назад

@@osagie6862 I would tend to agree with you. We'll just have to wait and see to what degree there is human involvement in the creation of apps when AI is used. When Dfinity says "Upon verbal instructions, AI can create and update secure custom running applications, not just write code" what level of human involvement are they talking about. I do believe, as you say, AI will play a significant role in expediting the process.
This Thursday we'll see what the big announcement will be. Dominic has said repeatedly that people will be able to say something like "When Bitcoin reaches $100,000 sell half and buy Ethereum" and AI will make the trade for them. I think this is the feature of ICP that he will talk about. Although I could be wrong.

When AI can write Motoko code for you via prompt based dapp development...when that advances and average (non-coders) are launching dapps on ICP. If that happens then I see AI being the determinant factor.

Its true that AI isn’t going to be the determining factor. However, the technology required to compute on the scale not only required by AI but other intensive tasks related to data and format encoding is now possible by the changes they made. For example supporting 64 bit floating points are important to linear algebra operations required in ML but they’re also important in a lot of areas. Most blockchains do not support floats and this is in essence a further DX improvement. So yeah, A.I. Isn’t the be all and end all but getting to the point at which you can crunch a lot of data ( compute ) over a long period of time is the important bit that everyone misses and by unlocking this feature for one area we do so for many other areas. I personally view the ability to do A.I. on chain as the ability to now compute anything on chain. This was not possible prior. By demonstrating you can produce or run inference on a model on chain you by defacto also prove you can compute nearly all other areas of heavy compute

Think youve missed the mark on this one imo. AI is not the key to winning but its definitely one of the major key factors (along with being 100% on-chain, eliminating cyber security and DID's. Most do not have a comprehensive understanding of what “AI" can actually do in this space. Its much bigger than most think, coding for one will be partially replaced by AI sooner than you think

    • @antspantzz

Can AI autonomously build and code you an app? Let’s say no for now. Can AI assist someone who has an idea for an app but has no coding experience? Yes. Similar to prompting an AI to further refine a written paper, users will be able to tell the AI what kind of app to build, define and refine the features of the app. The code already exists. Imo AI can write code better than it can write a paper.

Ive used most of the LLM’s as code assistants, i ended up removing every single one because they routinely screw up basic stuff. Its not thinking, it’s probabilistically guessing what word or token should come next. Maybe these LLM’s will get better, but until then ill use it as a learning tool to explore topics and that’s about it. Btw - Software engineer for over a decade and I’ve built CNNs and LLMs from scratch.

AI is happening at an accelerating rate. Currently 64 bit ICP is orders of magnitude ahead of any other use of blockchain. Huge AI apps will be able to fit in a single canister that will need potentially require 10’s to 1,000’s of GB. Of course this same expanded 64 bit ability will also enable lots of other large enterprise types of applications to easily be deployed on ICP.

Wow had to stop the car to text...if I didn't get it wrong ICP's AI will allow even the average Joe that has an "idea"to develop DApps just by talking (instructing)to it, thus, the idea will be coming from a human for a human and the tech will facilitate the process a lot.

I recently saw a video from Coin Bureau discussing that one of the reasons Aptos and SUI have grown so quickly is due to the ease of use of the MOVE language. I was also looking at the JUNO tools that might make it easier for developers to access ICP resources using their preferred language. Developer involvement is going to be as key as any narrative.

But ICP also needs to be the leading blockchain for the number one narrative in the space, which is AI.

AI will need more computing power than anyone has, it does not matter how many servers you throw together for computation, it can only compute broken pieces for tasking and can't do a large enough scale for any breakthroughs beyond human capabilities. Mesh server computing has its limits but would help leap it forward, only one company is actually working on this as far as I know and believe it or not its a gaming company. I don't fear AI but I do fear AI in bad actors hands.... you could do anything and everyone would have to some counter sercurity AI that is not on chain. Hence why AI on chain and humans profiles and data on chain would be safer than the current situation. I have many ideas and I am considering to write some DAPPs with ICP in the future. I think for know you have the right idea, we are years away from AI being anything truely innovative.

    Your thesis loses
Value once you see ethereum being on the market for almost a decade and they just achieved “product market
Fit” (in the niche industry of web3) with defi.
ICP needs to focus on infrastructure and make it technically possible for everyone to build whatever they want, just like a traditional cloud environment. Thousands of useless projects is not better that just a single one that gets traction, so If AI will be that one then we must focus on that, again providing infrastructure that’s all
Dfinity is working on, they are not developing their own SNS focused on AI, just adapting the ICP software!
