Like many of the most important figures to emerge in the foggier, drearier strains of grunge, metal, and post-rock, Dylan Carlson is a Seattle native. In the late ’80s, Carlson founded the band Earth, which first achieved a surge of recognition with its 1992 debut album for Sub Pop, Earth 2. Carlson's work with Earth in the ’90s helped define and establish the drone style of rock, which slowed down the fury of metal and married it with the tonal interests of minimalism. As the mastermind and backbone of Earth, Carlson has come to be seen as the father of drone. With more than 15 albums to his name, he has spent three decades exploring the sonic potentials of his guitar. In recent years, Carlson has also incorporated influences from traditional folk music into his work while also collaborating with fellow experimentalists such as Kevin "The Bug" Martin.
The Red Bull Music Academy is a global music institution committed to fostering creativity in music. We celebrate music, its culture, and the transformative minds behind it. Begun in 1998, the Academy has taken the core principles that underlie its annual workshop for selected participants and applied this curatorial approach to events, lectures, and city-wide festivals throughout the year.

Super down to earth guy. Met him after a show down in Olympia and we BS'ed about music among other things. Got a pic with him and shook his hand. Just an all around nice guy who really appreciates his fans.
Talked to him a couple of times at his shows in the Netherlands. Very friendly and humble dude indeed.

Dylan is an antidote to most of the actual fast and short living experiences zeitgeist is programming to be normal. That's kind a relief for me. His words are wisdom from earth itself 😅 imho

Yessss!!! It's so refreshing to see people opening their eyes to this! Courtney Love was deep with the CIA as was her Father Hank Harrison (connected with the CIA based band the Greatful Dead). Hell, Courtney Love was on one of the Greatful Deads album covers as a baby (toddler?). It all connects.
