Kiaiju N0.8 is a low-budget version of Attack on Titan 😂 with comedy added to it the protagonist with a monster inside, the super loyal best friend, the badass girl friend whom will see in the next episode and the kickass Captain & vice-captain
fun fact: the name Kafka is a reference to Franz Kafka, writer of The Metamorphosis, a story about a man who one day wakes up and finds himself transformed into a human-sized insect.
This is actually fun because this has the same animation studios as Haikyu, idk if anyone else noticed but the comedic scenes remind me so much of Haikyu's comedic scenes 😆

one of the best "first episodes" of any anime i've ever watched. and i think it maintains a high level of quality throughout the full series. it definitely fluctuates a bit between action and comedy but it adds the seriousness/drama where needed the best anime of 2024 in my opinion (at least through october)

Last anime i remember with an English opening is Legend of Black Haven (2008ish?) And the English op is also done by the preformer who does all the english songs / guitar performances in the series.

Dont know if it is on purpose but find it funny that they choose Kafka as the characters name. Kafka is the name of the author of "Metamorphosis" that tells the story of someone that turns into a bug, which is basically what happens in this story but with a kaiju 😂

The author said that Kaiju no.8 was inspired from Pacific Rim (Kaiju Movie). If you watched that movie then you will know it's related to that.
