The middleweight range used to stop at 800 cc displacement. Did this suddenly change? The Rebel is a liter bike. So is the BMW for that matter. I have a Kawasaki Vulcan S. it's close to my last bike in power and a middleweight motorcycle. You really don't need a liter bike to cruise on the interstates these days. I didn't in the 80's, either.
I've been riding a Vulcan 900 for years and love it, especially for its 5 gallon tank. I've also taken several day trips on a friend's Honda Phantom. It's a great bike with good power and more comfortable than I thought it would be. You can't go wrong with a Shadow.
The Royal Enfield offerings show their heritage in their styling. It's basically how they've always looked.Everything else is made up to look like it has a history of that design but I know they don't. You have the choice of an original work of art or a copy. I'll go with the original, thank you!
Need to add another 50 or more pounds to some of them. Much smaller bikes come in around 400 pounds. I wish the Enfields 531.3 pounds and Vulcans 491.7 pounds wet were under 450 pounds wet. A much smaller Kawasaki 450 / 500 eliminator is around 388.1 pounds and cost is in the same ballpark of the Enfield. So at 140 pounds heavier and 100 pounds heavier for the Kawasaki Vulcan there is a big weight difference that can't be ignored. I Googled it just now. At 451 wet I'd probably buy the Enfield, but not wanting a heavy bike I would probably take the smaller Kawasaki. My current bike is a 650 pound Yamaha Midnight Warrior. Good bike but too freaking heavy except for cruising and touring. Bad for slow traffic and slow speed handling. Made a mistake buying it but got a great deal on it at 2000 under book price. Discovered I don't really like big air cooled V twins. Way to hot on legs when slow or stopped traffic. I didn't like my 81 BMW 1000rs I had. Engine in front of feet, carborator hitting my ankles. Sold it after a short time. Beautiful bike but not for me. I preferred my other bike, an 81 Kawasaki KZ 550 as it was more comfortable , about the same power- speed, excellent roll on power for its size, 60 or more mpg at about one third the price and about 440 pounds with the fairing I put on it. Best bike I ever had. Should have kept it.
I like the Triumph but there was only one place in Houston that could work on them so I had to buy a Harley because there are Harley shops everywhere, sorry Triumph but not enough places to get service. Love the Parallel Twin but settled for a V Twin.
@@miken7629 three shops in Houston area. I just bought bikes from two. Katy, Woodlands and near downtown Gulf Freeway. Triumphs are very simple to maintain day to day. Tires can be done by most any shop. Your point though is valid a large dealer network is a plus. I'm 50 and a 100 miles from dealers so I do all my own work.
It's not my style either. I wouldn't call it ugly, but otherwise, I totally agree with you. It doesn't match the other cruisers and doesn't belong on this list. Placing it between the Royal Enfield and the Triumph just makes it worse. Haha.
Just take conventional styling and fatten it. The tanks, fenders, tires, seat to some degree, bars, frame members and the rest. Keep it retro, but fat and I guarantee you will sell a ton. If it appears decadent and maybe even a little steampunk, you will be shocked at the response. Put a big fat headlight up front and watch the reaction. Just saying.
In what world is 1200cc or 550lbs middleweight?
Interesting category, $7000 - $ 17000. 650cc - 1200cc. 😮. Hmmm 🤔 something doesn’t seem to be comparable here.
Shaft drive is a must

Honda shadow phantom would be my choice to have a long cruising ride.

Just sold mine, no tach, no gear indicator, no fuel gauge, no clock, but it did sound good.

I remember when anything over 1,000cc was considered a large bore bike.
It still is!
I'm old enough to remember when a 750 was classed as big.
how is 1000cc + middleweight ?
That's what I thought.
Super Meteor is 530 lbs wet. Just bought one.
That’s a very pretty bike. It really caught my eye. It’s the best looking bike in the video by far. Congratulations bud!!! Very sweet bike. 👍
Why are all new bikes so freaking ugly.

Black paint taking the place of chrome/polished aluminum; not at all a fan of that.

Buy a service manual and do it yourself. It's not rocket science.

The Triumph would require far less shop time than the Harley and be cheaper shop time also.
Did Honda finally add a fuel gauge to the new Shadow?
Where is the thumbnail bike
Any motorcycle over 700 cc is not a middle weight bike, and neither is anything over 450 lbs.
HONDA REBELL 1100 does not match the other motorcycles, is ugly, no character !!!
Honda Rebell is in a same category as a new Harley Sportster-Very Ugly.
Looks is subjective buddy…!

1100 is middle weight?
@@DonanKlooz Rather underweight compared to a Boss Hoss ;-)

The picture representing the video is click bait.
Royal enfold and bmw are UJMs not cruisers. Rebel or Indian scout? Scout all day long.
Universal Japanese Motorcycle (UJM): Royal Enfield and BMW are definitely not UJMs.
Neither the Rebel nor the Scout are mid weights and BMWs and Enfield's are not Japanese motorcycles. (UJM) They are standards.
absolute mis-information and bullshirt...waste of time
Shadow is very busy on the right side
Rebel looks like an engine at a junkyard
