Now's he's in the part of Tony Stark's backstory where he's a sell-out with a God Complex, a crippling substance abuse problem, and no real friends or family. And he's apparently just as racist and anti-semetic as Ford was when he was an old man. Once Elon decided not to go to Mars, it was all over.

It's like a kid complaining it's not fair that he got grounded for breaking some pretty big rules his parent set for him.
For people who are being censored so much, they sure are loud about it. It's wild to me that conservatives have decided that free speech means "freedom from consequences" and "freedom to be a dick" instead of what it actually means...
Exactly. All freedom of speech means is freedom from prosecution from the government. It doesn’t mean that if you say some thing awful that an employer can’t fire you or people can decide to remove you from their life.

It doesn't even mean that, because there are certain types of speech which are still restricted under the constitution. It's just that people make the assumption that 'free speech' means literally saying whatever you want without consequence - the type that Elon promoted long before he acquired Twitter - so it's ironic that he's the one making it even more draconian and even more censored than it was before.
You can sum up Elon Musk succinctly with what he did in response to the Thai students stranded in a cave. 1. Musk unliaterally decides to send a submarine kit-bashed from a rocket to Thailand 2. Everyone who knew anything about caves said that the sub was useless; one diver got particularly salty and insulted Musk publicly. 3. Musk, deciding to rid himself of this tumultuous diver, made public defamatory remarks about the diver. 4. The defamed diver sued Musk, and because Musk has more money than anyone could possibly need in 1000 lifetimes, Musk won the lawsuit, literally buying dominance over a critic.

But she had only seen a couple of episodes, nothing about modern segregation in housing or the origins of policing or how police funnel people to prisons. Your show introduced me to concepts I had never heard, or had been told are ridiculous.
Thanks Adam!
Yeah, ARE shaped me into the person I am today. Learning about all the inequalities around us at the age of a middle schooler truly shook my world.
So happy to see you still out here SLAYING SKIBBIDY lol (IDK what that means either).
I remember finding your ADAM RUINS EVERYTHING ...YEARS ago! And now I see you're still killing it, doing your thing, AND stand up comedy! (saw a RUclips vid of your comedy and loved it, btw).
Keep going til the road runs out, Adam. You're one of a kind and we love you!
"If you're not at the table, you're on the menu..."

LMAO!!! Bleeped the F-bomb at 7:48, but let the one four seconds later slip by!
Nicely done, Adam and crew! I see what you did there!

Elon: “Free Speech!”

My favorite part "The robots can be your friend." Lets you know he was a child without friends wishing he can build a robot to make a friend. Sad as a child and a different kind of sad for an adult.
"... an ugly hunk of metal that makes everyone give you the finger as you drive by." Pure genius, and the best description of the cyber truck I've heard yet.
I think that's the deeper and ultimate root issue when people fight against the wealthy and say that billionaires shouldn't exist. Are we jealous of their play-toys? Sure. I'd love to have more things and stuff. But the power and influence that allow them to circumvent the public and have a private line to lawmakers and judges (and have seats at the table because they bought their way in)... THAT'S the real reason why "eat the rich" exists.
I can get down when someone for beating me at a game if the rules were fair, but ultimately I can sleep well and try again. But being forced to play in a game where the people in the lead get to change the rules to benefit themselves AND hurt those playing against them?! I just want fair rules based on voices that are equal. (But I am too much of an idealist.)
It is quite scary that someone SO out of touch as Musk has so much money and power. People are too numb to this. It is a SERIOUS problem. Thank you for talking about this.
Technocracy is not Democracy. Elon wants technocracy.
No. Technocracy would be rule by the competent. Musk isn't competent at anything. What he wants is Oligarchy
Techno-feudalism
Ironically the guys that want this don’t know shit about fuck about good governance. Pure ego.
Bold to assume that he can do technology in the first place
Why is it so hard to just make a new social media platform and dump Twitter? From someone who doesn’t use Twitter.
The reason is the same why Whatsapp was bought for billions. Audience
Network effects and switching cost inertia
Infrastructure. It takes a lot more than just designing a webpage on Squarespace to make a social media site. You need servers and storage and protection against malicious attacks. You need a security team. A team of engineers. Moderators to remove genuinely illegal artifacts.
Essentially, its expensive and while it's been attempted, as the commenter above me pointed out, you need an audience, and most people will just accept the issues with a known platform that is tied into everything, before switching to some unknown platform that doesnt have as large a user base
Mastodon is a federated alternative that no one company can control. It's already got millions of users
Everyone is already migrating to BlueSky now.

3:45 Funny you mention him not having the guts to bomb at an open mic night. I remember when Dave Chapelle brought him out and the first thing the supposed-genius Elon said was "Dave, what do I say?" Truly the makings of a comedic and intellectual genius.
Comedic and engineering genius are two very different things. Dave Chappell wouldn’t know where to start if he was handed a rocket engine to fix, let alone design one from scratch
@@therealworldsociety42 Then Musk should have stayed off the stage. Chapelle has the sense to not walk into an engineering firm and look like an idiot, unlike Musk.
@@stefanlvkc7986 All are welcome in comedy, and anyone getting into a new space is always doing the smart thing by asking for advice from more experienced people. Or do you think nobody should try new things?
@@therealworldsociety42 People generally have the sense to get advice from those with experience BEFORE trying the new thing in front of a crowd of people. You don't walk out in front of a crowd with zero material, look around and then go "What do I say?"
Apparently you and Musk lack that level of common sense.
@@stefanlvkc7986 Maybe for you, other people are busy and/or live life in the moment. I’ve been in more improvising spots than I can count and they all turned out alright because I chose to try it even though I didn’t know exactly what to do

How does he maintain such a loyal fanbase while being such an emphatically cringy tool?
Cos there's lots of incels out there
I was an artist on twitter. It is such an abhorrent social space nowadays. I thought I could keep using it by just focusing on my interests and friends, but the platform makes it difficult to do so. It takes more effort than wanted to significantly decrease or remove rage bait, sponsored bigotry, and elon's own posts. Besides that, the algorithm and the entire user experience is f*cked. I stopped using the app once he got his hands on it--not on purpose either--the platform and experience was just THAT bad. I just don't use it anymore, and I don't use social media much in general now, so thanks for that, I guess?
In 2026 before 2027... That's about 2 years away. I remember the first time he said Teslas would be fully automated "2 years from now". That was back in 2014, and Teslas are nowhere near fully autonomous. Ever year, couple of years since then, he has said "It'll be here next year, or in two years" and the next year he always shifts the timeline. This last time in 2022 he said Teslas would be fully self driving by the end of the year. It's now 2024 and in his most recent showcase he again pushes it back two years.
He's also been on the whole "send humans to Mars" thing for over a decade now, with his first projected dates already passed. Now he says 2028 instead, but we all know that will pass just like the earlier dates did.
I'm glad someone's putting this stuff out there. When I say this stuff it's usually just me screaming into the void that is my car windshield.
You need help.
Good video, but the lighting and color balance makes it a bit rough on the eyes. Dim down that key light, shoot a white card, and try not to wear tight stripes. A little powder wouldn’t hurt. You can keep the key high to avoid glasses reflection but put it to one side. It doesn’t take a lot to make this look 100x better. Background is a bit too busy as well. You could lose the lamp. Cheers
1:49 man, its 2024 and tech bros are still getting outclassed by the universal studios megatron animatronic that insults you

Title felt a little out there in the beginning but i have to say you have me totally convinced. That section about buying speech is amazing
Elon does not care about free speech. His version of free speech is the free speech your mom says we have at home. Its a knockoff version of free speech.
Twitter Users: Hey Elon, do you have free speech?
Elon: No, but we have freeze peach.
I did not want to see Ted Cruz's face today.
I don’t want to see it any day. Especially that weak ass beard he tried to grow to seem like a regular guy.
I have days like that. Only the ones that end in "Y", though.
Im opening twitter as im watching this video and it’s telling me that the blocking feature won’t block anyone anymore and allow people to see all your tweets. Thats going to cause so much actual physical harm
free speech has nothing to do with private companies censoring stuff. it has to do with the ability to speak freely about power without the government seeking retribution against you. That is ALL it means. You cannot go to jail or be fined or whatever for what you say.

1. Musk unliaterally decides to send a submarine kit-bashed from a rocket to Thailand
