pwdaniels2000221 a bolter is only .75 cal, which we have had in certain rifles for a while now. a heavy bolter is a .998 cal which is far more rare but can still be done. we can even perform an exterminatus on earth by using a lot of nukes but that just seems like a bad idea right now.
In reality Space Marine are more like walking IFVs. In urban combat they would absolutely dominate our modern soldiers, being invulnerable to anything short of an autocannon or an RPG, but they wouldn't have many chances the moment they step in the open.

The Drop Site Massacre of Istvaan V saw seven legions deployed to defeat the traitor legions and bring their primarchs to justice. The first wave consisted of the Iron Hands, the Salamanders and the Raven Guard. However, the second wave comprised of the Night Lords, the Iron Warriors, the Word Bearers and the Alpha Legion had also turned traitor. With one loyal primarch dead, one in critical condition, and one missing, and three legions all but wiped out (of 120,000 men deployed, less than a 2000 escaped with the wounded Corax), the loyalist legions were, to all intents and purposes, outnumbered 3-2 for the rest of the civil war. I mean, yes, there's a lot of dead men there, but it's nothing on the scale of what happened in the Istvaan system. Either time...
E. A. Deasar he is right though...it bears a somewhat cold resemblance to where the infamous "Dropsite massacre" happened,but a barely passing likeness. I can see why he thought it was IIstvan...given that at certain points in that scene yiu can see what looks like the old Power Armour...i'd say Maximus or Crusader Pattern..

Given the context of the song, it's kind of silly that they didn't include a ton of footage from the actual battle later in this movie for an actual hill where Ultima squad falls back to higher ground and then the Thunderhawk bombs the area behind them.

Actually apothecary only took the gene-seed which is used to make new marines out of ordinary humans, nothing more, every space marine already have two hearts and stuff. I like the collecting organs version though.

The movie was hamstrung by a low budget, graphically it looks like cutscenes from a game of the late '90s early 2000s (thinking of Diablo and Diablo 2 personally). That said, the use of lighting, shadows and fog was actually quite good.
