Thank you for letting us know your recommendation at the end. I've seen many reviews that list pros and cons and let the viewer decide if it is any good, but I don't know too much about action cameras and since this would be a gift for someone, I just want to know if it is good enough/worth it and you've helped me out. Thank you!
Lovely review. I see that you also have a 5000x elite. Question, which is better bwteen the m20 and 5000x elite in terms of the following: > photo quality > video quality > audio pick up Hope you can help me. I'm so confused which one between the two to buy. I would like to talk while recording, maybe do some vlogs during my travels, and the likes. Which one of the two would you say is better? Thank you.
Photo Quality, I did not pay that much attention since that is not the main purpose of the camera. They both have about the same result as far as stills are concerned. Video is certainly better in M20. Audio - for this I recommend go one up and get SJ6. It is a good camera for audio on the go, I have a sample section in the review video. It also takes external mic which I recommend for walking and talking. A dedicated mic makes a big difference. Also, the SJ6 has high setting for stabilization, which works wonders when you hold the camera by hand and walk. Good luck mate.
Hi, the camera has been tested to be used with a battery pack. You can connect one while the camera is recording. The camera continues to record while connected to the external power. If you disconnect the power it shuts down the camera, recording or not.
+1 for weights with case! sick of ppl giving weights of camera alone. thank you and thanks for the total review. big help (loved the chipset part and the 4k comments! ha!)
dear Sir .. tQ for ur fine review. i have just recently given my EKEN H8S to my son. now i am 're'looking anothe actioncam for myself. ur video footage of walking feet underwater was fantastic(can't get any clearer than that) that could be the clincher for me + i like the upright form factor. again tQ n take care Sir.
Hi! Great review ;) Just can't decide between M20, SJ5000x Elite and Gitup Git2. For me, the quality of image and stabilization are the most importante aspects im looking for. The Git2 stabilization is superb but i need to be sure about the product before buy it. Any advise?
Hi, I have not personally used the Git2 so can not say from personal experience. However, specification wise, they are indeed very close. Between the 5000x and M20, the M20 has some advantages over the 5000X. The stabilization is approximately equal between the two models.
The newer ones are getting better. The Legend is coming out now, I'm in process of reviewing it and the results are promising. Though my recommendation is to wait for the SJCAM Star. That one will have the better CPU.
That in itself is a lie (since that is the word you used). If it is interpolated how is that 4K. Not only that they show in many places UHD, do we have UHD resolution anywhere? If for even a second you are defending this behavior from the manufacturer, you are defending misleading information, you are defending marketing tricks and worst of all unethical conduct. Take care on which side you choose.
No, I do not defend misleading terms, but when a user is reading technical specifications, he should know what the terms mean. Go search what the word "interpolated" means in video terminology. It is like saying "it is equivalent to 4k". Some manufacturers use the term "true hd" or "true 4k" just because the prior term exists and people could mix up
Rule # 1 - 'We can not impose anything upon the user. The mass population is to be considered innocent.' I am telling you this from 18 years of experience in the industry. Someone should have read the specs or terms and should have known better is the escape route used by ill intending parties. We can take an image of 16 pixel by 9 pixel and interpolate it to a 3840 x 2160 image or more for that matter, by nature of raster graphics. There is a video of 2880 x 2160. Either it is 4k or is not 4K. Either true or false. One or the other. The reality is it is NOT 4K. But a lot of information is presented intentionally to make it "appear" 4k on their website. You want to see a reasonable approach to the same have a look at this: goo.gl/oY23Ls. Practically identical specs, however they avoided saying 4k. Its because of the shady kind of false advertisement I deal with dissatisfied customers in daily basis. Humble people loosing our, who as per your words "should know what the terms mean". Read the rule # 1 again.
look, you have a point, I'm not trying to say otherwise and I am with you on the deception. But I'm defending this particular instance because they did not say 4k and stop. This kind of term "interpolated" exists in this field and this procedure has many applications (not solely used to sell stuff). It is not like the stupid rules we have in the food industry where a manufacturer says "chicken nuggets" then you find only 50% of the nuggets is chicken, this is pure lying because there is no technology or knowledge that you must gain in advance to know that your food is supposed to be made of "real" food. But when it comes to something man invented, and here is where you are wrong with your number 1 rule, you can't simplify things to the masses, or simplify ENOUGH that they won't be disappointed somehow or not. For example, MANY MANY people who buy cars don't know anything about cars except for the simple fact that you need to sit in it and feed it petrol to move, so how do you expect them to sell cars if they didn't state the new or improved to technology in their cars? They can't just come and say: hey our new car comes in 10 colours and that's it. That's why it is the responsibility of the salesman to explain or otherwise, the customer himself needs to do a VERY brief research with google to understand the terms and the benefits or disadvantages.
Fantastic review. I just purchased this and agree with your points. I also have a SJ4000 and still love it and have used it for years.

Thanks for watching. All the best.
Great - video - thanks! Do you have a sample video of the M20 with sound (e.g. voice)? It's very important to make a decision for me. Thank you
Hi, I have some samples, though have not uploaded any.

Thank you for replying. Figured to get the m20. ^_^ Hope all goes well. =)
Is better than a GoPro hero4? Or equal fight with a GoPro hero5?
Thanks for the great and honest review. Do you know if this camera can be used while the battery charger is plugged in?
Hi, the camera has been tested to be used with a battery pack. You can connect one while the camera is recording. The camera continues to record while connected to the external power. If you disconnect the power it shuts down the camera, recording or not.
Many reviews complain that the audio is too low with this camera. Did you boost it in post process or does the volume level compensate in the camera?
+1 for weights with case! sick of ppl giving weights of camera alone. thank you
and thanks for the total review. big help (loved the chipset part and the 4k comments! ha!)
Thanks watching the video. See you next time, cheers.

Hi, the new batteries look a lot like GoPro Hero 4 batteries, are they the same?

30 meters
Nice review btw where you from?

M20 or 5000x? :)
M20
and M10+ or M20?
At this point in time M10+ costs more than M20. So M20, thumbs up..
Dip stick, lol. Great review!
they state that the 4k is " (interpolated) " in their website; so they are not lying
