Gopro Hero3+ Black Underwater Harbor Seal Freediving Laguna Beach

- I took my Gopro Hero3+ down to the beach to go freediving again last week and the conditions were epic! It was so much fun free diving, trying to take advantage of the awesome weather! I was able to score a couple great dives! I was visited by a harbor seal underwater, yet again! haha It's another beautiful day here in sunny California and we have had some excellent freediving conditions recently! The ocean has been pretty calm recently with not much swell coming through. No waves means good viability underwater for free diving! It's funny, my friend Austin and I joke about how recently we get more stoked when there aren't any waves because the water is calm and clear. Heir go, better for diving! We have had some awesome dives out in the ocean the past week ^_^ This video is of another harbor seal I encountered last week, these guys just seem to love me! haha He followed me around for me entire freedive! I think it's really cool when you can communicate through body language with an animal like this underwater! He definitely seemed to be enjoying my company because he kept following me! Every time I thought he'd swam off, he would pop out of the kelp somewhere and swim back over to where I was. This is just one of the many reasons I love the ocean so much! You never know what will happen next! No matter how well you think you can predict it! It was an amazing experience to connect with this harbor seal underwater. I spent over an hour freediving with this seal, he just kept following me everywhere I went ^_^ It was an epic dive I will never forget! For me, there is nothing greater in this world than to be able to bond with a wild animal and learn more about them through a positive encounter like in this video. I have had a great respect for the ocean my entire life and am always fascinated by all the sea life and marine animals! The ocean never seizes to amaze me! I thank God everyday for the fact that I'm able to enjoy the beauty of the vast ocean and experience unforgettable moments like this! Most people never get to experience being underwater with animals but for me, it's what I live for =oD I also want to give a big thank you shout out to all my subscribers, you guys have been so encouraging and supportive! That's some thick groves of giant kelp there. I saw a couple harbor seals earlier today (Tues Dec. 17) by Goff cove. They pop their heads out of water and look at you sometimes. 2 different tidepools at the Goff island rocks had an octopus in it today. 1 of the octopi seemed to be trying to capture a juvenile opaleye but without success. The opaleye are too fast.
I freedive for crab and spearfish frequently in the puget sound here in WA state in super cold water (47 degrees) and we have a harbor seal "sally" who frequents us, and she's super playful! Its always fun when seals come and dive with you, THATS freediving at its finest :D
