This album was recorded live (besides vocals and guitar solos), analog on a 24 track. All musicians were playing in the same room, with lots of bleed and no click track. With this mix I want to share the moment with the listeners, when the band returned from the recording room, still sweating, while the tape recorder is rewinding - when we pressed play, pushed the faders on the big console and listened to their extraordinary performance and raw power. This is the innocent moment when music is more important than control.

The problem is that a lot of people have never actually heard a metal band playing live in a room, they are unaware of what it actually sounds like. I loved watching the "making of" dvd that came with this album originally, great job done by you and everyone else involved, horns up

I'll keep going back to the original.
This is a mix made by a guy who actually produced and recorded this album. Original version of the album was mixed by Colin Richardson, after being recorded by Moses Schneider. And now we can hear the Schneider's version of the mix, I find it interesting to hear the differences in each guys' approach. It is no surprise that most people find original mix to be better sounding, after all Colin is one of the best engineers ever when it comes to metal music. Also, this album sounds a bit more raw compares to their other albums because it was mostly recorded live by the band in the studio, only lead guitars and vocals were recorded aditionally.
I like the Colin mix substantially better. Moses recording for that raw energy, but Colin mixing for a better sound made for a best of both worlds. This mix sounds like a demo tape.

Never gets old
Finally this mix gives justice to the whole recording process. But I can see why the average metalhead is preferring the original mix.
From a sound engineer's point of view.
This version, made years ago, is more of a demo for the band than material for an album. In the official release there is more control in the lower midrange, there is a more balanced mix of instruments and vocals, in this case the guitars are in the foreground and create a mess in the frequencies, the mix is monotonous from beginning to end, there are no accents, something that interests the listener . I'm more convinced of the version from the official release, this one sounds like a single from a beginner band with a limited budget. Moses is a great producer but for me it's a raw mix for the band that was created right after recording the tracks

Having listened both the original and the remix back to back I can honestly say I hope Moses didn't charge you much because apart from the slightly cripser crashes and slightly warmer sound on the bass its basically the same. Why bother? 😅
I think the original actually sounds a lot more powerful and punchy and what's wrong with the drums on this mix, completely dull and dead ?
This mix seems to call back to glorious St. Anger/Octagon days.

What's up with the drums? Horrible RUclips compression or just a bad mix? Popped in my Hordes of Chaos CD and it sounds significantly better, IMO.

The remixed Drums have way more room sound and don't rely as much on samples, which makes the remix feel like a raw rehearsal recording, and also bringing forth the inconsistencies of the Guitar sound that are much more evident then in the original mix. Great Song non the less which is what matters.
