Also, Tetsucabra since it was one of the monsters you can fight, but can't have as a monstie in the second game.
Depends I do like it that certain monsters aren’t playable it kinda reminds the player that this monsters aren’t here for my character, they exist as their own beings separate from the main character. Also it makes sense that certain monsters are harder to tame

I had a feeling MHS3 was coming. Switch 2 has been out, selling like hot cakes and it wasn’t going to be too long before they announced something MH related. They probably have been sitting on this announcement for a while. I’m more surprised it wasn’t at the original Switch 2 direct.
And since it is announced for every console, I expect Xbox to get the first two sometime next year as well. Or later this year.

Timeskip be going crazy and now I hear these nations going to war. That’s the first I ever heard of human nations in monster hunter actively fighting each other than the monsters
@shikniwho7215in 1 the Rider village thought they were the only Riders, which was proven wrong when they found out about Avinia's village, so the truth was they were too isolated to know better. 2 followed up with a Rider village on an island and Riders as a whole coming out of hiding in the world due to the events of Stories 1. Question is how 3 may or may not fit into this.
I'm just soo glad that we're getting adult main protagonists this time. One of the major things I was hoping for.

I have in Stories 2 over 850 hours, in Stories 1 over 250 hours And I'm looking forward to playing Monster Hunter Stories 3, I'll be playing for over 200 hours
well, it is a tiny bit~~ disappointed to me, mostly because they retcon Avinia's story and while they bring back the first game's cast, they give no excuse for the first game's protagonist to just be gone.
but that is just a minor thing, the gameplay and story still a blast to go through.

Wow. I really wasn't expecting Stories 3 to just drop like this but I'm not complaining at all. I hope we get a Stories anime like the first Stories game did, and more spin-off games

What I'm noticing and really liking is the expansion of the MH universe as a world that humanity lives in, not just living around the monsters.
I really like the idea of an actual society and developed nations that exist alongside the monsters.
I get the feeling that this is going to do the marvel alternate world bs.
@AnarickTheDevil i mean, the first two stories already take place in a other world, don't they? I mean in general I'd love if it was just one well written and cohesive world where the mainline and stories take place, but I think keeping them apart makes sense

@barooooon559 My introduction to MH was the free demo of the first one on the 3DS and the series clicked with me instantly (which seem to be a rare occurence from what I've seen on Internet) so when I saw that trailer was dropped I screamed and laughed extremely loudly, and I also laugh like a psycho, so I pissed of my family because I screamed so loud lmao !
This new artstyle is so pretty! And the monsters have more detail and realistic proportions! And with seemingly more adult characters and conflict to match!
They have just continued to step up with each game so I can't wait to see what they are going to do this time. Definitely wishlisting this game once more info comes out!

@WorldBurningTimedid the art style change? It looks pretty similar to 2, just with even larger monsties. I guess the characters heads may be a bit proportionally smaller, but not by much.
@Ryodraco It’s less cutesy/chibi: monster proportions are more realistic, characters look “older” and look like Fire Emblem clones. The overall tone seems more like a generic fantasy story.
I dislike how the characters look, so plain 😢. But I like how the monsters look now.
When I say this has been my most anticipated game since Stories 2, I'm not exaggerating.

Played OG MH Stories 1 more because it had *monster element change* (so more customization opportunities).

If we do get the modifiable stats for elements back, I’ll finally have a true successor for my water Black Diablos. (Instead of the non-elemental poison build that I had to go with in Stories 2. Mine was always meant to have the water element.)

I'm so hyped for this game, but that is one thing that has me worried. I'm a girl and the customization as well as getting to choose/play as my gender is one of the many things I really loved about MHS1 and MHS2, so I will be very disappointed if we are stuck playing as a set male MC. I'll likely still play it, but its kinda weird how they seem to have changed from having a customizable MC to a set one.
Hope they brought back *monster element change* from original Monster Hunter Stories 1.

Ngl, seeing Rakna-Kadaki and Magnamalo made me really happy. Rise was my first ever game. Also, I absolutely love how much MH is focused on the wildlife and world, but I am glad to see a story focused on the people and kingdoms of the world. 😁

@internetdragon7624It actually doesn't. The patterns were different and the colouration was as well. While Rathalos are typically blue and red, Ratha was black and red with distinct markings on its wings
Monster Collection game requirements:
Can ride Cool(est) Monsters and there are lot of options to choose from
+
Can wear Cool(est) Armor Sets and there are lot of options to choose from
+
Collected Monsters are of correct size
+
MC is a character with personality and is a grown up
+
Medieval setting (castles & knights etc.)
+
Open World (probably)
+
Most Important: A game being developed with Passion to give the players what they actually want
Seems like our requirements from another monster collecting game but MH Stories 3 seems to be the one to deliver.
They better bring in Malzeno as a Boss, and Lunagaron as a Monstie, maybe even both.

@luiserodriguezserrano4287 Yes and no in my opinion. If we’re getting a Malzeno monstie it would most likely be the Primordial version since 1) the “normal” Malzeno is just a Primordial that got thoroughly corrupted by the Qurio, and 2) the Qurio are just straight-up menaces.
Well, I could be wrong though. The MHStories series did seem to loosely follow Canon, what with Gravios and Basarios being hatched from their own eggs despite being the older and younger versions of each other, and Nergigante hatching from an actual egg instead of regrowing from a stray thorn.

Addressing the wider world outside of what the Hunters/Riders experience. Feels like Monster Hunter mixed with Fire Emblem and I'm here for it.

It sells... probably the most likely reason they've adopted this tone/style.
Doesn't really feel like the rest of the series tonally. Feels like they are pushing the IP forward in the timeline with each new release (Stories ans mainline). Character designs get more modern, armor sets look less tribal, towns and cities get more complex, equipment gets smaller, war between gentrified nations.
I'm sad we are losing that iconic style, but hey, it seems to sell better and maybe they planned this all along.
@YouMystMe To be fair, we've had like a dozen games with the same sort of tone. And this is a spin off. They should be free to try out new ideas right?
MHS2 felt like yesterday... If you showed this trailer to me 9 years prior I would've gone into shock - from overjoyment, of course.

Okay the fact they dropped the chibi style for the riders and the monsties now has me intrigued though I hope the baby monsties won’t just be shrunk down models of the adults like we saw in the trailer
The babies in the previous game did have unique models, so I guess you mean you want them to look more different than before?
Also the chibi style was dropped in Stories 2. What they're doing here seems to be making the rideable monsters adult sized or close to it, which is awesome.
Nah, I don't think they will be doing that much for the babies. If they won't even make baby Raths brown I think it's safe to say the Stories games ignore lore-accurate baby monsters for the sake of their artists' sanity
Oh no what I meant by the babies was how like in the previous games the models had baby proportions like in the previous games while the baby rathas seem to be just shrunken adult models
notice how our rider has the ratha with the left horn and if we go near the end when the rathaloses hatch the right one is noticeably riled up, in fact the left one with the left horn (which ratha ) is kind of chillin, and considering the game is called twisted reflection, it could be that the rathalos with the right horn could be the twisted reflection or some sort of counterpart to the other rathalos, or that it could have been affected by whatever the ''calamity'' of this game is, which seems to be this so-called ''Encroachment'' from what hear/see halfway in the trailer, and something could've happened to the right horned rathalos and the healthy one which is the one we see our rider use is the only one out of the 2 left that (maybe) didn't get affected by the Encroachment. anyways that's my little theory from that i found out in the trailer. Edit: i also just noticed that the right horned one is wayyyyy larger than the left horned one, and 2: the rathaloses that hatched seem to be a bit more mature, specially in their wings and overall appearance compared to both Ratha's from mhst 1,2 even though both these rathaloses and past rathas are newborns, even this twin pair of rathaloses have a less baby looking face than for example razewing ratha or any rathalos in mhst for that matter (at their newborn stage of course) i have no idea what this could mean, it could simply be a change in design and i might be fumbling on that one, but it sure is very VERY interesting if it's not a overhaul in designs.
A Rathalos named Ratha as the main monster in this game, thats something I did not expect at all😅

Kind of wish they hadn't done that again. I also hoped they'd use a different monster as the main star (since Rathalos has already been that for the last two), but I would've settled for Rathalos again if they just simple used a different name for it. As we're now up 4 Ratha's I believe; the first from Stories 1, then 2 had Razewing Ratha and the old Ratha and now we've got a Ratha in this game.

I started with the Stories games almost before playing GU. Played Stories 2 when it came out, and now there's no other game I want to play than Stories 3 when it comes out. I was a kid when I played 1, a teen when I played 2, and now I'll be an adult playing 3, just like the protagonists in each game. Quite poetic how that worked out. 🎉

Stories usually lags a game behind or so: Stories 2 didn't have many rise monsters, for example. That said, there's the chance of adding a few big names from wilds in as DLC, the first did that with Glavenus, the absolute new hotness at the time.
Honestly, I think the new monsters in this new Stories game are going to come from Rise and Sunbreak. I think in a possible Monster Hunter Stories 4, and when Wilds has all of its content finished up, we'll get to tame and fight monsters that were introduced in the Forbidden Lands.

Three of the biggest things I'm hoping for are:
1. The ability to have your main rathalos be named something other than Ratha, even if it's a list of set name options rather than a custom one.
2. More direct reference to age-wise relations between different monsters, such as gravios hatching as basarios, etcetera.
3. Would be cool to see the eggs looking more unique to each species rather than just changing patterns and colors.
Overall, I'm so bloody excited for this, and it caught me by surprise!

@dragonlady1039it’s not just the voice. His entire presence ruins the mood of the game. He was aight in the first 1 cause his cartoonish behaviour matched the vibe but not in the sequel. It’s like putting doraemon in attack on titan.

That's crazy, I started a MH Stories 2 playthru a week or so ago on my channel. I never would of imagined a new one was being made
I literally got the MH stories bundle on steam like a few weeks ago so seeing this also got me hyped knowing that once i finish theae theres a new one coming out now :D
I miss the chibi proportions of the hatchlings from the first two games, but that's about my only gripe. Super, *super* excited.
Also, RIP Rathalos' old roar. Ye shalt be missed.

This is very different from the previous two games, but I'm here for it!
Stories 2 was my introduction to MH, so I'm very excited to see this side series continue. Especially since it's exploring even more of the MH world than the mainline games ever do, with human kingdoms and factions far from the normal monster territories.
RIDE ON! Shame it's Rathalos again, but the step up in monster size and actually adult protag is worth it!
I wonder if the protagonist is locked in or if we're still able to customize our character! I loved Monster Hunter Stories and FINALLY we have what looks to be an adult protag
I recon its mainly a voiced protag and then we can change the looks (much like Wilds)
@Hammysaurus plot twist: twin rathalos = one for each gender protagonist (kinda like genshin impact for choosing Lumine or aether). So the gender you don’t pick becomes another character to interact with in the story?

I really hope the MC isn't locked in as a male MC. One of my fave parts about MHS series is getting to play as my gender (female) and customizing the MC. I will be so sad if thats the case. I love this series so much so I will likely still play it, but will be very sad if that is the case. :')

More elder dragon Monsties please! Especially Primordial Malzeno and Valstrax!
I’m trying not to be too hopeful, but I’d like to see Namielle for a water option in the Elder Dragon roster. I think it was wasteful to have 3(!) ice Elder Dragons in S2. Fire, thunder, and non-elemental got one each, while water and dragon got nothing.
@CTSaelin my opinion there’s like at least 6 more Elders, including Namielle, Valstrax, and Primordial Malzeno that are rideable by lore; they include Chameleos, Lunastra, and Val Hazaak.
@lizelin6187And I still believe that Chameleos should have been the DLC Elder Dragon instead of Oroshi Kirin. O-Kirin was already available in Stories 1, so it being the DLC addition instead of included in base game Stories 2 always felt like a cop-out to me.
Maybe they could pull an Espinas scenario like they did with Sunbreak, and surprise us with another Frontier monster. Personally, I’d be thrilled if we got rideable Inagami (bamboo Elder), Harudomerugu (mercury Elder), or even Rukodiora (magnetic Elder). At least they’re something more interesting to work with than just standard elemental Elders.

Please this time make the final boss a revisitable fight through a special bonus quest after main story completion. If not, let the game have New Game+ function.
Weapons and an armour set crafted from the final boss would be great too.
I really really really WISH they would have a new game+ feature, games so rarely have that feature, and that would be awesome!
@KikoSmith-f2f to me it's annoying that with the two previous games there's no way to revisit the final story bosses. If you want to fight them again you have to either keep a save file just before the start of the final conflict or start a brand new game.
@dianslabbert504 the remaster adds the lost floors of the Tower of Illusion, in which you can and will fight Makili and Versa Pietru :D so thats cool!

I think that the Monster riders are the ones that left Wyveria, With Monsties being similar to Guardians but being "tamed/domesticated" and the ones that stayed being the ones responsible for the guardian types.
I like that they moved away from the Chibi style. while retaining the personality of the different style.
Monsties are tamed monsters from wild parents though, not manufactured constructs like the Guardians. Guardians also were outright controlled to serve people, whereas the Stories games have repeatedly emphasized Riders do not really control monsties.
