Irene is such an underrated rapper. If SM gives her more opportunities as a rapper (not as just the face of the group) she will definitely do well. LIKE HER VOICE IS PERFECT FOR RAPPING, indeed best rapper in rv
While I love Joy's rap parts(even in recent B-sides), she's definitely way better suited for singing than for rapping.
Irene's definitely the best rapper in RV but I like that she doesn't always have rap parts since not all RV songs necessarily need them. It's allowed her to also develop and grow as a singer- same goes for yeri
I’d say altought Irene’s rap in Campfire remain my favorite rap verse ever from a Red Velvet song, Wendy is, in my opinion the best rapper in the group. She has a better flow and a better tone. She even did the backtrack for both raps in that song. Just my opinion though :)
I really enjoy this song up to this day. Their choreo, vocals & rap are so on-point here. Also, one of the rare moment for blonde Irene. Also, if you watched a La Rouge fancam or attend to La Rouge soon, you will be able to hear Ice Cream Cake Tango Version. It was spooky & quirky. I'm so excited for you to hop on their bsides. 💕

I've heard that the demo for this song was called "Ice Cream Truck". I imagine the dissonant vocals were probably supposed to give the feel of the lo-fi music from ice cream trucks. The entire song also just makes more sense with that connection.

It is so interesting you mention the dissonance between the vocal melodies and the instrumental. I definitley think that was intentional. This song marks the beginning of Red Velvet's creepy vibe. The song seems cute, but isnt, similar to how a lullaby or music box have a scary connotation at times. Similarily, the music video seems harmless but gives off the vibe of a slasher film.
Irene is the one rapping in the first part of the bridge but wendy did the background vocals. You might have heard wendy too! Also, their intro ‘lalalala’ was used as intro in one of their performances and redmare concert in a slower pace/tempo (?) and it sounded kinda creepy
