- We are 'all showed out' after The international Campervan & Adventure Overland Show at Stratford as we head home for a brief pitstop ready to re-fuel, buy some Calor gas and head for the Eurotunnel
on a surprise visit....
We have a few challenges ahead before we make it to the Chanel Tunnel. Our Covid-19 Paperwork must be in order to enter France, we are almost out of Calor gas so HAVE to get some before we leave the UK as it's very hard to find on the continent. Not to mention of course the impending fuel shortages, Motorway protesters and Monday rush hour traffic to navigate.
We have never used the EuroTunnel before and have never taken the motorhome abroad either, so this is a steep learning curve.
With no site booked for our final destination, we just keep our fingers crossed that it will all go well!
We are a year in to owning a motorhome. 4 months of which we were in lockdown! We have travelled to Scotland, Cornwall and many UK counties in between, but this is the first time we have dared go overseas - or under them in this case!

We’ve been through the tunnel again on Monday last week and it was a breeze. None of the stress of last year.
As we are fully vaccinated there’s no need for tests 👍🏻
All we did was upload our covid passes to the Eurotunnel booking and no one has asked to see them since.
Just passports.
We’ve been to France, Andorra and are now in Spain and it’s been so easy. So go for it! 😊

Just found your channel very informative and funny. We are about to get our new motorhome next week and we’re really excited. We also want you to go to Europe been many times in the car and towing the caravan but it will be the first time in the motorhome.
Thank you for your comment. Hopefully you will find it easier in Europe in your motorhome than your caravan as Aires are more accommodating and plentiful.
The tunnel was a breeze and having taken a car on the ferry a few times, we much prefer the ease of not having to get out of our vehicle and it’s much quicker.

@@TheHillsExplore thank you for taking time to reply I really appreciate it. We’ve had a caravan for over 25 years and it’s been in storage in Spain since 2007. In 2021 we bought a small 2 berth caravan which we took to Syke in September. I’ve wanted a MH for a while but couldn’t convince my wife but now she’s slowly coming round to the idea. We’ve just watched 4 of your videos in Germany and we both loved it.

@@micksparrow8214 my mum and dad had a caravan in the late 70’s early 80’s. We had an electric foot pump for the cold water tap in the kitchen and kerosene lamps. No heating - we’d put the kettle on! Caravans are great for setting up a base camp. But we like the fact that we can pull up to a site or park up and we’re done!

If you have any recommendations for places we should put on our list to visit in Spain then we love personal recommendations.
We may well end up there again next year at some point. 😊
@@TheHillsExplore since 2006 we have visited every year Noja near Santander. The campsite is called Playa Joyel. Best campsite on the north coast. It’s got a great almost private beech and can cater for 1000 pitches. Quite a few Motorhomes use it as drop off before the ferry from Santander or a bit further away Bilbao.

Just have all your paperwork ready for all the checkpoints.
I set up alerts from the government website to make sure we kept up to date with the requirements as it seemed daunting in September.
Driving on to the train was much easier than I expected. I’d never want to bother with a ferry again as the tunnel was quick and efficient!

@@TheHillsExplore thanks it will be our first time . Your blogs are really good and so useful . We plan to drive from home and get to Montreuil first day ..got three weeks so hope to see plenty of Normandy Brittany and Maybe get down to Loire region? Drive back not sure which way
@@webgibs sounds wonderful. We were caught out by the low emission zones in Germany, so we would double check next time and make sure we get the sticker in advance.
France has a similar system I believe.

That was to enter France. You have to sign to say you meet all their safe entry requirements 😊

Hi I don't know how heavy your vehicle is but a blind spot sticker is only required if the vehicle is over 3.5 tone.
