The final phase of this fight… I don’t think it’s been stated just how unnerving this part is. On the surface, yeah, it’s a cool homage to Galactic Nova Nucleus, but think of the context here. That is the heart of Star Dream Soul OS in the background, we are literally inside its core (which used to be Haltmann’s office, by the way). And speaking of Haltmann, the pause description of the other phases mentions that there’s still a tiny part of Haltmann that exists within Star Dream Soul OS, which is, based on its calculations, the reason Kirby has been able to keep up the fight so far. That little bit of Haltmann is sabotaging Star Dream Soul OS, preventing it from using its true strength against Kirby. So now, with Kirby in its core, Star Dream Soul OS tries a different approach to the fight. It seems as though Star Dream Soul OS has managed to quarantine Haltmann’s soul into those pillars, as every time one is destroyed, Haltmann’s scream can be heard. Star Dream Soul OS realizes that Haltman’s soul is keeping it from winning, so it decides to let Kirby be its anti-virus and purge Haltmann’s soul from its programming. And once Haltmann is 100% deleted, that is when Star Dream Soul OS goes on the attack. No Haltmann, no hold back. It now calculates that NOTHING can stop it from destroying all life in the universe. And the first step? Killing Kirby. However, Star Dream Soul OS made one fatal mistake: it miscalculated. Up until now, it believes that Kirby has gotten this far out of sheer luck and Haltmann’s interferences. It acknowledges Kirby as powerful, but it believes Kirby is weaker than he truly is. And once the core takes enough damage, Star Dream Soul OS realizes that it was no match for Kirby after all. But it’s not through yet. It may be shutting down, but it’s taking Kirby with it. Those energy waves (which WILL KILL YOU if it hits you, even with Stone or Leaf!) are Star Dream Soul OS using the very last of its power to vaporize Kirby, but Kirby is able to evade the blasts. With nothing else left to give, Star Dream Soul OS can’t sustain itself anymore, and its heart shatters like a vase. And you hear one last Haltmann scream as it does so. Perhaps he was never 100% purged after all…
