OMG Interview Machel Montano

This week team OMG had the extreme pleasure to sit down with one of our country’s most intriguing personalities, Mr Machel Montano. From the first time we saw him step onto the stage over thirty years ago, in diapers, he has set the trend for our local music industry from every aspect of music, performance, production, to stage presentation. Without a doubt Machel has not only stayed at the top of the game, since, but has carved new paths for our music to reach the world.
The 80’s generation of Trinidad and Tobago grew up loving American Pop, Rock and Soul. Machel emerged on the scene and slowly made soca hip, trendy and desirable for them, and generations to come. He brought soca to a point where he can pack stadiums and make his show one of the most anticipated for the carnival season. Machel Montano’s, impact on our local music industry can never be denied, he has, without a doubt set the bar for the nest generation to build on.
While he has many adoring fans, Machel has many critics, who may not be impressed with his perceived arrogance and cockiness. We wanted to find out from Machel, about his new Monk Monte philosophy and how he sees himself after being in entertainment for so long, Where his head is at and what’s next.
Machel will be the first to say, he is not perfect and he has made mistakes. It is all part of his journey and striving to always be the best he can be. But at this stage in his life, Machel is digging deep to find, himself, his peace, learn from all his experiences and keep his passion for life love and taking our music further, alive.
